I just want to watch football.

Re: An NY Jets fan's opinion (backed by stats) telling why the Jets will prevail Dec.

Such thin skins around here.

So, here - I'll point this out for the final time - In a thread asking for a Jets fan's opinion "backed by stats," I was apparently brazen enough to ask for someone saying "Matt Slauson sucks" to support his own opinion with statistics, stories, jaunty tales, haikus - ANYTHING to support the bald statement. Got a nice attempt, but it took half a dozen posts to get it.

And then all sorts of lesser mortals who wanted in on the action surrounded me, shot, and got all flustered when I shot back. Ended up putting me on ignore; which, as you all know by now, is for sissies. I heated up when the firing started. I'm just better at it. And so it goes. . . .

I don't have thin skin. You take yourself way too seriously. Next week at this time we'll know the results, which will have nothing to do with stats, and everything to do with how each team performs on a particular night. I, like most Pats fans, like our chances.

Re: An NY Jets fan's opinion (backed by stats) telling why the Jets will prevail Dec.

That's not what was going on. But you are too clueless to understand that. Fabricating stats and reality. Ignoring legitimate, civil responses that basically tear apart much of what was said. That's why you, EIFMP, and Sundayjack are being treated like Jet's Homers/Trolls. You'd know that if you hadn't skipped the entire 1st 10 pages of the thread.

You mean the first 10 pages of the thread I started? I wouldn't start a thread then go to page 13 or so.

Re: An NY Jets fan's opinion (backed by stats) telling why the Jets will prevail Dec.

Who supports that their team is better than the patriots by pointing to the ultimate patriot hater Marshall Faulk's analysis. Have you watched him when he talks about the patriots, he has never said a nice word about them. he is still bitter about 2001.

Re: An NY Jets fan's opinion (backed by stats) telling why the Jets will prevail Dec.

Anecdotal. I follow both boards...
Hyperbole. Does "following both boards" grant you mod-like behavior, or was that an untruth? Where are you a mod? At "both boards", assuming you're referring to the ones Joker referenced? Your recent posts certainly seem trollish...

I don't need to ignore you, however. You seem to be trying too hard to get most to do that...

In truth, I don't take myself seriously at all. But, otherwise, I agree with this post entirely. And this time not in a sarcastic way.

Re: An NY Jets fan's opinion (backed by stats) telling why the Jets will prevail Dec.

Anecdotal. I follow both boards. We always get a new flood right around Jets-Pats time. Today was the story of a poster named Zeke_Mowatt, who signed up and posted a slew of gems about other posters' mothers before he was sent away.
If you check out his history both here and at the Planet, you'll find that he was universally hated by Patriot fans.
To bring his name up in this fashion is like implying that all people who listen to the Beatles act like Charles Manson.

Re: An NY Jets fan's opinion (backed by stats) telling why the Jets will prevail Dec.

I do not think that the Jets will 'walk all over the Pats'. I just am giving my reasons for a victory. I am stating how the Jets would/should take advantage of certain match-ups. I never said/typed anything about walking all over anyone. I don't think the game will be easy for whomever wins. I'm just giving my rationale for thinking the Jets will win. I am very much a homer with a Jets bias, but I come with statistics to back me up instead of just opinions.
It's too bad that Sanchez is one of the most inaccurate quarterbacks in the NFL to take full advantage of these supposed matchups. Or did it ever occur to you the New England Patriots are playing better defense now than in week two?

Re: An NY Jets fan's opinion (backed by stats) telling why the Jets will prevail Dec.

Keller had 7 catches for for 115 yards. It is absolutely fair to say that he abused the Patriots.

Edwards had 5 catches for 45 yards, with his longest catch being 13 yards, and he drew a pass interference penalty on a 23 yard attempt. Even tacking on the penalty, that would have been 6 catches for 68 yards, and he did most of his real damage on one drive (3 catches, 2 first downs and a TD).

NFL Game Center: New England Patriots at New York Jets - 2010 Week 2

How is that "abuse"?

Well he did get a 2 point conversion but your point is well taken. 'Abused' is a strong adjective. I would say he won the match up then.

Re: An NY Jets fan's opinion (backed by stats) telling why the Jets will prevail Dec.

yeah eifmp....I mean ,what Pats fan hasn't heard THAT Jet fan mantra..

If/Then...Jets weeeeeee-un!!!

The FACT of the matter is you were shut out, at home, after two weeks to prepare.,..THAT is a horrible performance no matter how many silk purses you slip on that pig's arm.

Here's another fun Jet FACT...in FIFTY YEARS, the Jets have won exactly FOUR AFC East titles...please spare us your moral indignation when we don't take your ministrations and protestations seriously.

Re: An NY Jets fan's opinion (backed by stats) telling why the Jets will prevail Dec.

Warren Sapp thinks the Jets are better because of the name Ryan and the fact that the Ryan family has been in the league since super bowl 2. Last time I checked, we have a coach who is pretty good too...

Re: An NY Jets fan's opinion (backed by stats) telling why the Jets will prevail Dec.

Well hey, we all know Jamie Dukes is light years ahead in his analysis than anyone else that follows the NFL. Whatever his opinion is, it must be true.

[/sarcasm] for those that actually thought I took anything Dukes said seriously

I honestly don't know what the hell you're trying to say, but if you have a deep seated interest in the backstory, I'm a mod on one of the Jets boards. That's pretty easy to check by just visiting the three boards and looking at the mod list. I come here several times a year. Until this occasion, I've had cordial discussions with Pats fans.

This time was interesting, because a slew of antsy posters got their hackles up about points that they superimposed on my posts. So I play along.

If you're a mod at one of the Jets boards why don't you moderate the filth that gets said about the Patriots/Patriots fans/Brady? Compared to what goes on at those boards, this conversation is extremely cordial.

Lol.. playing the titles card. The past has nothing to do with who plays next monday. It's not like Joe Namath is lining up against Drew Bledsoe. The only thing the past can be used for is experience, and even then this Patriot team is young and most haven't been a part of the glory days.

I could also say something stupid like, oh yeah.. the yankees have 27 championships the Pats don't even have 5.

Re: An NY Jets fan's opinion (backed by stats) telling why the Jets will prevail Dec.

That ROOKIE won his one on one match-ups vs. Calvin Johnson, including taking a ball out of Johnson's hands for an interception. Why do you think the Lions moved Johnson over to Arrignton's side of the field. And Johnson is significantly better than Holmes is.

Edwards was being covered by Butler, who is now fourth on the depth chart. Keller was being covered by a LB, not a Safety in that game. Are you really that stupid that to think that BB isn't going to change things?

The Pats will use the same techniques they used against the Steelers to limit the Jets chances. And that is all they need to do. Limit the Jets.

Clearly, you put too much into what stats say and not enough into actually watching the games.

I did see the game vs the Lions. Calvin Johnson had 4 catches for 81 yards and a touchdown. I don't know if I'd call that a 'win' but he did to VERY well for a rookie. I am giving credit given where it is due and McCourty deserves it.

So if Butler is 4th on the depth chart now, who replaced him and how will that replacement do against Edwards?

The Jets receiving core is better than the Steelers. Hines Ward is aged and Mike Wallace, while very good, can not make up for the rest of the receiving options the Jets present this season.

More current players on the patriots have been a part of the glory days than the jets can say about their glory days.

Brady, Branch, Koppen, Mankins, Neal, Light, Wilfork, Banta-Cain, and our coach.
