Bettis and Big Ben crying again about Patriots cheating in 2004 AFC championship game

Everything that Bettis says happened on that 4th an 1 play is false or nonsense.

He said that NE called a timeout.
They didn't. There was an official's TO for a measurement.

He said that Bill called NT Ted Washington to the sideline to give them the Steelers play call, and mentions it twice, saying that he disctinctly remembers it, and asks why would you call over a 400 lb guy.
But... Ted Washington didn't even play for the Patriots in 2004. Only 2003, when the beat the Colts in the AFCCG.
The video shows Bill calling over (edit) LB Ted Johnson, #52, instead, and shows big #98 (NT Keith Traylor) staying at midfield.

He says that the Patriots knew the Steeler's HAND SIGNAL calling for a certain running play.
So freakin' what? Deciphering the opponents hand signals has ALWAYS been fair game.

He's dumb as a box of rocks.

You can see the play in question on the game video at ~15:40.

The article was highlighting this and I was cackling at how goddamn wrong he was hahahaha.

The memo said: “Videotaping of any type, including but not limited to taping of an opponent’s offensive or defensive signals, is prohibited on the sidelines, in the coaches’ booth, in the locker room or at any other locations accessible to club staff members during the game.”
That memo that said that was released in the 06 offseason

If you pat your head twice (for example), and it's reliably determined to be a run up the middle every single time... why the hell WOULDN'T a team act on that? That's not even illegal. That's basic pattern recognition, not so much "stealing" not-so-secret information. It would be another matter entirely if they hacked someone's email, or broke into their house, to steal some papers that revealed signals, plays, etc. But that's nowhere close to what's ever been alleged anyway.
Jim Miller Who was a Qb in the league for several teams, said they did that practice on a lot of the teams he was on. Nobody wants that news cause its boring. If it was the cardinals that did it, nobody would even care. Its no different when the vikings were heating footballs on the sideline on camera, and it barely made the back page of ESPN

Didn't the Pats actually violate that memo?

My favorite part of that whole thing was when Jets fans decided that a violation of a memo a couple of years later was enough of a reason to void the Pats SB wins in 2001, 03 and 04.

yea, memo went out right before week 1 kickoff, belichick interpreted it as he always has that they werent using video during games so they were fine.. Jets were looking for it because of Ratgini, media in NY was ready to run with whatever narrative the NFL thru out and the rest is history

Spygate wasnt as annoying as Deflategate tho... spygate was basically disproven in that 2007 season alone when they broke records and nearly went undefeated, and then continued to prove it from 2007-2019 so its a non issue at this point except for jealous bitter people with an axe to grind

Deflategate was way more of an egregious attack than Spygate was

speak of the devil...

and Asante hates Belichick.. so would be perfect opportunity for him to throw daggers at BB but instead calls out their BS

just old timers talking about what could have been

I could care less what either of those idiots have to say, they miss the limelight and they decide to bring this up to get attention that they miss.

Former players for the Steelers, Colts and Chargers should have yearly reunions so they can talk about how many more Super Bowls they could’ve of won if it wasn’t for the big, bad, mean Patriots.

Does anyone know why that game was brought up? I mean it was played in January and it was 2005 so there is no anniversary or anything this year.

I always cringe watching uncoordinated Jordan Richards here. He's on the 5-yard line at the start and inexplicably falls over in the end zone after Harmon makes the interception. He's also the one who somehow missed tackling JuJu at midfield on the long play earlier in the drive because he again inexplicably fell over.

Watch him for the entirety of the play in the GIF....woof

This never ends. Literally every team that lost to the Patriots in a big game has to have a few players crying about cheating without any proof.
F both of em. They got beat soundly fair and square.
The reason there's no proof is it never happened

What you can’t do is film the signs
Sure you can, Belichick just did it from a location Goodell deemed unauthorized.

Instead of a phone call with a friendly reminder,

Jets boy Goodell punished the Patriots like they committed bloody murder.

Even after DefameGate, does Kraft realize his adopted son is actually Satan? No, he defends Goodell by saying he was put up to it by the other owners.

For a guy who sought to distance himself from and prove himself to be better, Robert has in many ways sunk himself in the same class as Billy Sullivan. Hey, they're both human.

Brady had that teams number through out, from start to finish (career).
In fact the Patriots have had the Steelers' number.

Pitt won five out of six (two in OT) to start the series, then seven of eight in the Flutieless era.

But even those two Pats wins were on the way to the Super Bowl, 1996 & (but for Dreith) 1976.

About time.

So calling a TO is a sign of some kind of cheating? These guys are delusional.
...and 95% of the rest of the world agrees with them, and 4% don't care but go along anyway because 'it must be true'
