Balto Safety Eric Weddle - Most insightful Opponent Post Game Analysis Interview

Some pretty insightful comments. Thanks for sharing.

I would have loved to get him back in the draft years ago. But not sure how he'd fit into this team with DMac, Harmon and Chung already on board. He simply was a FA at the wrong time.. if only he had become available this offseason and not last year..

They most likely would not have drafted Chung but you never know.

With what he signed for in BAL its fair to say Weddle is not into hometown discounts.

Easy to understand why Weddle is so good. He plays Safety the way Brady plays QB. Boy do I wish we had been able to sign him - Rodney 2.0.

Exactly.

Patrick Chung put in the best defensive performance of any player on the field last night.

Re-watch that game - - he was a monster.

It is going way under the radar, but that was one of the greatest performances by a Safety I've seen in a long time.

Only worry I have is that he looks injured after every tackle the past 4 weeks.

I think our safety play in general was outstanding yesterday. There are three good reasons why Flacco took checkdowns and intermediate targets almost all of the day.

He got DMac almost once on that underthrown incompletion to Wallace and Chung on that deep pass to Perriman but apart from that our three amigos essentially shut down the deep passing game.

We call that the Ihedigbo.

As for Weddle, great interview but that doesn't make this image any less enjoyable.

Give Weddle credit for filling the hole on 2nd and 2 after the 2 minute warning. But he got absolutely trucked by Blount! Blount put his shoulders down and absolutely blew Weddle over!

So is he saying Gronk is just a system TE?

GB: Did you have an idea what they were going to look like without Gronkowski, or did they surprise you?

EW: They run what they run. They just put (Martellus Bennett) in the spots (Gronkowski) would be. They lose a little bit of the two-tight end sets they like do and I think running the ball out those sets hurts them a little bit but they just plug the next guy in. That’s the system.

Exactly what I was thinking, Chung is having an All Pro season at safety.

Even cooler to watch it 73636347634 times...

BTW, that helpless heap, legs all akimbo on the ground to the center of the line just to the left of Blount (from the first end zone view)?????

That be Suggsy.

But at least he got to do a Barney Fife "They better not want to see US again!" leaving in the tunnel afterwards.

I had the good fortune of meeting Blount at a golf tourney early last year. What went through my mind as I was gawking at him was how big he is. Even more impressive looking was former Patriot Pat Pass. How do 175 lb DBs get in front of those types, let alone bring them down?

Thanks for posting - love his diagnosis of what we were confronting him with and his honesty; "But, shoot, at the end of the day it’s a three-point game and we give up an 80-yard touchdown and it’s mainly because of me moving around so much and not getting where I needed to go"
