If true, this is a really bad move by Mayo. But, this seems to be par for the course with him.
He knew exactly what he was getting himself into when he took the job. He took it because he would've had to forfeit his rumored $10M buyout and ended up making a lot less in 2024. This is what he’s probably mad at.
Wilfork says he was set up to fail. If the roster were stacked, Bill would still be the coach. Lol.
Believe or not, just because players played the game, doesn’t mean they know X’s and O’s In fact, many don’t and only know their specific assignment as a player. He never showed this as an assistant to Bill which was a big concern to me.
Mayo was canned for many reasons. His lack of experience and X’s and O’s were glaring. He was babysat by Robin Glazer (who’s also gone) and had a very hard time putting a staff together. The weekly blunders with the media and constantly throwing players under the bus was another. The nail in the coffin was him trying to win a meaningless game which wrecked their draft position.
