Bettis and Big Ben crying again about Patriots cheating in 2004 AFC championship game

No, stealing signs is still allowed even today. What you can’t do is film the signs. But you don’t need to film signs to steal them, especially if the team never changes them up during the game.

Regardless, this is just more crying by losers.
Their coach even said on TV that stealing signs was ok and part of the game.

Ah okay then spygate even now sounds more ridiculous lol

It can get confusing which playoff loss the Steelers are crying about, but Brady was knocked out of the 2001 AFCCG and the Patriots scored on a blocked FG. Bettis and Roethlisberger are crying about the 2004 AFCCG.

Anyway, there’s more credible evidence that Roethlisberger committed rape and got away with it than the Patriots stole their signals.
my bad - 2004 was the incredible Brady bomb to Deion.

Oh right the memo didn't get sent until 2006 if I'm not mistaken

the Memo was around the location of cameras and where teams can film

actually you can film signals, but only from specific designated locations

The memo said: “Videotaping of any type, including but not limited to taping of an opponent’s offensive or defensive signals, is prohibited on the sidelines, in the coaches’ booth, in the locker room or at any other locations accessible to club staff members during the game.”

Bill and team should look for the Jets camera who filmed BallsGate and see if that camera was in a legal place... if not then demand draft picks get taken away.

ah yea that language sounds familiar, i thought there was also detrails about how the camera has to be enclosed (sort of like the review booth cameras)

but the semantics of that suggests that its perfectly legal to tape signals, so long as its not done from a location that is accessible to club stuff during the game

Everything that Bettis says happened on that 4th an 1 play is false or nonsense.

He said that NE called a timeout.
They didn't. There was an official's TO for a measurement.

He said that Bill called NT Ted Washington to the sideline to give them the Steelers play call, and mentions it twice, saying that he disctinctly remembers it, and asks why would you call over a 400 lb guy.
But... Ted Washington didn't even play for the Patriots in 2004. Only 2003, when the beat the Colts in the AFCCG.
The video shows Bill calling over (edit) LB Ted Johnson, #52, instead, and shows big #98 (NT Keith Traylor) staying at midfield.

He says that the Patriots knew the Steeler's HAND SIGNAL calling for a certain running play.
So freakin' what? Deciphering the opponents hand signals has ALWAYS been fair game.

He's dumb as a box of rocks.

You can see the play in question on the game video at ~15:40.

The enclosed part is in the rule book, not the memo (i think). I think the in-game argument was Bill's, which unsurprisingly, got nowhere with Goodell.

No problem. Like I said, there are multiple examples so they can get mixed up.

A few more thoughts about that game: One of the reasons that the Steelers and their fans can't get over that AFCCG loss is because they beat the Patriots in Pittsburgh in the regular season. Heading into that game, Corey Dillon and Deion Branch were both out with injuries. During the game, Matt Light and Ty Law got hurt. It's not surprising that the Patriots lost on the road against a very good team when they were without their #1 running back, one of their best wide receivers, their left tackle and their #1 corner. Given those circumstances, a Patriots win would have taken a miracle. When they met again in the playoffs, Light, Branch and Dillon were all back and, while Law was on IR, the team had solidified their secondary since his injury.

Additionally, the Patriots finished 14-2 that season, one game behind Pittsburgh. It's not like they lost to the Steelers and then were inconsistent the rest of the year, squeaking into the playoffs as a wild card. In the divisional round, the Patriots throttled the Colts, 20-3 (this was Manning's 49 TD season.) The Steelers had their hands full with Jets and had to endure watching the Jets miss 2 4th quarter FGs that would have won the game before Pittsburgh won in OT. I get that the Steelers were confident heading into the AFCCG. Any team in their situation should believe they could win their next game. Believing that they were guaranteed to win and any loss must be due to chicanery is just being detached from reality, especially considering the Patriots team they were facing in January was playing well and was much healthier than the one they beat in October.

Squealers...whining...

Roethlisberger is human garbage, and Bettis has always been a loser.

In addition...

The Steelers didn't use any hand signals to send in the play. You can clearly see Cowher calling the play in via his headset while he covers his mouth.

Belichick clearly told Johnson "Goal line". Duh - 4th and 1 with Bettis out there, you better plan on a run up the gut.

Roethlisberger clearly did not change the play at the line of scrimmage, so even then, no hand signals in use.

And last but not least... EVERYONE knew that was a run up the gut.

They talked about this a while back and said the Pats were barking out their plays.

Giants were immediately accused of the same thing during their fluke year in 2000.
