1) Kraft made a commitment to Mayo, obviously a terrible idea. He wanted to keep Mayo here while also keeping Bill's son.
2) Kraft fulfilled that commitment
3) Then, the Kraft's promoted Wolf to be above Mayo and essentially to report to the family.
4) I would be shocked if Wolf didn't get approval for his off-season plans with the Kraft's (more than once).
AND NOW?
There is not a lot to do anytime soon. However, the team COULD make McAdoo an interim coach and also hire the jets coach as an Advisor
For The Defense or simply as DC. We got a wakeup call when the jags ran 18 times in a row without the patriots being able to do anything.
Covington was totally useless in reacting to the running game (for the 3rd? game). My gut tells me that the secondary coaches would have done better than Covington. We didn't want to lose Covington, so we promoted him to the level of his total incompetence.
