Bad news from Peter King

In an article that I read, it noted that Butler's outstanding vertical leap made him play 'taller' than he is. Sure enough, I looked it up, and he has a 43 inch vertical (best at the Combine). And 5'10 isn't short for a CB, especially since Polian's hissyfit made most CBs of the Springs variety obsolete anyways since they're not allowed to breathe on WRs anymore.

I look at Belichick's tendency to draft sub-6-foot CBs as a pattern, and probably a reaction to that same "reemphasis" on contact rules. Of course, signing Bodden and Springs might be a reaction to that reaction, or maybe an experiment of some kind... heh, who knows.
Hobbs had a 42" vertical, ran a 4.38 at his Pro Day, and had quicker times in the short shuttle and 3-cone. Athletically Hobbs and Butler are almost identical. Butler is considered to have better hips and recovery burst. Hobbs is 10 lbs heavier and is considered stronger against the run and a better tackler. Butler may have better ball skills, we'll see how he develops and if he can take the heat from the Hobbs fan club.

The way i see it;

1. BB knows alot more than us about player evaluations. However, some of the "starters" in past years didnt work out for him. (starks,Bryant) Some of which were starters on other teams, but yet couldnt handle starting for the Pats.
2. The Pats have had a history of injuries at the CB position.
3. We would have more quality depth at the CB position if Hobbs was still here. Anyone saying that Richardson, Wheatley, and Wilhite are more proven than Hobbs are nuts. We simply can't say at this time who will end up being better. The same for Bodden. His history is shaky.
4. The only thing that was certain about Hobbs' future with this team, is that he wouldnt have been resigned for megabucks next year. Speculate about the trade all you want.
5. If the secondary is hit with its typical injuries, it could easily end up as shaky as last years secondary. We simply cant predict the future.
6. Yes, this aplies for all positions,,,,,,,except TE

The Hobbs haters can whine all they want about him, but they cannot question his effort, or toughness. He was atleast, an average CB, but that might turn out to be better than the rest of em. Springs is the only proven CB, and he has injury concerns, and is on the wrongside of 30. If everyone stays healthy, i think this years secondary should be much better, but based on the past, im nervous. I would feel much better had they NOT traded Hobbs.

and no cracks about spelling, or grammar. I havent slept in forever, and simply don't care

Don't you guys ever tire of picking on sportswriters? They are only trying to do their job. If you don't like the guy, don't read him.

I respect Peter King. His sources may be off, but the guy can actually write.

Lay off these guys, willya? Sheesh! Boring!

ESPN hates us, Peter King hates us, The Herald hates us, Marshall Faulk hates us.......bla bla blahhhh......

It's not the "Hobbs fan club" he'll have to worry about.

If the Patriots wanted to, and thought they could resign Hobbs, they wouldn't have traded him for two 5's period.

The more i hear from King, the more I'm convinced he's a storyteller. He's clever enough to not get caught and connected enough to have plenty of truth to weave his tales.

I've never been in a draft war room. Do they allow players, even "veteran players"?
