BB dragged Jones out of the field with him at the end of the game

Drama Queens

Bill knows when to lift up a player and ground a player

This was nothing short of him getting the camera off Mac drowning in sorrow to give him some uplifting words

Kinda like what Tom looked like after the MNF loss at KC in 2014.

Some players take losses extremely hard. Good.

Hopefully Mac learns from it.

All BB wanted to do was get the kid out of the situation.

Not sure he should have grabbed him by the hand but it was instinctual.

Whatever. A non-story.
Getting overly down on himself was a problem early in college that he overcame as a senior. However, it can't be ignored that his senior season was pretty much one highlight after another, he never had a game at Alabama like the one yesterday. Heck, he only threw 4 interceptions all of last year (against 40 TDs), he threw 3 yesterday alone, I'm not shocked he was disappointed in himself (I think that is why he had his head down, I think it was self-disappointment instead of being being beat up like some have interpreted). I do worry a bit about his confidence if he has a gigantic number of games like this one.

I guess I'm in a minority of one, but he showed some things yesterday that I didn't necessarily expect (because he never had that type of crappy line play and ineffective running game at Alabama) and many were positive. For one thing he pulled off some unscripted plays much better than I would have expected, both the two runs and he had some sidearm throws into the teeth of the defense that I wouldn't have necessarily expected from him. Plus near the end of the game he had a real fight and he never gave up, and being that far behind he took some risks that I wouldn't have necessarily expected. Do you think Aaron Rodgers would have thrown that last interception? No, partially because he is a far better QB at this stage but also because Rodgers doesn't want that type of desperation interception on his record. Mac was pulling out all the stops at the end of the game, to his credit IMHO.

Uh does Belichick really seem like a positive reinforcement kind of guy to you?
Yes definitely. He has been around a long time and very successful at it. He knows when to use words of encouragement and when to ground a player.

BB was right to lead him off the field. Sitting there with your head down, distraught, and possibly crying is not a good look after a loss. Take him off the field and help him get his head on right and move on to next week.

oh jeebus.........stop reading into things

Lol…no, I’m just saying it in a literal sense. Like, the picture itself doesn’t look good as a still shot with their faces like that. I’m not concerned about post-game body language…more concerned about what happened on the field.

I thought Mac played his ass off yesterday.

Just needs to level out a little. Don't get too high and not too low.

Can't throw INTs like that 3rd one or even the 1st one but it happens.

When QBs start trying to do too much thats when teams lose.

I heard after the game Bill made Mac put his hands up on his desk then Bill proceeded to smack him on the knuckles with a ruler. Mac cried, Bill screamed, but then they hugged it out and cried together like the scene with Robin Williams and Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting.

(Showing film today of the Smith pick-6)

BB: Hey Mac, you see this? All this ****? It’s not your fault.
Mac: Yeah, I know that.
BB: No, you don't. It's not your fault.
Mac: I know.
BB: No, listen to me, son. It's not your fault.
Mac: I know that... Don't **** with me, Coach. Not you.….
BB: It’s not your fault.
Mac: Oh god, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry coach.

Belichick isn't stupid. He knows his young QB just got beaten to crap and is down. He will do what he needs to do to make sure the kid isn't destroyed and seeing ghosts out there. I am sure early in Brady's career, Belichick talked him up from time to time. What we see of Belichick isn't what the players always see,

I think Mac will be fine. He is an emotional guy that can serve well and not so good at times.
His first start in the Iron Bowl in 2019, he threw for 4 TD's but also threw 2 INT's that cost of the game and a trip to ATL for the SEC championship game and a spot in the playoffs. For those who don't know, losing to Auburn for Bama fans is just the worst!
He came back in the bowl game a few weeks later and crushed Michigan and didn't lose a game for the rest of his college career.
I know this isn't college, but just letting you know, I don't think he is going to crumble!

Jonnu Smith and the run game(or lack thereof) would be top on my list of who to blame.
Yea BB must be furious, he goes out and spends big money on two veteran free agent Tight Ends to fix a huge hole his piss poor drafting has left in that position... 2 veterans to come in and help your rookie QB out, and he pukes up all over himself.. dropped 4 balls, 1 leading directly to a pick 6

Hunter Henry got a false start on a 4 & 1, at home in the 4th quarter when you're down...

Just ugly from a bunch of highly paid veterans

Welcome back TB12. The Patriots will always be my team but those years were a magical once in a lifetime ride.

Please fans give him the welcome he deserves....

I am really hoping the fanbase doesn't embarrass itself and do something stupid like boo.

My guess is Bill needed to give him a bit of a pep talk. Seems like Mac was shouldering the blame for the team performance (which Bill wants his QB to do - to an extent) but may have been doing it too much and getting in his own head. It was obvious that Mac was doing all he could while getting battered constantly and having his guys constantly dropping balls, among other mistakes. Mac wants to "own it" but if he owns it too much then the other guys aren't accountable for their errors. That (IMO) is what Bill wants to get right.

Or maybe he just wanted to tell Mac a secret under the bleachers, who the hell knows. We'll never know.

Agree on the interception idea. At this point, shouldn't a rookie QB be throwing some? What can I do? Will this pass work? What can I get away with? It's a balance, you don't want to throw 10 picks, but not throwing any isn't a badge of honor to me.

In a way, he's a victim of the whole Brady v Belichick thing. Other rookies on other teams it's understood it's going to be a bit of a crazy year. I guess the FA spending binge didn't help in that regard either, but the Pats were just spending to the cap, just in a slightly different way than usual.

He'll be fine, the Pats will get better. They're not as bad as they looked yesterday, if only for Gilmore & Brown coming back.

Looking at this sequence it's all very strange but it just looks like MAC was sulking and BB was just kind of like asking him to go do that in the locker room or something.

Mac was sitting on the sideline sulking for 5-10 minutes and then Winston came over. He had just gotten up and bill Was walking back to locker roo
After saying hello and hugging a saints coach. He didn’t specifically target Mac he just bumped into him and took him with him
I heard the fans booing on TV, what was that about and how often, loud?
