All the Patriots cuts merged mega thread

I don't think cutting Larsen + Ohrnberger necessarily has to signal a deal. Wendell would be the top backup inside regardless, Bussey can play RG, and with Ojinnaka back game 2 they don't need to carry more than the active 45 contingent of OLs.

I agree with you, but they've got to do something. That O-line has 4.5 players and a whole lot of suck behind that.

With Woods that leaves 6 more cuts, but with 4 O-lineman gone you have to think someone else might be joining - so back to 7 or 8 more cuts.

Except that the cut of Woods has not been confirmed.

We had to move on - not every trade works - but knowing when to move on and pulling the trigger is important.

Agreed. Let's also remember that Hobbs was a nickel back that wanted to be paid like a #1 CB.

Ohrenberger = Ellis Hobbs

Given Ellis' proven capabilities as a KR, it's safe to say that wasn't a good trade.

Actually, it was Hobbs = Ohrnberger + Ingram.

Re: More cuts: Jenkins, Eric Alexander, Clayton...

Let's have a food fight over which thread to post cuts!

The Graphics are pretty much the best part of this Site!!

As a PSU fan, I stand by the Ohrenberger pick. The kid was a big leader for PSU in a year that they had a good team, and yes he was athletic and could pull and run block well. Just didn't have it for the pro game. An outstanding college lineman. Sometimes the NFL coaches and scouts just have to hope a guy like that pans out.

A lot of that suck is now walking out the door.

Why does BB even bother drafting QBs at this point? It's obvious Brady and Hoyer are going to be it for the foreseeable future. I mean, I guess just to see if he's worthy of the practice squad? Hell, I dunno.

Well, with that logic, they may have felt they pretty set in 2000 when Bledsoe & Bishop were 1&2. Would have been no reason to draft some skinny kid in the 199 position.

I just dunno why he bothers drafting the qb's, dude.

Hobbs is a starting quality CB. He was a starter in New England, and he'll now be a starter in Philadelphia.

Enough with the nickel crap.

Rappaport tweets that they are now down to 64 players now and need to cut 10 more (Ojinaka is on roster exempt right now).

Rod Owens been cut according to Rap

Maybe...just maybe I can keep holding on to the small glimmer of hope I have for Fletcher to make the 53.

Are Fletcher, Brown, Love & Owens the last UDFAs standing? IIRC, a UDFA has made the team every year under Belichick.

edit: just read about Owens, scratch him

Zac Robinson cut

Ohrnberger could go to the PS and the Pats could pay him a real salary like I believe they did with Connolly and Wendell. Seems like a pretty good approach with young OL.

If Belichick was really down on Ohrnberger, I doubt he would have put him between the franchise and large, angry DL on multiple drives this preseason.

Hardly comparable. He didn't like Bledsoe (near as I can tell), neither did he like Bishop.

I'd say he might just like Brady and Hoyer, though

Not true.. Rappaport was doing a RE-Tweet that someone else posted.. And I don't believe that person was correct. I listed out the names of the cuts in a previous post.

I believe so, and Owens was just cut.

It can be arranged that some posters won't be able to post on either thread, if it keeps up.

They will be merged when it's all over.

To be fair, similar threads got merged yesterday, without the weeping and gnashing of teeth. Merged or unmerged is a Mod's call, after all.
