Amateur Time at Gillette in 2024

First time GM?- Groh and Wolf have been very involved in their personnel office the past few seasons, this means the Patriots can continue with their offseason plans for free agency and the Draft without having to start from scratch with a new personnel department. This is more good news.
I've heard the stories of how Belichick overrode his personnel guys, and I hope it's true, because otherwise I wouldn't be thrilled with continuity in that part of the organization.

Sam, are you ever happy? Seriously. No matter what they do, if it isn’t precisely what you want, you come in here crying about it? You’re a bright guy, you have to realize on some level that others aren’t going to mind meld with you and always do exactly what you want them to do. Right?
There's a very large swath of guys here that are fans of winning and not fans of the Patriots. It's eff'n ridiculous the amount of *****ing that is going on. *****ed about Bill, Bill's gone, ***** about the rebuild 2 freaking weeks into it. I swear to God...

I have to find a Gloria Trillo gif where she tells Tony Soprano, "Poor ****ing you!"

I'm out in LA at the moment...dropped a grandkid off at school and was chatting with one of the Dads (I had a Pats hat on). He asked about the mood in New England for sports.

I told him the truth: Miserable. Always, always miserable. Miserable talk radio, whining fans. Miserable. Sportcasters full of smarmy rhymes and all thinking they know best.

He couldn't believe it...would kill for the run we had.

You start the rebuild. Honestly if you’re not enthusiastic about any of the remaining QBs who fall to you, get the best player if it’s MHJ that’s huge, sign a better, Cousins or somebody in the same vein, draft for TJ e line, draft. QB later and try to build a team until you have the QB you want available

There's heavy speculation from the beat reporters that he's the guy.

If it was going to be Caley, they'd have hired him by now. Not scheduled interviews with 2 more guys.

I'm going to be honest. Mayo should look at Warren Ruggerio out of Wake Forest or Josh Gattis out of Miami for OC and Matt Luke from Clemson for the Line.

On a few occasions, when McDaniels was the OC, BB over-road them.. To his detriment every time. Bill clearly has a blindspot for Josh's lack of scouting ability of offensive players.

Be careful what you wish for. 20+ years of winning will break your brain.

It’s really impossible to know who is saying what, and who was pushing for who, but supposedly Belichick had to back off on total control of the Dtaft last year, and I thought that was a really good draft. Other than that the only thing I know for certain was that Wolf made the Barmore deal in the second round a few years ago, and that was one of their better moves.

Feel free to be as miserable as you want. Anyone delusional enough to believe there wouldn’t be down years after the longest dynasty in NFL history deserves that.
You tell em Corky.

First time head coach
First time DC
First time OC (Caley)
First time GM or co-GM's
Probably a first time QB

we all know how next year will go. Learning on the job for all of them. How could Kraft not insist that at least someone have some experience for the leadership positions on the team?
Apparently Kraft thinks his "gut feeling" will be worth a few wins.
Out with the old, in with the new. I like it.

I like it this way honestly. Now people can stop pretending that we are close to being contenders and a true rebuild can commence not just in the organization but in the minds of the fan base.
100%
The level of delusion on this forum the last 4 seasons has been of biblical proportions.

"Pine Barrens"

Quite possibly the greatest single episode in TV series history.
The greatest single episode in TV history was the Cheers episode where coach was being hustled so they set up a poker game to get his money back.

Eh, seems you might have overstated things a bit. Yes, a lot of us are pretty spoiled but those who've been around a while realize and appreciate how good things have been the last two decades. As a 30-year Pats season ticket holder I feel privileged and grateful, knowing how bad to mediocre things are in most pro sports cities. Sports talk radio has a disproportionate influence since their job is stirring controversy and stoking negativity to get people riled up/involved/paying attention. Boston-area sports fans really have few legitimate gripes.

One of the best things I did was to stop listening to sports talk radio, as all they do is spike and create controversy. At one point they were informative, but that has passed in favor of made up BS.. The breaking point for me was when Bertram was discussing the Brady/Gisele split was due to her wanting to be in Miami instead of Tampa, as the market for her services there better(how the f.. do you know that?). Another reason I left was because every time Bertram started some BS about a rumor he heard or a nontroversy he started which was obviously incorrect, Zolak (who knows more about the Pats than most) would either leave the booth or go silent.
Now I prefer some good old rock and roll from Pandora..

It sounds like big changes to the offense are coming and that takes time to hammer out and get everyone on the same page.

I still believe that Kraft wont abandon Corky like this. Anything that happened post Germany 2023 does not count. So, you're looking at a Corky Mac Jones body of work encompassing 10 games in 2023.

5 point loss to Philly
7 point loss to Miami
5 point win vs NY
35 point loss to Dallas
34 point loss to New Orleans
4 point loss to Las Vegas
4 point win vs Buffalo
14 point loss to Miami
4 point loss to Washington
4 point loss to Indianapolis

5 losses by less than a TD. So, ask yourself, does a WR like a Marv Harrison Jr move the needle and put points on the scoreboard? There is your # 3 pick if he is still there.

Oooh that was good.

No it doesn’t. Not with Mac Jones at QB.

you are not drafting MHJ to catch ball 3 yds behind the line of scrimmage which is basically the only thing Mac can do consistently. In fact, having MHJ will increase INTs for Mac Jones not TD

Compared to last year MHJ would certainly make the offense look incrementally better. Drafting MHJ is a decision that should be made based on the other players available at that draft position without considering who the QB is going to be. Mac could be a stop gap while looking for the QB of the future. Even if Mac returns to his rookie form, he has proven that he is not the stone eyed killer needed at QB to compete for the super bowl. Too many of the close losses last year were situations where Mac's mistakes at crucial moments snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
