Not much wrong with what he said to be honest. He was trying to give some drive to his team when the Celtics played the Lakers back into it with not much time left.Did i miss something ? They were talking about phil jackson sayingg something that "the celtics have showed all year how to lose in the 4th quarter" .When was this ?
Paul Pierce has clicked into overdrive. Kevin Garnett has clicked into overdrive. Rajon Rondo has clicked into overdrive. That leaves just one more player of the big four to "click into overdrive".
I sure hope we can close out the LA Bryants in game six.. because they are a nothing team without him firing.

Actually, if you look at it, they're a nothing team WITH him firing. The Lakers are much better (and much harder to beat) when his teammates are contributing to the game. When it's just Kobe, they become one-dimensional. It's the reason why he went off in the third quarter and the Celtics were still able to maintain a 10 point lead.
If you listened to Doc post game what he did was put his least effective shooter at the moment on Kobe one on one all game and even as he went off for 38 points most of them were incredible shots he'd have made no matter who was on him. Ray couldn't have guarded him any better. He had 4 assists all night, and only Pau barely got to double digits. The Lakers can't win no matter how many shots Kobe nails unless a couple of other Lakers are well into double digits... They survived his going off game which is something Doc said they would have to do in order to come out on top. The team started to unravel a bit under the glare of Kobe's shooting prowess. He had to settle them down when they all wanted to do something to stem it. He didn't want Paul on him - he didn't want guys trying to help Ray out - he wanted Paul expending his energy offensively and he wanted everyone else to just keep the other 4 Lakers contained including on the offensive boards.
When they listen to Doc and execute their game plan...let's just say there's a lot of BB in Doc. Even including making productive role playing citizens out of other coaches headaches...Danny has done a marvelous job rebuilding this franchise, and no acquisition more significant than getting Doc Rivers to coach this team. Coaching in today's NBA has to be one of the most difficult jobs in sports because of the attitudes and egos and star system mentality. Coaches have to be part tactician, part psychoanalyst and part snakeoil salesman. Doc is master at all of the above. Whether this team no one gave much of a shot heading into the playoffs ultimately pulls this off or not. And whatever happens with the big 3 going forward, I sure hope Danny can talk Doc into haning on.
As for Phil, he's mostly psychoanalyst. And like the broadcast team stated last night he knows he's miked up yet in his effort to rally his troops he's likely given Doc some pretty powerful bulletin board material.
Excellent commentary. Doc hasn't recieved anywhere near the credit he deserves. We've had to listen to how great Phil is over and over. If the Celtics win this year, Doc should get more credit then anyone including the players.

+1
They are ALOT more dangerous when Gasol and Odom are involved in the offense (Bynum too if he is healthy). There bigs can get KG, Perks, Sheed and Big Baby in foul trouble while getting points in the paint, thus drawing double teams and leaving shooters like Fisher wide open on the perimiter.
Kobe can take over and make big shots in the 4th towards the end of the game, but if he is taking all the shots in the 2nd/3rd quarters then his teammates are getting out of sync in the offense, thus making them basiclly ineffective when they are needed later in the game.
If Kobe scores 35+ next game, then Boston will be World Champs.
Unless Gasol goes for 20+ and Fisher goes for 10+. There's nothing wrong with Kobe scoring over 30 a game. He can do that. They just need Gasol to get into the 20 point range and for Fisher to hit double digits.
I agree that Doc has far exceeded expectations in Boston and is a great coach...I think just like Doc gets overlooked that people also overlook what Tom Thibideou has done for this team....They brought him in with the big 3 and when Nate Robinson is flying around on defense you know Tom can get through to anyone.....he will be missed next season.....He will be a great head coach as all of his players love him and say he is the hardest working assistant in the NBA......
The Celtics win Tuesday, Phil will be 0-2 against Doc in the NBA finals......enough said.
Most certainly. I probably should have qualified Ray Allen firing up offensively. There wasn't much more defensively he could have done against Kobe. He was right on his hammer and he still made the shots. If you listened to Doc post game what he did was put his least effective shooter at the moment on Kobe one on one all game and even as he went off for 38 points most of them were incredible shots he'd have made no matter who was on him. It's a conundrum isn't it. It's no surprise to me that KG's rise has coincided with Gasol being rendered useless. When the game is on the line and the team isn't firing.. the Lakers always go to Kobe. Their greatest strength is their greatest weakness. Beyond Gasol there's no much else.Actually, if you look at it, they're a nothing team WITH him firing. not so confident about game 6. its most likely the lakers will win with fisher and gasol playing/flopping better @home. NBA wants a game 7 and its hard to beat a team 3 times in a row unless the lakers come in and lay an egg..
