Article on Hollins working with Chism

Yeah, it gets a little bigger in 2027, right?
Diggs salary is exactly the same in 2027 with the same Per game Roster bonus.

I do not expect Diggs to see 2027 under that contract. I expect him to be cut or to retire, honestly.

We have two 30+ year olds. Diggs and Hollins. Legal situations notwithstanding, you absolutely have to start preparing for life without Diggs. Same with Hollins. Some combo of guys already here that become the new veterans and/or guys we draft next year.

Doing a cut in one less step than the other guy, is essentially what makes guys like Puka, Kupp, and JSN into guys who constantly get separation and deep despite the fact that they don't have remarkable speed or outrageous twitch. Maybe Chism has this quality or can develop it.
.
My only qualm with him is that EVERY team has a guy or two just like Chism on their roster. There will always be another Chism to add to your roster and he will need another job to do to keep a roster spot while he adds to his receiver skills. Hollis is going to be 36 next year. My latest binky is that Bleaker (sp?) kid from IU. He's a faster 6'4 Hollins who probably could be had in the 3rd or 4th. This is based on my diligent 3 hours of scouting of one game in front of a TV.
This had me laughing pretty hard because I came away with the same thought after my intense study of 1 real time football game where I could only see the result of the play and not his release packages or cutting ability.

Same things were said about Welker and Edelman. Dime a dozen, who needs them?

Since we are going to obsess with WR's, I'll offer this suggestion. To me, I think this would be a great year to use the extra 4th round pick (or one of the 6ths to take a shot if one of those injured players is there. Kind of like what Detroit did with Jameson Williams a couple of years ago. Take next year to keep developing Williams and Boutte and let Diggs and Hollins play out the string, while a high quality talent that you got for a draft bargain heals. This is the kind of thing you can afford to do when you have a QB who elevates his receivers.
Yes! That’s a perfect use of later picks on high risk/high reward prospects.

Ken’s suggestion is a good approach to that. Follow his advice to draft one or two high risk / high reward prospects a year or even more before they’re really needed. Get them into the program and see how they progress in their first year. If they develop as hoped the problem is solved while Diggs and Hollins are still here. If those draft selections haven’t pannrd out take another shot in the next draft or go after the FA market, or both.

Biggest thing is to keep stocking the pipeline before it’s needed. Thats what Ken is suggesting, and doing it in a way that gets best return on investment.

Brady and McDaniels made a good living on Hoss Z Juke - Brady said 7k of his 100k passing yards were from that one play which he said was basically unstoppable with the right personnel. The 3rd receiver gets matched up on a linebacker and has an option route. That will be the target for Chism. Plus we need a TE to go down the seam as did Gronk. That's a need for next year.

Good points. IIRC wasn’t Hoss Y Juke the play they ran like three times in a row for Gronk in the Super Bowl?

I think Henry has shown he can do a good job on the seam. Nobody will ever do it like Gronk of course, but HH can do it pretty well iirc.
