Bobby Wagner

Sign Wagner, ditch Bentley and go back to a 4-3. However, could Judon play End? He could be like Carrol's "Elephant" guy.
We are a 4-2 defense. Judon played DE last year.

They've been running a different version of the 3-4 Defense since 2019 with a S as the 4th LB.

No he didn't.
No, they have played 2 300lb+ DT, 2 de/olb types that PLAY THE DUTIES OF A 43 DE, 2 lbs and 5 dbs for years now.
They did not change anything schematically to the base in 2019.

Judon played as a 43 DE, just go watch the film, it’s blatantly obvious.

He's clearly an OLB.

That is absolutely not how he was used.
I’m talking about how players are used not what you think they should be called

He's an OLB. Get over it and move on.

Nothing to get over. Judon played DE, if you don’t understand the distinction find something else to discuss.

The Patriots disagree with you...but okay.

wagner is going to his old coach in DAL

Hicks and Flowers seem to be reasonable hopes.

there is no difference between DE and OLB in this scheme. They are the same position in a 4-2 scheme
the only difference is hand in dirt or two point stand

@Ring 6 look for the 3 DT line in the game against the colts. For eg 8:15 first quarter the line was God-Davis-Guy

The distinction isn’t whether their hand is in the dirt, but the responsibilities they have.

I didn’t say they never used that package, but that’s it’s rare and not the base. Perhaps I wasn’t clear.

the responsibilities are mostly the same. If they are hybrid guys then they drop in coverage occasionally, if they are bigger Edge/DE type they go after the qb

the difference is more the type of player (size) and their technique

Someone needs to explain to me how a team that is already $22 Million over the cap (Rams) can even think about signing Wagner. Can they actually sign anyone if they are already over the cap?

The Rams open up cap space via real extensions (not just voidable years) more than any other team I can think of. As they talk about imminent extensions for Stafford, Donald, etc, remember that these giant monetary figures will actually open up cap space in the short term.

Players can be used in either role. We use them far more than not on a DE role as opposed to an olb role.
