Armstead Could Help Patriots Issues At Tackle Soon

Nice article!! Hope he does contribute right away and help us.

We were all so caught up with our O's woes/growing pains and so it was a brutal shock to see Wilfork going to IR early in the season when our D was showing promises of posting a stellar one.

Could you imagine for a second? Our own JJ Watt!

The guy has yet to even practice with the team. I'm personally going to hold off on projecting anything from him, except that I'll be pleasantly surprised if he plays a snap for the Patriots this year.

Until I actually see him on the field in game situations, he's a non-factor to me.

Armstead was working with vereen on the practice fields to work on their rehabilitation. Maybe armstead will be back next week for a few snaps.

I am a tad excited by this news, just a tad.

On one hand we have Gronk, an injured superstar struggling to get back on the field while on the other hand we have a guy with serious medical issues who has never played a down in the NFL, not even in pre-season, who fanboyz expect to be the emergent savior of our DL talent gap.

At the beginning of the season everyone knew the offense would be inconsistent with 3 rookie WRs. When we cut Fells and Ballard there was no reliable receiving TE. We lost our only reliable WR in Amendola, and our only receiving threat out of the backfield in Vereen. Still, it took losing Vince and Ridley before the offense completely stalled. Are we one of the best teams in the league? No. We are 4-1 with Amendola returning, Gronk seemingly on the verge of returning, and Vereen just around the corner. Given the situation, who would not have signed up for that? Probably gonna lose several games, probably in the first half of the season. Steady as she goes.

Book it, record it, we are going to be 13-3 come the end of the season.
Loses to Cinci, Saints, Broncos.
We will be strong come the playoffs with these players I am excited about. Don't rain on my parade.

Love your post and agree with what you're saying. We have certainly weathered the storm. We have been DECIMATED with injuries. No other way to put it. How many teams would suffer the blows like we have and be 4-1? Not many. Only thing I have to nitpick though is that Vereen I believe doesn't come back til week 12. Still have a ways to go before we see him unfortunately. But when he's back, look out.

If Amendola can play like we expect him too...and be more athletic Welker in the middle of the field, with Gronk coming back. IMO, that is the key. That will take so much pressure off guys like Edelman, Thompkins and Dobson. Brady needs guys he can count on. Right now he has no one.

Combine that with Vereen back later in the year and we're going to be a tough offense to stop. HAVE to stay healthy though.

As far as Armstead...I really hope he's ready to go. And I'm not expecting a probowler...but we need somebody with some talent at DT. Right now we have very little. We need someone who is a capable starter, Armstead could be that guy. Lets hope.

I have the vision right now it's week 8, I pull up to Gillette in my Ferrari, I'm immediately greeted by Kraft, we walk to the owners box, when I sit down Giselle walks over and sits on my lap, and we watch Armstead play like JJ Watt.

Why?

The initial reports were that Vereen's injury would sideline him for less than 8 weeks.

In Season IR they have to be out 8 weeks. Which would mean he is eligible come off the IR during the bye week. Which if he is on schedule he could be back for Week 11 against the Panthers.

Not sure where the Week 12 thing came from though. If Vereen is on schedule he should be back for the Panthers game.

I was only ever excited about the prospect of Armstead if he got to play next to Wilfork at the 3tech DT or as a heavy LDE like what the Seahawks do with Red Bryant. Armstead is not a run stopper, he's a pass rusher.

how about Tebow??...can HE play the nose??

I expect Armstead to give us the same production as we seen from Vellano this year..... I do think in a year or so he can be something special!
