Similar situation to 1978 when Fairbanks was already out the door prior to the playoffs. You do realize that Tuna Crap deserted this team and was dealing with the Jets before he left, don't you?
The Tuna situation is way different than the Fairbanks one. Chuck had a handful of coaching years with the Pats and was never heard from in the NYFL again. Tuna sabotaged the Pats and then became the nomad of NYFL coaching.Similar situation to 1978 when Fairbanks was already out the door prior to the playoffs.
Grogan injury had most to do with losing to the Oilers, although there were several other critical injuries which derailed that team.
Biggest problem is Parcells' history of reliance on the run, which he just abandoned in New Orleans. Martin might have been a little dinged up but this is the Super Bowl. Kid needs at least 25 carries if you're serious about winning. Preferably 30.
Can't say this about the coaches, but I was never fooled about Bledsoe. Or Eason.
Yup but that plane trip back from the Bayou included the crucial conversation between Kraft & Belichick where they established a rapport which has had colossal consequences in the sport which resonate to this day.Screw Tuna Crap and the horse he rode out on (without the team as we all remember).
If you want to give credit to someone give it to Ray Perkins for hiring Belichick before he hired Tuna Crap, who kept Bill under his thumb for as long as he could. Tuna then tried to continue to keep Belichick under his thumb when he "quit" coaching the Jete. Luckily BB saw through that bs.Yup but that plane trip back from the Bayou included the crucial conversation between Kraft & Belichick where they established a rapport which has had colossal consequences in the sport which resonate to this day.
I have to credit Parcells for his utilization of Belichick on three teams. BB cut the cord on Day 4 of Y2K, but there's no doubt both men mutually benefitted from this relationship immeasurably.
Inside Bill Belichick's resignation as the Jets' coach 20 years ago
The coach's departure from the New York franchise is still shrouded in mystery, but here's what we do know from that 48-hour period when he left for the Patriots.www.espn.com
"Bill the GM" is crushing it!

It seems like you and a few other fans have forgotten how Tuna Crap tried to screw this team over while he was the HC here. I don't forget and I never will. F*** him.
Looking at the Saints Spotrac last season, I had no idea how they could even field a team this season. I don't know what they did, but their offseason wasn't as drastic as I would have guessed. I guess there are ways but they could use a season like last year for the Pats where they just take their medicine for a year.Holy mother of God, look at the Saints.

The GOAT!!!
lol SB, I was actually talking about that with my brother this weekend. We were talking about TB-MVP and BB-Coach of the year and the possibility of meeting in the SB and we were like, I wonder if there was ever a MVP or Coach of the year that won the Super Bowl.Last coach of the year who also won the Super Bowl was BB in 2003. Before that was Vermeil in 99. Before that you'd have to go back to the 80s.
So um...should we want BB to win it? Lol
That's interesting! I wonder if a COTY has ever faced an MVP QB in the Super Bowl. I know they've been on the same side (Cam + Rivera in 2015 and of course BB and Brady in 2007)lol SB, I was actually talking about that with my brother this weekend. Maybe there'll be a power outage or something and the game will end in a tie.lol SB, I was actually talking about that with my brother this weekend. Unfortunately, neither the MVP or Coach of the Year can win the Super Bowl, so the game would go into overtime, followed by a second overtime, third overtime, etc. for eternity.
