Any suggestions on 2017 Patriots viewing for us out-of-towners?

I'd advise looking into Plex. You can use an HD antennae with it and I believe it allows you to record. I haven't bought an HD antennae for my plex server yet but I want to.

Isn't it such ******** that TV manufacturers don't include recording capabilities for antenna broadcast TV but the same models in Europe support recording(with an external HDD).

$99 for NFL ticket?

lol is that not already cheap enough for you?

I found the Kodi on the fire stick to be underpowered. I have Kodi running on a Raspberry Pi 3. I haven't streamed games yet but tomorrow is the test. I use it a lot. It's a pain to set up the first time ( not half the nightmare of the Firestick ) so PM me for hints.

Basically you download an image to an SD card called NOOBS then pop it in your Raspberry Pi and turn it on. Configure it to boot to OBMC and Raspian if you want a Linux desktop (I never use it). It prompts you to select the OS at startup.

Configuring Kodi is easy once you know where to click.

Ummm...

Say what? What planet you from?

I've been getting Sunday ticket for 10 years but this year I looked at the price tag and saw probably half the games will either be national games or locally televised here so I called DirecTV for a discount and when they refused told them to screw and cancelled.

Got the firestick with Kodi, and it works ok for the Red Sox. We'll see how it is for the NFL, I can test it week 1 for the other games. I don't need it until week 3 at the earliest so if it sucks week 1 and 2 I can see about my options.

Not being a tech-savvy youngster that grew up with an IPAD in my crib, is it easy and straight forward? Do I just go to Best Buy and purchase it? Are there any other hoops to jump through or steps that I need to take? I don't really understand the technology, but I think I remember seeing it at Best Buy.
I find installing "add-ons" in Kodi to be a bit painful actually, but there are sites that give you the 10 step process in pictures. But the steps are not intuitive at all.

It's one of the least intuitive things I have ever done ranking right under raising a daughter.

I bought mine on ebay with kodi loaded, all apps, and it was only like 10 bucks more than the firestick itself. Worth it to me.

Does Kodi + Firestick allow you to pause streams? That's one of my issues with Vipbox and the like streams. Sometimes I gotta poop, you know.
pausing your stream to poop? another guy with a iron prostate.
.

There's a local guy that puts an image on them as a hobby/side business. He even reimaged them for people when the Exodus Repository went dark.

I decided to build my own because I am stupid.

But now I have every new repo and add-on out there because I learned. It's an amazing media center now. That said I still have cable, Netflix and Amazon prime. So I hardly need to stream anything, but out of market NFL games and obscure television and movies. My wife won't use Kodi so we still haven't cut the cord.

Which addon did you use? And was it a peer 2 peer stream or just a one way download stream?

SportsDevil for the most part. And most of them were p2p streams but there were some that I had to download some weeks IIRC.

I recently called Comcast to switch out of HBO and into Showtime for my Ray Donovan fix......and incredibly, they reduced my monthly bill by $32 while boosting my internet speed and giving me Starz as part of the package. I couldn't believe I was talking to Comcast....the worst company I have ever dealt with. I did have to lock it in for 12 months. Give 'em a call....they're giving the store away :)

AT&T wireless is another company willing to deal. Call 'em up and tell you're moving on to a cheaper competitor....and low and behold.....unadvertised plans are magically made available.

Sirius XM....another easily manipulated company. Cancel your subscription....and they will offer you a bunch of reduced packages...but say no to all. They will finally put you on with a "specialist" who will actually ask..."how much do you want to pay".
For years I was paying $25 bucks for 5 month intervals... and after 4 years of playing the game, they finally offered a year package for $60.

If only the electric company would play ball

That's because Comcast is beginning to lose their asses over the cord cutters. If I had another internet provider in my area, I'd be done with them. When I called in to only get internet and cut out cable, somehow my bill was only going to go down less than $20 every month. I also told the retention guy that he was an ass (because he was) and his skills would be much better served in sales than the dead-end job he was working in. Hopefully he took my advice because he could have a lucrative career in the sales field.

that's a good sign, means you have a healthy prostate.
.

I'm very happy someone caught that little nugget.

You don't end up behind in the game threads or do you avoid them hah?

I don't avoid them but I might end up a little behind. Where else would I tell complete strangers that the season is over?

Firestick with Kodi. I watched every game last year.

I highly recommend a paid IPTV like smoothstreams tv or sportsaccess se. 720/1080 versus crappy quality and servers on sportsdevil and prosport.

I've actually cancelled cable in that confident in it.

How much does a service like that cost?

Do they have apps you can download for Kodi after paying?
