Ashton Jeanty @ 4?

I’m less keen to move down to 10. I think it’s almost certain that Jeanty, Membou, Campbell, Graham, Walker are gone by 10. It would leave us debating Mykel Williams, Josh Simmons, Tyler Warren, and Tet McMillan probably. I’d want a decent package to go from 4-10 in that case.
I'd be happy with Simmons at 10. They'll need to double dip later to have someone to fill while he recovers but Josh is as sure as it gets long term.

This guys a real gem. The Mahomes Ped allegations were pretty good. This is a fan with a twitter and instagram account.

I’ve no idea who this guy is so take it fwiw

Its interesting to me that only he seems to be hearing “multiple reports”.

Yeah i saw that too but chose not to share lol but I do think there's enough chatter to consider it a possibility. I would be thrilled because it would put us in position to justify taking Simmons IMO.

Jeanty is the highest graded prospect on my board. I hate the idea of taking a RB this early. Esp when it's a such a good class. Another problem or issue or we. Is he'll be paid like a top 5 RB almost immediately. He's not LT (probably prototype if there ever was one) but he's close. I think he better than Robinson and will be a top 5 RB by years end. If we didn't need OT1 & WR1 and had Maye on a rookie deal I'd be a lot more open. Idk I don't like it but I think he'll be a top 20 player in the league excluding QB's fairly soon. It's tough to pass on that kind of impact. Again though this is a really good rb class. I think we'll never see a bad wr or rb class again bc of the body types and athleticism out there.

I think the Jeanty hype is smoke to drum up some trade bait. Similarly with the Jalon Walker hype.

Three thoughts on Jeanty:

1. He's an interesting test of the validity of BPA. If you truly believe in BPA then shouldn't you be drafting Jeanty at 3? I've started to think that BPA is a flawed philosophy. BPA, based upon whose board? If it's your own teams board then you can construct that how you wish and on how you feel about positional value, character, injury risk etc. However, in that instance, BPA is meaningless to fans because there is no consensus big board.

2. It would be quite funny if the only reason we were looking so heavily at RBs in this draft was because we were trying to judge how they stack up against Jeanty and weren't interested in them at all. We were interested in Jeanty all along.

3. I don't think we'll draft Jeanty. One reason I'd like it though, other than his remarkable talent, is that it would signify a generational shift in offensive philosophy. This would become an offense centred around a bell-cow RB and a play-action passing scheme. That would be the Vrabel offense, one not too dissimilar to the Titans Vrabel offense. That would, at the very least, be interesting.
It was a lifetime ago. But, Dallas drafted Emmitt the year after picking Aikman.I’m too worried about our OL to draft a rb at 4. But, it could work. Our OL are better run than pass blockers for the most part. Aikman is my comp/hope for Maye. Better athlete than you think. Very accurate.

We should of been beating this drum for a month. Make other teams that wanted him be willing to swap their first and add a 2nd.

People are really underselling the value of the 4 pick with assumably Jeanty, Walker and Warren on the board. We can’t trade back? I believe that to be absolutely false with those 3 players on the board.
Agreed. I'd rather take Jeanty than trade the pick, though.

I agree bakes, I know taking Simmons is a risk, but there again aren't they all risks on way or another. He looks good in training from what I have seen, so if any trade down happens then grab him.

You mean the Basketball drills he was doing at his Pro Day. C'mon. Well, "he squatted 225 pounds." C'mon, so did my Great Grandmother when she gave birth in Ireland. C'mon.

Yeah I've come around to Simmons at 10 but it's not because I slept at a Holiday Inn last night. It's because I like to gamble.
