Bam back on 53?

I had always thought that BB signed Smith due in part to Willie Andrews being nicked up. And during the Q & A soon after the signing was made, in re: Bam Childress, Belichick said something about certain players having a different skill-set, not better or worse, just different, and that sometimes that happens.

So I'm definitely buying into the idea that this was all about Smith's value on S/T's, and the Patriots possible need for depth at that area due to injuries. Clearly, Andrews feels better and Maroney's return to health played some role in it.

The idea that this was all about getting the Buffalo playbook, game plan is WAY overblown.

There is also the chance that BB discovered the kid just plain sucks.

What I expect of BB is to put the Patriots in the best position to win. If he waived Smith in favor of Bam, it should be based on fielding the best team to win on Sunday. What I do not expect BB to do is hold onto a guy who he thinks is not the best guy for the job regardless if he was signed yesterday, last week or last month. For anyone who doesn't like this, there is very simple reponse to you. Too f'n bad......

If BB was using Smith for info, why would he cut him now after Smith now knows our gameplan? Maybe BB was using a fake gameplan counting on Smith talking to the Bills after the Pats cut him

Yep. He probably figured, why not take a free look at a veteran WR / returner to see if he would be an upgrade over Childress. He wasn't, so rather than keep him on the roster, bring Childress back up.

Or, they didn't give him any of our gameplan and told him expressly that he was simply here to cough up some info. Probably gave him a few extra bucks for it too.

And just as the Herald ran an optimistic piece on the guy today...

Only a short time ago there were stories feeling sorry for Bam Childress being cut, and suggesting the Patriots were cold-hearted, now he's on the 53 and the "cast-off' for whom he was cut takes Bam's place on the unemployment line. The NFL really is a revolving door.

Bam is one of those guys you can't help but root for.

are you all missing the point? Belechick did the equivalent of a kick below the belt. signed smith got the bills gameplan from him and then sent him packing.

be proud. your team is built on a long history of integrity and hard work.

Right, and the Bills are the Kings of Inegrity?

That is why they drafted a OT who threw a cheapshot that possibly could have ended Mathias Kiwanuka's career.

That's integrity for you.

I wonder if we'd all be so high on Bam if it wasn't for the way he reminds us of two-way Troy- or how we try to create paralells between the 2. I like Bam, but he's not so fantastic in a vacuum.

Luckily we don't play in a vacuum then

Deion Branch isn't fantastic in a vacuum

No, but he's better than much of this board has given him credit for recently.

Actually, I thought Bam outplayed him hands down in the preseason.

I think he outplayed David Givens too.

Across the board brother, across the board - you don't think the QB had anything to do with it?

Yeah, we'd all be better if he was placed in a vacuum.

That this comes in time to open a PS spot for P. Cobbs it is really unsurprising. (I think he still needs to clear waivers before he can be signed to a PS, and IIRC the Steelers PS is already full.)

Smith was to upgrade the returner slot. If he did not do that so well, then he was not worth the spot on the roster. So Bam-Bam is back in and warms the ****les of our hearts.

I doubt they were really pumping him for much information as I doubt he would have all that much.

But Bam knows the offense and has developed a rapport with Brady and the offense. I guess that showed through during practice.

Patrick Cobbs was traded by the Pats to the Steelers for a conditional 2007 draft pick. I have no idea if he is still with them, cut, or on the Steeler's PS. But unless he was cut, we can't add him.
