Or, if they can manage to trade him, it's only $4.3M in dead money and $1.1M in cap space gained. Changes if done post-June 1st also.
They just gave Tavai a contract extension last season, the dead cap hit to let him go is too steep. Trade maybe, or maybe just hang onto him for another season then let him go.
Bentley is going to be 30 years old, coming off a season ending torn pectoral injury and entering the last year of his contract so he needed a new one. I predicted this could happen weeks ago. He’ll catch on with a team that can utilize his scheme fit soon enough, he needs to prove he’s healthy.
Completely disagree. Dude's an ******* who Sucks.
Jennings is an enigma to me. He is great at setting the edge, shedding a blocker, and tackling. But he can't rush the passer at all. I am wondering if it was more the coaching than Jennings' skill? Maybe Vrabel and staff can unlock whatever Jennings is not doing on passing downs. Jennings will never be a 10+ sack guy, but it would be great to see him get 5 sacks and a lot of pressures.
As I posted earlier, I don't understand why BB never made any moves to replace D McC after he depended on Devin so much. It will be interesting to see what Vrabel does at FS - he passed on the top FSs in free agency. Also it will be fun to see how Vrbel will use Mapu, Peppers, and Duggar. All three are smaller faster players which Vrabel likes. Interesting times ahead.
You keep projecting your drum banging onto other posters. You're still banging that drum about Jennings despite having been shown to be wrong on it. If Jennings couldn't rush the passer, how is it that he's improved his sack total each year? How'd he put up 31 pressures (3 sacks, 6 hits, 22 hurries) on 348 pass rushing snaps?
Jennings had 11 pressures on 158 Pass rushing snaps in his 2nd year, 21 pressures on 275 pass rushing snaps in his 3rd and 31 on 348 pass rushing snaps in his 4th.
Jennings was an excellent 1-Gap, hand in the dirt guy coming out of college. One of the biggest things that held Jennings back was Belichick converting him to playing standing up and 2 gapping.
Matthew Judon didn't put up any double digit sack seasons in Baltimore. He had a lot of hits and hurries, but never broke 10 until New England I wouldn't be surprised to see Jennings put up 5-7 sacks and 45-60 hurries this year if he's getting the same number of snaps, but playing out of the 3 point stance again.
Cardorna, Williams, Vrabel, McDaniels!!Cardona. EDIT: Nevermind, if you ain't first you're last.
So he's not an ******* who sucks? You keep projecting your inadequacies onto Tavai.
I sure am sorry Coach Vrabel..So he's not an ******* who sucks?
Because I'm pretty sure he's an ******* who sucks.
The post was about Tavai’s money, not Bentley. The quoted post had a big link to Tavai’s OTC page.Ross - Bentley was in the last year of his contract. That means that a "June 1st" designation is meaningless.
Bentley had 1.83M in Pro-rated signing bonus remaining. That is all that he will hit the Pats cap for. It's a savings of about 3.6M if you include the 1.03M from Alex Austin being moved into the Top 51.
Yeah, better to bring Tavai to camp and let him compete, possibly find a trade partner if other teams sustain LB injuries for the kind of money they’re paying him.Letting Tavai go would add 987K to his 5.4M current cap hit.
Numerous people said that Bentley might be let go. What's interesting is that the Pats hit him with the Failed Physical designation despite Phil Perry saying that Bentley was cleared.
Unless we can get a trade.. we are better off holding on to him. As you mentioned injuries happen last season should be a big learning experience of not having the proper depth.Yeah, better to bring Tavai to camp and let him compete, possibly find a trade partner if other teams sustain LB injuries for the kind of money they’re paying him.
I said Bentley might get let go a week or two ago, his contract was the bigger issue. He is in the last year of this deal.
The injury designation is interesting, don’t know if it’s to allow Bentley to save face or if there’s some savings involved for the Patriots.
Yep. Same as Andrews. Part of me wonders if they were healthy, they'd still be here and this is just a justification to let them move on gracefullyOh.
Well that certainly changes the narrative.
He's obviously not a pro bowler but he's had 225 tackles over the last two years. That should carry more weight than his stupid comment. So he's not an ******* who sucks?
Because I'm pretty sure he's an ******* who sucks.

I probably would have chose Bentley over him but with Bentley gone there's probably a spot for him.
Or as bad as this guy
