AVP; could be great for this team.

Liking what I saw and heard on his miked up video
Seems upbeat, very knowledgeable, encouraging and positive.
I think this guy knows what he is doing.
His personality could be perfect for a very young offense coming off a terrible year.

Possible perfect antidote to sour ****es BoB and Matt Patricia
Call the doctors Sam with positivity something ain't right.

There are plenty of ways to skin a cat and to coach a football team. As long as you have players who are willing and able to perform their duties I think you can win with any style of coaching. Hopefully AVP will be a good match for the Pats and be a part of the new and improved NEP.

the team also has McAdoo on staff and he has been an OC/play caller before he was elevated to HC
Thanks, Mayo have some solid Offensive assistants behind him that guy have some serious experience to help a young QB and the Offense overall.

I think they have some solid assistants whom ain't being paid peanuts to do their jobs.

You know, we all focused a lot on McAdoo being in NE to help develop Maye, but it just occurred to me that he may also be there to help develop AVP as a playcaller. McAdoo sucked as a HC, but he was a decent OC. He can probably fill in any gaps AVP thinks he has, or discovers he has as the year goes along.

And the Browns would not let AVP call the plays. Maybe there was a reason for that? Mayo as a first time coach likes AVP's demeanor. I have no doubt that AVP is a "players coach". Does a bunch of "players coaches" win a lot of games?
That depends on how you define a player's coach. Was Bill one? Is Reid now?

Play calling doesn't have as much meaning as it once did.. for example Brian Callahan in Tennessee didn't call plays, and in Philadelphia it wasn't known if sirani or Brian Johnson did... in KC beinemy didn't call plays... but I agree with you...I've been high on AVP the more I've learned about him.. so to complete your sentence there's rham and Gibson. I don't think enough people understand just how dynamic Gibson is as a player. 6'2 former WR, a phenomenal athlete.. makes guys miss in space, lines up out wide.. catches out the backfield... all you have to do is look at the game he had against our defense. AVPs going to have this guy in so many match up advantages.
I seem to remember a team years ago (the Cowboys?) using predetermined plays at the start of a game. That doesn't seem like a good idea and probably why it happened so long ago that I can't remember.

I think both Gibby and Rham are going to be very good this year they are both all purpose RB's. I think we are going to surprise a lot of Teams this year I see the upside of this new Offense a far cry from the recent trainwreck.

Van Pelt might be a great coordinator, we'll see when they start playing actual football. I loved his initial statements about creating a power run game, that's important.

He'll have a better QB than they've had the past few years in Jacoby, he'll have a potentially great QB behind Brissett. That alone will be a big boost for the offense, Mac was terrible.
Cam was toast, Jones flamed out as a starter after one season, Zappe never belonged in the NFL and it showed.
Having all the coaches running the same system will also be a boost. Last season it was reported the line coach Klemm was teaching west coast techniques to a team that didn't run that system, then he up and left midseason... just disappeared.

It wasn't just that O'Brien wasn't good, there was a power struggle upstairs between Jonathan, BB and all the coaches. There were a lot of injuries on the OL, WR and their QB play stunk... the collaboration failed. Let's see what it looks like this year with a fresh start and fresh coaches.
The coaching in the last couple of years was also wretched. No need to overthink it. There were also reports that Klemm was unhappy with the talent or lack thereof they had at OL.

Which doesn’t explain why he was coaching zone blocking schemes when it was not called for.

The offense was better in 2022 than it was in 2023, it might have improved a lot if the owners left coaching to the guy they hired to do the job… and allowed Bill to replace Mac when he wanted to instead of shoving him down his throat.

Brings back memories of 2 a days. Can’t help feel that coaching has gone soft, almost coddling listening to him. I never remember coaches talking like that. Lots more yelling in the old days…new times I guess. Wonder if the transfer of information is better this way?

Yes sir! I really think people don't understand what we have in Gibson.. this guy is just phenomenal.. his game is similar to laveon bell. He's bigger than bell though. Yeah the NAVY offense is dead and gone.. AVP is tied to cannon Drake.. I can't wait for camp brother.

One owner said bill earned the right to do things his way... that coaching mistake in 2022 probably was one of the worst coaching choices ever made.. but I guess he didn't hire them like he didn't select Mac or sign juju either... just saying wozzy....

Saying something then hiring staff as a collaboration is talking out both sides of your mouth. We don’t know the same exact coaching staff in 2023 with a different QB wouldn’t have looked substantially better.

Based on the words of his best friend on his podcast whose son worked on the Patriots staff, BB may not have wanted Mac at all in the draft, but was most certainly fed up with him two games into 2022. Based on another reporter BB wanted Meyers and had to be talked into Juju.

Collaboration is easy when you have a fallguy when it all goes wrong, there’s nobody to blame now.

I'm going to have to find my L.T.R.G. flag. I love the running game.

Both of you are wrong.

Bad coaching choices happen all the time and there are plenty of people to blame now.

That should help.

The dicenscion started in the offseason in 2022.. the entire offense, and leaders on defense privately felt bill wasn't making the best decisions for the team like he marvled at. McCourty for one even said so. The herald reports Callahan & guregrengian all went In depth getting reports from front office people down to low level staffers. The draft is really what caused ownership to have a collaboration. Bill likely didn't mind it.. his salary didn't suffer.. he still got his 25 million while assistant coaches made dunkin donuts money. But we can agree yes Mac wasn't the guy he was ruined.

Lol.. ok well bill typically made good coaching choices over his stellar career.. can you pull up some stats of who hired a DC to be an OC? By that logic I'll hire my electrician to do my windows.

Who Klemm? ZBS is more about agility when you don't have strength up front so it's understandable they were doing that because of the lack of talent. Too bad they couldn't pass block.

Also Bill as GM could have changed QB at any time he saw fit.

They looked worse with Zappe so....

BB was the GM. The buck stopped with him. Other people were free to give their input but if BB really wanted to keep Meyers he would have overridden what anyone else said. Same with the QB situation.
