BB dragged Jones out of the field with him at the end of the game

It's not the same thing as hitting guys in stride; his accuracy isn't the issue. You'd have to re-read my post...it's about pass/matchup selection, not ball placement.

Ok I re-read the one before this post and still disagree. I was following the preseason pretty closely (and his college film) and one of his best traits is he throws it before a receiver breaks. Again, timing and anticipation are his strengths and he has complete command/understanding of where every receiver is going in the playbook. It's just that on this team Meyers isn't good after catch (but elite at route running and catching) and Henry is bad after the catch. And Jonnu hasn't gotten going yet. I think Bourne and Jonnu would best benefit from Mac's ability to hit them in stride. The other guys, they just aren't good after the catch. All this coupled with zero time in the pocket with a bad OLine, I will agree that this skill hasn't been able to be showcased much yet. We should be running slants a ton more, Mac is elite level on slants plus it punishes whatever defensive side blitzed from that area.

Why aren't we doing the All-22 threads anymore? @PP2 ? @KontradictioN ?
You mean the “rewatch” threads? I quit participating in them, so I’m the wrong guy to ask. Maybe with a few posters M.I.A., we can make it worthwhile again instead of a knob-polishing contest.

Those rewatch threads in 2019 were hilarious.

MATT LACOSSE IS SEPARATING!

Mac has no time to throw because he is a ZERO threat downfield. No defense fears Mac Jones. Only stupid defenses would commits' resources downfield against Mac10. His game is check downs and dink and dunk passing.

Keep blaming and pointing fingers at everyone but old Mac, eventually the truth comes out.

Mac completed deep passes all training camp and preseason. Tom Curran who has watched alot more Mac Jones than you have disagrees.

Deep plays take time to develop. Mac doesn't have the protection right now to make deep plays. He's getting swallowed up. The rest of the deep passes he threw were in garbage time trying to make something out of nothing.

He puts most of it on the protection not giving Jones any time

Let's put it this way. if you had to make a list of 5 reasons this team lost the last two games. Is Mac Jones the reason they are losing those games? I don't think he's even in top 5.

It was me and maybe one other poster contributing. I don't remember anyone else posting their own clips. All anyone else did was post Lazar clips. It got boring. Some posters say they want to talk X&O's but never actually do.

no, we just want a Patriots team that's better than 12-16 in its last 28 games over that span
We sure do. But for a team in the midst of a big change over 12-16 doesn’t seem so bad. Hell there are a bunch of NFL franchises that don’t even sniff that winning percentage. Have we been spoiled? Yes. Are some of YOU acting like spoiled brats? Absolutely.

I agree with the main takeaway that you can't do much if your OLine is garbage. And once this is acknowledged, have to re-shift the OLine players and also stop calling slow developing passing plays when you know your QB can't stay protected.

Too much work and too little interest.

I remember you broke down the Jets-Patriots 2010 AFCDG and pointed out all the reasons the Patriots lost due to inexperience and mental mistakes, and you concluded they would learn from it and were going to be scary while the Jets had used up their bags of tricks. Awesome breakdown, and the Patriots went to 8 straight AFCCGs while the Jets haven’t made the playoffs since.

You had that Dr. Strangelove avatar, right?

I recall one poster was adamant that Matt LaCosse was an all-pro, N’Keal Harry was a separation specialist, and Jarrett Stidham was needed, pronto.

Hopefully they will look better with Trent brown back. But bill is stubborn in his absence to not put his best 5 players out there and shift the line around

Oh It was painful. Idk who it was but it wasn't really fun for me.

I had people make fun of me for using correct terminology in one post and in the very next talk about how knowledgeable I was but I should explain more??

It really was the Evan Lazar thread though.

Posters would talk about how it was supposed to be a place where people could learn but very little asked any questions or made an effort to a real discussion - the smartest people I know ask 100000 questions. But there was no learning. After a while you'd be able to see if someone has picked up anything. That wasn't the case.

They also felt rushed. Again the smartest people I know are reviewing tape from 10 years ago. Those threads were done in like 3 days.

I think you need multiple posters really participating, taking their time. No worry about who where playing the next week or what someone else is doing. Take your time that's where you notice the good stuff.

I think it was also a perfect example of how, if you don’t have any way of trying to be objective, it’s going to be a cesspool of confirmation bias and agenda. What stood out to me was that, even though it appeared at first glance Brady was just missing some open receivers, is this a normal occurrence? How many receivers have typically been open like that in previous seasons? Are we only focusing on this because we’re looking for it? All kinds of questions like that.

Any time you analyze something, you have to focus on your methodology; if there’s none, you’re about to unintentionally create propaganda, which is what happened there. But there was a lot of great insight aside from the separation report.

I did, yes.

Yeah, that’s about when I quit. I tried to offer a counterpoint with photo evidence breaking down the coverage, pass protection, and the routes and it got tiring having to argue with Matt Chatham tweets making the receiver corps out to be the second coming of the 1998 Vikings. It was good when it first started out but then the low-information-pretending-to be-high-information crew wrecked it. Now that they’ve disappeared into the ether, I’d be happy to take part in it again, though.

Lots of QBs look good in training camp.

When the real football begins like now you find out who is an imposter and who is legit.

I don’t care who the qb is if the line can’t protect they’re gonna look like crap. Just ask Patrick how well having a crappy like worked out for him in the SB last season.
