Belichick: September may be an extended pre-season for Patriots

why can't "treating september as preseason" just mean that they're still feeling things out and seeing what works. you can do that and be winning, too. I don't get why it has to be synonymous with "we don't care if we don't win."

Its been that way every fkking year. Now all of a sudden SamBam PhD the all mighty all knowing savant who knows for sure that BB just dosent care about winning the first 4 games of the year because, you know....the games at the end of the year mean more.

Just when you think this place couldnt get any stupider.

The only stat that matters is wins and losses. By Bill saying that the first 4 weeks of the season are really just an extension of the preseason he is devaluing those games (whether intentionally or not).
he didn't say that they were JUST an extension of preseason. He said that they can be seen as an extended preseason in some ways but obviously you are trying to be as competitive as possible. He has discussed how different preseason and the reg season is many times. You are looking for an issue that isn't there.

Do fans pay reduced ticket prices for these extended preseason games?

Any person who has any experience of betting on the NFL, and really anyone who watches the NFL, should be keenly aware that it's week 5 where teams begin to show their true colors and begin to separate.

I point to the gamblers because they have money on the line and tend to pay more attention to the league as a whole.

This isn't a concept unique to NE.

The best "heading into week 5" ever:

"We're on to Cincinnati"

Actually all the games mean the same amount. A win in September means the exact same as a win in december

You know, I went and looked up winning pct before Brady left to see if this September the team sucks rule that people like to say, well no,
Pats were pretty damn consistent in all months with Brady, so you guys can stop using the, we are never good in Septemeber thing.
Septemeber 45-18 71.43%
October 67-16%
Novemeber 54-21 72%
Decemeber 69-17 80 %

You win 70 percent of the time, you are good no matter the month. Here is the last two years
Septemeber 3-3 50%
October 3-4 42.8%
Novemeber 7-2 77%
December 1-3 25%

So no, its not a september thing

They do? Shiiiiit. And I thought extended PS games were not worth as much

You are a beacon onfknowledge 71. I’ll be keeping my eye on you

This is just flat out absurd during that twenty years Brady and Manning usually led the two best teams in the conference. You're an absolute moron if you think the conference is more difficult now.

Way more difficult now.

The last 20 years, Manning was the only AFC thorn to the Patriots.

Now the AFC has Allen, Mahomes, Wilson, Watson, Herbert, Burrow etc.

Belichick with the Patriots by Month:

September: .671 (70 games)
October: .774 (84)
November: .707 (75)
December: .793 (87)
January: .725 (40)

.671 is still pretty good

That’s 11-6 over a full season.

You don't even realize the mistake your making lol

Sorry, I don’t play cryptic message board games.

If you have something to say, say it. Otherwise, these cryptic posts serve no purpose.

QB wise sure

There was a lot of great defenses though

Ravens, Chargers, Steelers, even Jets in the Ryan era

When Belichick says he puts less emphasis on September by design, his record in September shows it.

In the years the Patriots WON the Super Bowl, they went 14-10 in September.

You may remember the 31-0 loss to the Buffalo Bills in 2003.

That was a team that didn't lose a single game after September.

Super Bowls are the only things that matter in this sport. The fact that you have 0 is relevant to any football related discussion, and when someone brings up the ring count of your franchise, you will look down at the ground and utter the words, "yes, sir - sorry, sir." Especially when it's someone with 6 rings who does it. You are to never make eye contact with your superiors.

Understood?
Kontra is that you?

You mean the entire 2022 season might be an extension of the preseason
