Aaron Hernandez Dead

It's easy to throw accusations at dead people, they tend to not be able to answer them.

Journalism today is one of the most disgusting professions. I know whores who have much better morals.

You really have to ask yourself, who do these stories benefit?
He could answer for himself if he didn't murder people then kill himself.
Why would you give a second if Incent about his reputation?

AJ you're not wrong, but I'm thinking of his family in all this.

It's already bad enough they have to deal with their son/brother/cousin, etc being a murderer. Now they have to hear all these rumors now.

AH was a scumbag and might not deserve any sympathy, but his family doesn't deserve to hear all these stories. I'm sure their lives have been effected enough.

Just wished this all literally died out already.

Therefore, we should produce stories about dead people because money trumps everything else.

Well, if the stories sell, sure. This is a Free Market. We are not communist Russia. If people want it, give it too them.

Ita who he is (was). Why would his sexuality be more offensive to his family than the fact he was a serial killer?
im sure they knew.

The real tragedy in this situation is that poor little 4-year-old girl who will not only grow up without a father but she will forever be tied to the sins of her father.

As far as Hernandez himself goes I feel badly for the guy that he was so damaged that it destroyed him and so many people around him. He did awful things and deserves his outcome but I don't think it is anything to be happy about witnessing.

My initial reaction is unchanged: good riddance to this waste of space. I couldn't care less about the details of his sexuality, or about anybody else's for that matter.

Hernandez was doing life in prison without the chance of parole. His only option to ever have sex again in his natural lifetime was to have it with a man. I don't think it is that unusual for a lifer to find a young weak prisoner to make his prison girlfriend.

If you couldn't careless and if you really did mean good riddance I don't think you would be on the internet writing about it in a public forum. Clearly you care in some capacity.

Oh snap

How? There seems to be no case whatsoever, he killed himself.
There's plenty of things to potentially build a case around. They'll probably argue stuff like negligent supervision, negligent medical treatment (i.e. prison psychiatrists should have seen it coming), and so on.

And that's not even counting arguing the state's covering up something (though I doubt they'll go there when all is said and done.)

Give me a break.
The "fiance" willingly removed the large trash bag likely carrying the murder weapon (.45 Glock) and dumped it off property. When I think of "family" in this case, I think of "accomplice"

Precautions always need to be taken to protect the prisoner, and that includes themselves.

Were they checking on him as often as they should have been? Did he show any signs of being depressed or having mental illness in the days prior? Were there illegal drugs introduced into the environment that may have aided in his decision? Did he have access to an extra bed sheet or extra soap/shampoo that was poured on the ground?

They'll want to make sure that every "T" was crossed, and every "I" dotted, and even then, they may still choose to sue in hopes of an outside settlement. Not saying that it's right, but it happens every single day, especially when you have a shark like Baez as the attorney in charge.

Just because you can make up reasons doesn't mean you can have a lawsuit move forward.

There has to be legitimate reasons to file a lawsuit not just making up what ifs.
I'm not aware of any actual lawsuits where someone was found negligent of not preventing someone from committing suicide.
I'm not sure you could have a case beard based upon the negligence being allowing a grown man to have too much shampoo or a bed sheet.

The prison's main responsibility is to protect the prisoner(s), and obviously there are plenty of possibilities where they may be at fault. It is supposed to be an environment which makes suicide/homicides close to impossible, or at least very unlikely.

To suggest that there have not been lawsuits filed against the institution/DOC when suicides occur would be terribly incorrect. It happens on a very consistent basis. A fair number of deaths that occur behind prison walls are challenged. The fact that the state of Massachusetts has double the amount of prisoner suicides only helps their case, as does the fact that Baez is this generation's Johnny Cochran.

As the days go by, we'll have a better idea as to what kind of loophole Baez may/may not find.

following this thread for updates... so ... is he still dead?

People who are serving small sentences of 2-3 yrs choose that route, let alone life sentences. Like you said, it's not an uncommon practice.

Regardless of the situation, ignoring the truth and allowing lies to be spread is not the way to go.
