Belichick signed to long term contract

The real issue is he doesn't have a better option on the current roster so he has to.

As I've stated in this thread the number of penalties and unforced errors this team makes on a weekly basis brings into serious question if he is still one of the best coaches in the game.
I'm not sure the team listens to him any more

That thought has crossed my mind.
I remember hearing something about players tuning coaches out and i never forgot it. I don't remember what team or what coach except that he was one of the more famous. It could have been Gibbs, or Landry, or Knoll. The commentator said after so many years the team just tunes the coach out no matter how famous or successful they had been in the past. That All coaches have a shelf life. I have thought about this over the years in regards to Belichick. He has constantly turned the players over every year, so that players aren't around long enough to tune him out.

I think it was Landry they were talking about and the cowboys hadn't been doing well for years.

While i've never been a Cowboys fan I have a lot of admiration and respect for Coach Landry.

In my personal opinion he was a better organizational leader, talent evaluator and game day offense/defensive mind than BB.

What did Coach Landry in was his age and the game simply passed him by. He couldn't keep up with the innovation.

It's clear you still think hes the best for the job. That's fine. I'm not sold on that anymore.

All the other stuff you said are hypotheticals.

I didn't say that. Nice try.

Forget dynasty-like results. Since the Wind Game vs BUF in 2021 they are 11-18.

He needs to win.
Don't tell that to Ring6 100 years from now he'll still say BB is the Greatest ever. When in reality he's been absolute Garbage without Brady. Beaten by any HC with the title in the end.

Most contracts have termination clauses. There's no way Kraft signs a contract w/o one.
Most people are smart enough to negotiate huge buyout into the contract to reduce the ease of their termination

hopefully they didn't sign Mac Jones to another year.

Coaching contracts are guaranteed. The value of the contract is the huge buyout.

BB is the GOAT. That is indelible.

Forget the BB/Brady stuff. He drafted, developed, coached, and surrounded hm the Grade A talent for 20 years. Too minimize that is BS,

The issue is he the right guy for the job at hand right now.

Grade A Talent?..... you mean the years he grabbed the cheapest scrubs at WR he could find since he knew Brady could make then useful? - Aside from Moss and a lucky grab in Gronkowski in the draft along with Edelman who wasnt even a WR and Welker, who is this Grade A talent you speak of? - No one but Brady could have won more than 5 games with guys like Reche Caldwell as the #1

The sooner we get rid of this overrated GOAT HC with a losing record without the GOAT,the quicker the team can rebuild again towards competitive football week in and week out - This team will remain in neutral until he is gone - A blind man can see this team is falling farther down into the basement under his tenure and there is no way in hell the team gets into SB competition into the future until the team starts to dig itself out.

Doubt Kraft gave him the same contract he was getting when he was winning. Probably incentive based on playoff wins. Maybe that's why Kraft looks so relaxed. Shouldn't cost him that much.

Bill to Kraft probably in last offseason: « Give me an extension or I keep Patricia as OC »

I don't get why Kraft extended him. Only thing I can think of is he was afraid he would leave and create a ****storm. Somehow I don't think Belichick would be as gracious about being pushed out as Brady.

I also do not understand why people think a 70+ year old can be as good as a 50 year old. NFL is a very demanding job.

We have sucked for 3+ years; time to move on. Bill would have fired Bill if he were a player 2 years ago.

It's a smokescreen

First, if we are being real pragmatic, there is no contract without a dissmissal or release clause, whatever you want to call. It's usually money, and Kraft has no shortage of that

Second, there is no indication that this contract has been signed. It's all based on Rapoport's breaking news, so, at the very least, we don't have confirmation.

I can think of many reasons for this news to be made public, so it's all speculation. But, in practical terms, there is no reason to think that BB is unfireable, If Kraft indeed wants to

It was 100% made public to shut down the increasing fire Bill noise. No doubt about it. Also to force players not to tune him out. Players will react differently to a coach with a secure contract vs one half way out.

I get he can still be fired but the extension was a dumb move.

You forgot Deion Branch.

....and defense counts too.

If Tom doesn't have a defense finish in the top 10 in points allowed almost every year he doesn't win 7 Super Bowls. Instead he's Dan Marino.

Name other franchises to have that kind of talent and production between 2002 and 2018.

Every team has "luck" drafting players.
