.....or when Aaron Rodgers renegotiates his contract, thus freeing up $24 million in escrow to make it easier for him and the franchise as a possible future exit strategy.

You DID see the news last week, right?

Once again, there is a difference between the Present tense and the Future tense

Endings happen. Are you upset at Tom Brady and the Krafts for addressing that last week? If that upsets someone to the point that he wants to close his eyes, put his hands over his ears, scream la la la, and tell others that they should never mention it, then that is THAT person's issue.

Saw the news and imo it means, nothing other than that Brady is very confident in his abilities. If Belichick starts showing signs of dementia then I will give the idea that they are getting ready to go to Garrapolo some credence, nothing else would explain the idea of getting rid of one of the top 3 players in football when they have shown absolutely no sign of deterioration.

Imo this is the Matt Cassel discussion redux.

Now shmess, show me anything from Brady or the Krafts saying they are getting ready to move on? I am pretty much positive you can't, all of that garbage is coming from media and fans, neither Brady or the Krafts or Belichicj have suggested anything of v the like. This is no differeby than fan attempts to read into body language.

So let's see those quotes from those involved, I will be looking forward to them, they would be actual news.

The news was that he released them from some guarantees, nowhere was there any "news" that any of those involved are looking at moving on, that is purely fan and media speculation and I challenge you to show anything that qualifies as "news" otherwise.

Or you can explain how getting rid of a to 3 MVP candidate on a team friendly deal makes any sense at all? Belichick says he always does what is best for the team,so how does getting rid of Brady accomplish that?

Brady renegotiates contract for the billionth time + X = future exit strategy for Patriots?

I must be missing a key part of this story only 98.5 listeners are in the know about.

That's good. When has the Patriots organization ever come out to the press to talk about moves they might make in the future?

Sure, I can see it now - - Kraft: "If Brady's pass completion pct goes below 55% in 2016, we may ask him if he'd like to go to San Francisco".

Hey, Ivan, show me anything where Bill Belichick said "I guarantee we will win this game".

The contract was renegotiated for a reason, no? Or was it just to pad some lawyer's billing fees?

People are mistaking "news" for shock-jock conjecture.

It's obvious what's going on here.

Felger and Mazz are taping all the Patriots contract negotiations.

I guess we agree, not news, but really, just. Speculation

Exactly.

To quote Jim Morrison: "The future's uncertain and the end is always near".

Embrace the uncertainty.

The people claiming Brady will call the shots on when to leave are just as wrong in their unfounded certitude as those saying that he should be dumped just because he is closing in on 40.

So just to clear everything up, when you said "I guess you missed the news this week," what you meant to say was, "I guess you missed Felger and Mazz's baseless speculation this week."

You are still trying to prolong this, aren't you?

I am not in New England and if I were, I wouldn't listen to those two if someone paid me. You seem to be more of an expert on their work, though.

I did find the Barnwell analysis in Grantland, however, as a good possibility (possibility) on what it meant.

If you want to continue with the strawman argument about a radio show I have never heard, please do.

Right there. Thank you for your honesty.

Most posters here are fans of the New England Patriots T-E-A-M.

I guess it is hard for us to be sermonized to by someone whose initial "reason for liking the Patriots" is one player.
I wasn't talking about me. I know plenty of Patriots fans that like them when Brady took over.

Simply pointing out that after all that, it wasn't news, which is was it was being paraded around as.

Tom Brady got a raise. Story over.

I wonder if Green Bay fans are whiling away their time discussing how best to get rid of Aaron Rodgers?

What am I thinking? Of course they are, they're savvy fans.

Me? I am actually going to wait until he's not in the discussion for MVP to wonder whether he is slipping or not. I have this really strange belief that players who are among the top 2-3 at their position, or in Brady's case 2-3 in the league period, are worth having around.

Our they could just dump him for a completely unknown commodity, because that makes perfect sense when you are replacing the GOAT.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.
I bet they spent a lot of time discussing how to get rid of Brett Favre at the end there.

Actually they offered him 20 million dollars to retire so they could retire their beloved quarterback a Packer.

So you're wrong again.

They didn't try to trade him to a 2-14 team for a 6th, and their fans didn't water at the mouth at the thought of it.

Nobody has suggest that the Pats are going to try and trade Brady to a 2-14 team for a 6th, nobody here (despite your fantasies) is watering at the mouth at the thought of it, but go ahead and enjoy your strawman.

Ah, yes, someone has suggested that. James was pushing for it in week #4, which is why I called him out on his latest attempt earlier in this thread to start pushing his beloved narrative again. It was tough for him to do it while Brady was annihilating every division leader in football, so he had to wait for a contract renegotiation to start in with it again.

It's cool, though, because James, by his own admission, is only a garden variety troll, and not a professional one. That's why I love him. It's the professionals you need to watch out for.

I said it in week #4 when the sharks were circling, and I'll say it again now in light of this new wave of utterly baseless nonsense: Tom Brady isn't going anywhere.

Congratulations on your raise, Tom. You deserve it

Edit: Did I say "wave"? I mean miniscule, barely noticeable ripple.

Favre: Packers' $20M offer to stay retired
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3514071

Brett Favre, convinced that Green Bay will never permit him to compete to be its starting quarterback and recognizing its unwillingness to ship him to an NFC North rival, is actively considering an offer from the Packers that would provide the quarterback a paid lifetime role with the franchise that would not involve playing.

So you were saying something about Favre?

I don't know what point you think you're making with this. It certainly points to a pretty strong desire on the part of GB to be done with him, paying him 20 million to stop playing. Which is how I remember it, them basically pulling out their hair over it last couple of years he was there. Also, that lifetime role in the franchise? Not so much. Not that I think it's impossibly that Brady ends up in some role with the Pats after his playing career.

So what point is it you're trying to make?

You, six posts above.

I bet they spent a lot of time discussing how to get rid of Brett Favre at the end there.

The Packers tried to give Favre 20 million dollars for what would essentially be a no-show, do-nothing job, to prevent him from wearing another teams jersey.

So yeah... you were wrong.
