I was too young to see Shula until his twilight, but the numbers clearly point to Bill. The only Coach that is going make some noise is Andy Reid - especially if the Chiefs 3 peat.

Have to give Reid credit, he’s coaching only the 2nd true Dynasty of the salary cap/free agent era. The Chef’s are a really well run organization.

Agreed but the Chiefs owners don't even live in KC, they were a loosing franchise for years. They stumbled upon patty Mahomes and started to win. No one I can say with conviction is passing Bill with 8.. Reid isn't coaching into his 70s and Mahomes isn't playing into his 40s...

Bill has 6 rings as a head coach, and this discussion is about head coaches, not coaching careers. Reid has 3, and is unlikely to pass Belichick, but it’s not impossible. And the Chef’s didn’t get lucky with Mahomes, they targeted him and traded up for him. It’s far easier to make a case that the Patriots got lucky with Brady than it is the Chef’s got lucky with Mahomes. The Patriots passed on Brady until the 199th pick.

Where ownership lives is irrelevant, they are all billionaires with multiple residences, and why would anyone in their right mind live in Kansas City anyways?

The salary cap/free agent era is the deciding factor for me. Creating a dynasty with hundreds of different players is much more difficult than it was bringing back the same team but adding to it for a short period of time.

I think Wooden would belong on a college Mt.Rushmore. IMO The pro coach Mt.Rushmore is Joe McGraw, Belichick, Auerbach, and Scotty Bowman.

I understand. But IMO you cannot detach the totality of a coaching career. Bill was a DC and deserved to be mentioned in the light I mentioned him as he was a unique individual as HC/GM. And I understand your point, I'm just making my points of how I view this. Also it does Matter where an ownership lives. So if RK lived in Philadelphia how connected are you really to your organization? It may seem miniscule but it's not. The Chiefs targeted Mahomes and he was projected to be a project, footwork needs work, ect was the talk.. sound familiar? But I agree with your overall post.

Agreed. As a DC and OC is pretty much the coach for that side of the ball. Bill deserves to be ment for ALL his rings.

He certainly was a better coach than Flores (who was no slouch) however Al Davis was the GM and picked the players. Madden was at his mercy
