New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez is "likely to have surgery" that would end his 2013 season after Dr. James Andrews confirmed Wednesday he has a labral tear in his right shoulder, according to team and league sources, as well as a source close to Sanchez.

Sanchez still was trying to make a final decision on whether to have the surgery now to repair the tear and instability in the shoulder following his injury in the team's third preseason game, the sources said.

:(:( :mad::mad: :bricks::bricks:

It's still comedy gold. They have to pay him a ton of money to spend the year on IR. That's funny enough right there.

They were eventually going to go with Smith at some point anyway, so it probably doesn't make much difference.

Yes, but who will give us highlights such as

You all know what's coming, right? This year on IR ends Sanchez's career (or whatever it was) with the Jets. Belichick, trying to get something out of Mallett before the final year of his contract, finally trades him for a 2014 eighth round pick in an attempt to find the next Troy Brown. After everyone was blown away by he-who-shall-not-be-named this preseason, Belichick decides to take another alum from the QB factory in Jersey to see what he can do.

Now announcing, your 2014 backup quarterback for the New England Patriots.......

:scared:

Unfortunately I don't think we'll ever experience anything like that again.

The unofficial mascot quitting the team...the buttfumble...all of it in a nationally televised game on Thanksgiving night to boot!!

Those are once in a lifetime events right there. The football gods likely took away one of our potential SB trophies against the NYG just to allow us all the opportunity to view that last year.

I think you're going back to the drafting days of Troy Brown to pull that eighth round reference out!

Only seven rounds these days ;)

Let's hope that Sanchez doesn't come here as the backup anything, let alone backup QB! I could see him getting some interest for a shot as a backup somewhere next season on a cheap deal...maybe...for a very desperate team.

yeah..if anything, he'd be the backup in stall three of the 2nd tier men's room at the Razor...I said from day ONE he was a total turd.....Look at the money he ROBBED legally...incredible.

You have all seen Sanchez last game in a green uniform...or any NFL uniform for that matter.

He will be an Arena Football QB within 2 years.

Best wishes to Mr. Sanchez for a full and speedy recovery.

Hurry back, Mark!!! The Jets ran out of toilet paper!!!:biggrin2:

Remember when jets fans were saying his first 2 years were comparable to Brady's and were expecting his career to follow a similar projection? hahahahah

Well Greeno has a chance to make himself look just as bad... :D

The only people celebrating this news are Jets fans.

Everyone else is saddened that we won't get to see the second act of the Butt Fumble Comes to Broadway again.

His days in the NFL are done unless it's as a strict clip-board holder/Matt Leinart wannabe.

This is as bad as when Chapelle's Show got canceled.
