Are we currently the best team in the NFL?

Greg Bedard tonight:

"Should they win the AFC East, especially after the Bills fell on their face in Miami one week after beating the Chiefs? Yes. Could they go to the Super Bowl? Yes. There's just something about this team that I'm not going to keep at arm's length anymore."
Uh-oh. That's not going to play well on Sports Radio, Bedard.

8-2 gets you squat and who gives a F about Best Team in the NFL This Week?

Keep focusing on getting better and getting healthy. Really hoping no injuries Thursday on the short week, fk the Yets

There's some pretty good teams in the NFC. The Rams, Seahawks, Eagles and Lions would all be very tough matchups.
I think Seattle and the Rams could be good arguments in the context of the question. To me, better arguments than Denver or Indy. And I don’t think anyone else is in the argument but the Eagles are on the cusp, but have played 2 fewer games.

I feel like you and so many others are so hung up on past performance, that seeing how things are in the present is difficult.

To my eyes, both Mahomes and Allen's best days are behind them. Not every QB plays to 40. Mahomes straight up lost them the Bills game a week ago, he was terrible.
They're starting still dangerous. You have to play buffalo once more

No. On pure results you have to give it to the Eagles right now.

They have the same amount of losses as us so far. But they beat the Bucs in Tampa like us, beat the Chiefs (another team you could throw in the argument), and the Rams who are a legit contender. The only losses they have is splitting the division series with the Giants and then losing to another contender in Denver.

Likewise you could throw the Broncos in there. They are also 8-2. But their losses are against better teams comparatively.

Colts also need to be in that discussion. Another 8-2 team, they share the same loss we have with the Steelers, other loss was the Rams who are a contender. Then they beat the Chargers and Broncos for quality opponents. They also beat a lot of the same teams we have faced (Falcons and Raiders).

So yeah I wouldn't say they are the best right now. The good news is that it's not decisive where you can't make cases for them against anybody. But yeah if you were running a football team and someone said "do you want to play either the Eagles, Colts, Broncos or Patriots next week for a meaningful game with high stakes" I think there is a good chance the Eagles would be the team most would avoid followed by the Colts.

Sorry if kc makes the playoffs they have the pedigree
The question wasn’t who had playoff pedigree. It was who is the best team based upon their play on the field this year

Why are they still dangerous?

We're in 2025. Chiefs are 5-4, and the Bills just got smoked by the Dolphins. They've beaten one team over .500 this year, the aforementioned Chiefs.

I'm happy to play Buffalo again. Light work. That team is done as a serious contender.

I’ll never respect Buffalo. They were a good team but how many superbowls have they won? With TWO hall of fame qbs?

The Eagles have only 6 wins.

I didn’t say there wasn’t a discussion.
I think we have definitely played better than Denver and Indy, breaking the 8-2 tie, but opened the discussion to arguments how they have played better.

I think Seattle and the Rams make the best arguments.

Based upon actual football played on the football field, not subjective “we need this” or “we are rebuilding” qualifiers, are we the best team in the NFL right now?
If not who is, and how compelling is the argument?
Eagles and Rams probably

They only have 6 wins because of schedule. They only have two losses. Beating the Chiefs, Bucaneers, and Rams is nothing to sneeze at. If they beat Green Bay tomorrow, it's almost impossible right now to say they aren't on paper the best team based on results even with the early bye.

I would throw the Rams and Seattle in that discussion. Right now Colts are the first seed in the AFC and Taylor is the best running back in the NFL. That's going to be a tough out for anyone

If we aren’t the best team today, we’re damn close, we will be in the years to come. When Henderson asked if he should score today, I realized how far we’ve come from that Week 18 team with Mayo and Milton last year.

Not to insult the late 90's Pats, but the Buffalo Bills remind me of them. They dominated the division for a few years, but bad drafts and personnel decisions allowed the Pats to now threaten them for the division. After this season, fingers will be pointed in Buffalo.

As far as the best in the NFL, I think we need more questions answered. Eagles are the defending champs, Stafford lead Rams have won a Super Bowl/been to NFCCG's and the Chiefs are the reigning AFC Champs. Until they are out of the playoffs, they are still the team to beat in the conference.

I do think the Pats are going to squeak out the #1 seed. Indy is tighter games now and Denver will face KC twice and LAC once more.

At least the 90s Pats made a Super Bowl

Based on your criteria.
NE
Indy
Rams
Seattle Those 4 are in the mix.
Point differential is a good indicator.
Those are the top 4 in that stat.
Det is 5th.

We are in the mix for sure.

Are we seriously having this convo with the statistically easiest schedule in NFL history? The Rams, for one, would eat us alive. We're closing on it, but not quite there. We do have THE GUY though and excellent coaching finally. That's for damn sure.

Spoken like an over confident fan
