Anyone else thinking Pats/Giants 3?

If it means that the Pats are in the SB, I am happy for them to face anyone. The Giants in particular would definitely cause a certain level of anxiety, but at the same time I wouldn't mind a change to see the Pats finally beating them in the big game. Bring it on.

pats-sea..book it

No, everyone imagine losing to the Giants in the Super Bowl for a 3rd time, I think that would feel just as bad as 42 but at the same time I would love another crack at them but f*ck I rather not chance a 3rd lost I would truly never be the same again

a 3rd loss to the Giants would basically just change the entire narrative when people discuss this dynasty in the future... it would literally be a nightmare scenario and is how Brady/Belichick would be remembered, losing to Eli and the Giants a 3rd time...

and then Eli Manning would start to be discussed as a potential GOAT with 3 rings.. my god....

People don't seem to understand this. The pats have everything to lose and very little to
gain by playing the Giants. Winning a Super Bowl against the Giants doesn't even the score, and it doesn't add anything to Brady/the teams legacy that another win wouldn't do.

But

A loss to the Seahawks, well that's a good team we already beat in the super bowl. Good for us for getting there

Loss to Dallas- Dallas has been considered the best team in the league. No shame there

But a loss to the Giants. Thats 3 times. 3 times the "goat" coach and qb dropped the biggest game of their life against a qb on his second head coach, and one thought to be fairly mediocre most of the time. A loss to the Giants would cause irreparable damage to way this team, coach and qb would be remembered.

Waiting for Joker's inevitable response.

Well untile @Joker gets around to responding, I personally hope there IS a Giants/Pats 3 superbowl, though I doubt very much it will happen. I am all for excorsizing the ghosts of the past, and beating the Giants in the Superbowl would do a LOT to heal some old deep wounds.

Personally I think the odds are better for a Seattle 2 game, which I would also like because it would be such a competitive game by 2 teams I like and respect and respect each other. Dallas/Pats would also have some compelling story lines.

However neither of these 2 scenario, though more likely, make me feel better than to beat the Ghosts of Superbowls past. But who am I kidding. I wouldn't care if we beat the Little sisters of the poor, just as long as Tom gets to raise that 5th Lombardi in Goodell's face.

Please football Gods NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Really I just want a convincing Pats blowout. The kind where the game is out of hand after the 1St quarter. Would love to stop showing the Earth a competitive nail biter every time we play in the damn thing at our sanity's expense. Too much to ask?

I would love to see Pats destroy giants in SB. Thats what would happen. Giants cant run so they cant win. Pats D is every bit as good if not better. And Pats offense is lightyears better. But it's not to be. Pats will be there. No friggin way giants get to SB. 3 road games fuggetaboutit. Packers might be best team in NFC right now.

Other than Pats not getting there I can't think of anything worse. It would destroy what should be two weeks of fun hype. Last time Deflategate destroyed the fun two weeks, I dont contstant re-hashing of 42 and 46 for two weeks. Those 2 weeks should be Brady worship.

I'm sure the media would drive forward walkie-talkiegate with extreme ferver going as far as to run unsubstantiated stories that wackado McAddo was using walkie-talkies to steal other teams signals...

The NFC is schizo or Bi Polar. I have no idea who is coming out of the NFC.

Those questions are already there. Losing a third to any team will allow those questions to exist. Losing to the Seahawks doesn't make Brady or belichick look any better.

The reality is, winning is the only answer. Beating the Giants puts Brady's stamp down on every competitor and team that has ever come at him. Beating Seattle means the last bowl wasn't just because of bonehead play calling, and that the Pats are levels above the clear second best team of this generation.

Just win baby, and the praise takes care of itself. Just lose, and the narrative is out of your control, no matter who beats you.

if we lose to the seahawks, people will say the pats should have lost two super bowls to them because carroll didn't run it.

i would rather face a stationary QB like eli or ryan in the SB if we get there.

Not to mention, if he won a third ring at our expense, he wouldn't have to share credit with Tom Coughlin.

I disagree

Losing another one would suck, but losing to Potato manning would forever alter the way history views this team.

It also would open the door to "if Brady is supposed to be the goat, what do we call the guy who won 3 rings off him"

I would actually prefer playing the Giants over the Seahawks and not simply due to how the teams are constructed. A third Super Bowl loss to the Giants would obviously suck in the sense that another opportunity to win a Super Bowl wasn't met, but would mean very little in the narrative standpoint. The perception already exists that the Giants have our number, what's a third win to do? However if we win, that narrative is certainly weakened, and might go away entirely. As for Seattle, right now we have bragging rights over them. No matter the bravado they consistently demonstrate, we will always have the Malcolm Butler play over them to immediately silence them if need be, and I don't want the score to potentially be even on that to be honest.

I just hope the Pats

This this this.

Lose for a third time and there is a forever change to the TB/BB legacy.

Win and the Giants/NY Media and rest of the league can legit say so what? We're still one up on you.

That being said I would personally love to beat them this year. I have faith in the Pats and there is no team I'd rather see.

Our best matchup would be against Dallas, Seattle, Detroit maybe. Don't want any part of Giants, Packers type teams.

Even if Pats beat Giants, it will never erase SB 42. Heck if the Pats won five straight SB's, that game will never be forgotten.

I would be hesitant to include SEA as one of our "best matchups," considering that we were rather lucky just to win 1/3 lately.

To be completely honest, they are the NFC team who I'd least like to see if we're lucky enough to even have that conversation. Lots of people seem to like making assumptions this time of year.
