And if we can't beat the Jets at home in Foxboro it simply means that this 2009 Patriots team is not a very good team. A team that can't beat the Colts AND can't beat the Jets in any game is NOT going to kick ass post season, should they somehow get there despite the losses.
The is a word that describes wanting your divisional rival to win and have a chance at the division so that you can beat them and take the division. That word is "arrogance".
Bingo! We have a winner!
Bleep the Jets and their fans. May they continue to pogo up and down geting their pathetic hopes up for a playoff berth only to have them dashed.
It's simple. If the Patriots can't beat the Jets, then by definition, they're not a very good team. You are what you are.

We were a .500 team when we lost to the greatest show on turf in the regular season in 2001. Oddly, that meant nothing in the post season.
What you are effectively saying is, if we can't have a dominant regular season we shouldn't bother. This isn't 2001 redux. Were the Pats to lose to BOTH the Colts and the Jets as I'd said, that's prima facie evidence that the 2009 squad really isn't very good.
This is what everyone said before last year's draft. At this point, theres not really enough roster spots to sign a whole ton of low picks.
I'm right with you. I'll never root for the Jets.Sorry, I can't do it. I tried to do it last year when a playoff spot was on the line for us and I crapped out after about 20 seconds. It was just too depressing.
The team had been on a 5-2 run prior to the Rams game, following an 0-2 start. Also, they were a 5-4 team, not a .500 team.
Pro Football Reference.com remembers it the way I do. We were 5-5 after that loss (aka a .500 team ten weeks into the 2001 season) only we didn't lose again until about a month into the following season...
