Bob Cryin: Manning is the better QB (from 1/31/2010)

Re: Bob Cryin: Manning is the better QB

OK, Tom had a ridiculous 07 season, I get that.

Put it this way, this year was the second highest totals in Brady's career. Yet would ANYONE dare say his season was half as good as Manning's?

Sorry, but statisticly speaking Brady ain't stacking up well. What Manning is doing this eyar is pretty much what he has done every single year. To say Brady is not AS good as Manning isn't a knock at all. Manning is just robot like consistent when it comes to statistics.

But hey, because wins a postseason is all that matters I'm guessing Brady was just green with envy about Mark Sanchez's awesome year, mhm?

Are you really this dense?

Brady's numbers are stratospheric in the playoffs.

They blow Peyton away. Not even in the same league.

And you compare Brady to Sanchez??

Are you going to offer us anything else besides total nonsense?

Re: Bob Cryin: Manning is the better QB

The same could be said for Brady. In fact, looking at Brady's stats since the Jacksonville playoff game, the EXACT same thing could be said for Brady.

LOL, You're talking the Super Bowl now? One game.

because the playoff game against the Chargers is an example of grabbing a two score lead and sitting on it. It was frigid that day in late January, and Brady did enough to grab that 2 score lead, and then the Patriots took the air out of the ball. This ain't know dome.

Re: Bob Cryin: Manning is the better QB

Kind of a strange comment, considering who is playing in the Superbowl next week.

And who isn't.

Excuse us. Are we talking about only one year?

Is any Patriot fan arguing that Brady was better than Manning this year?

Re: Bob Cryin: Manning is the better QB

The year he won the championship his threw a pick 6 and his team should have been down 28-3 before the referees intervened.

How often have you seen Bill Belichick go apecrap over a bad call.

I have never seen Belichick get as angry as he did over that totally bogus call on Troy Brown.

Oh - so the refs won the game for the Colts in '06? They completed all of those passes?

If you look at it that way, the refs also gave San Diego their game-winning drive last year.

And they also had a hand in a playoff game with Oakland earlier in the decade...

No - it's just strange to say that his game disappears in the playoffs at this moment, when he just completed very good games against very good defenses to get to the SB.

Re: Bob Cryin: Manning is the better QB

NFL Network just had their boys talking about Manning and his legacy. Bottom line is all three guys (Deion, Irvin and Sapp) agree, Manning needs more rings to be considered the best. Deion really wants everyone to wait until the career is over before making judgements. As he put it "Brady has 3 up on the mantle already".

Re: Bob Cryin: Manning is the better QB

Uhhh...I don't give a **** when you stopped reading.

But for the hard of thinking....in my humble opinion, Brady has been hurt more often than Manning. Brady is a tough SOB, and has obviously played hurt plenty of times, but that doesn't mean he hasn't *been* hurt.

Being hurt in the NFL means being out. Manning has played with injuries as well. Manning isn't a total wuss.

Brady has been injured once.

Re: Bob Cryin: Manning is the better QB

Right now, hes right.

Game winning drive last year? Wha?

The refs did have a hand in the Oakland game. Obviously. But they also made the right call.

Without the refs, the Colts don't win in 2006. All the plays are on Youtube. You want to look at them again?

I for one am not impressed by those wins over the Jets and Ravens. But, I do agree that Manning was incredibly good this year, and hands down for me he was the MVP.

But I've seen Manning before throttle cruddy teams in the playoffs, like the Broncos, and then wilt. Those Bronco teams were no worse than the Jets this year.

It's not strange to say Manning wilts when there's a history of him wilting.

Re: Bob Cryin: Manning is the better QB

Does anyone really cares about what this guy says?

History of him wilting?

Do you want to recap how Brady's seasons have ended since 2005?

Re: Bob Cryin: Manning is the better QB

History of him wilting?

One playoff one-and-done for Tom, Six for Peyton. Any other questions?

Re: Bob Cryin: Manning is the better QB

And Drew Brees will be better than Peyton Manning next Sunday.

It won't matter if he is or not. The Saints will give up 400 to 500 yards of total offense, maybe more. Their defense is easily the worst of the recent run of NFC champions. At best they have a 10 percent shot of pulling off the upset.

2005 season - Pats muster 13 pts. against Denver; Brady throws crucial INT

2006 season - Pats give up 21-3 lead to Colts. Brady throws game-ending INT.

2007 season - what may have been the best O of all-time musters only 14 points in SB loss.

2009 season - Brady throws 3 INT's & fumbles in lopsided loss to Ravens, in the 1st round at home.

Re: Bob Cryin: Manning is the better QB

Um, you need some math help.
Something that happened once ever is not more likely to happen twice again before something that happened 3 times does once.

So if I flip a coin four times and it comes up heads three times and tails once, that means it's more likely that it'll come up heads again before tails just because its already happened three times?

Sounds like he's not the one who needs math help! Just like with the flipping of a coin, what has happened in the past will not effect what will happen in the future.

(Can't wait for someone to stupidly take this as an argument in favor of the Colts winning and go off on a tirade about chance.)

Re: Bob Cryin: Manning is the better QB

Manning has progressed into a better quarterback. Even when Brady broke the TD record and accumulated all those stats that year, I think it was because Moss made such a difference in our offense. Moss is going down as the second greatest WR and is the most gifted WR ever.

Early on, Manning was a choke artist in big games, but he has progressed into the smartest QB ever. He'll need more SB wins to surpass Montana as the greatest ever, but I have never seen a QB dominate a game like Manning has. I can't even lie.

Manning will probably go down as GOAT when everything is said and done. Brady will be top 5, maybe even be second behind Manning. But we're fortunate to be witnessing both guys do their thing.

Re: Bob Cryin: Manning is the better QB

As much as it pains me to say, if Manning wins next Sunday, he deserves the title of best QB regardless of Brady's condition right now. The Colts defense has been great thus far in the playoffs but in the regular season they were nowhere near a 14-0 defense. Hardly a running game to speak of. Manning makes up for it all.

That being said, there's alot of football left to be played till they are done. If Manning does win, it could be a blessing in disguise as we remember how well Brady played last time Manning won a title.

Re: Bob Cryin: Manning is the better QB

while i do believe it is a complete waste of time to even respond to this

you have to bring up the defensive play of the pats if you want to bring up the weapons manning has had. manning had horrible defenses most of his career

gonzo has been a good player as well

Brady had a great defense?? When did this happen? I must have missed it. And the Colts defense was always really good against the pass, it just had problems against the run for a while. But the past few years that problem no longer exists. But this isn't about defense, its about what Brady and Manning have done on offense. And I'm saying Manning wouldn't be so great if he had to play with people like Brown, Gaffney, Caldwell, etc... Average recievers.

What exactly has Gonzo done other than drop passes and get shutdown by good corners?

Yep, if you ask coaches who they would rather have in a playoff game, I can promise you most of them will choose Brady over Manning. Manning would probably be chosen in a regular season game but not when it really matters.
