There's still reports, while not nearly as many lately, that Vince Young could still be taken #1 overall by the Texans.

I almost think it's insulting when Casserly will say that taking Vince is still an option. IMO that move is absolutely impossible. Houston would screw themselves with that pick and it's not because Young's not talented enough.

First off, you just paid Carr that option to stay. This isn't like the Brees-Rivers saga. San Diego let Brees go but it won't cost them any cap space. If Young turned out good, you'd take a huge cap hit with Carr and this team has too many talented players to go into rebuilding like the 49ers or Titans because of cap problems.

Second, some have even compared the situation to the old Houston team, when McNair rode the bench for several years as an Oiler while he learned. A QB selected #1 overall will make what, $20-30 million dollars in his first three or four seasons? Can Houston afford it? I don't think they can.

Third, Reggie Bush is just too good. I was never on the Bush bandwagon. I knew he was a great player but I thought Houston had too many needs that could be filled by trading out of that spot. Before Carr was given the bonus, I thought Vince to Houston made perfect sense. People actually called into Houston sports radio shows saying they would buy tickets and sit through losing seasons to watch Vince Young develop. After Bush's pro day, I am leading the bandwagon and he has to be the pick. That is just freak talent with a head that matches his ability.

Finally, it goes back to my third point, people want to see Vince Young. Houston is Vince's hometown. Fans would be done with David Carr the very second Young was taken. They would boo him for every sack, INT, incomplete pass, everything. It would be the same question every week from the media, "When will Vince start, when will Vince start?" It's just not worth it. I think you would definately cause problems with the team because there would almost certainly be some players that thought Vince should be the starter, especially with his scrambling abilities and a team that has been awful in pass protection for most of its time in the NFL.

whoever takes vince young is a fool..unless they just want to sell jersey to the local gangmembers..ala ron mexico in the atl.....when will they learn decision making(montana,Brady) beats raw athleticism(kordell, vick) anyday

Oh don't go there. I'm not saying he's Brady or Montana but I've watched Vince Young since he was a redshirt freshman. The guy knows how to play football, anyone who thinks all he is a taller Michael Vick is dead wrong. He has improved dramatically in the three years he's played at UT. He had the second highest efficiency rating in all of college football. He completed 75% of his passes in the national championship. He has the highest career completion pct. in UT history, beating out Major Applewhite who was always praised as a smart QB that could manage the game. He completed passes as a junior that he couldn't make as a freshman. Again, he's not just a strong arm with speed.

I guarantee you he will not be another Vick. He's better than that.

I don't think it would be a bad move by the Texans IF they were able to trade Carr. Alot of people are down on Young but I think he's going to be just fine. No, I don't think he's going to take the Texans to a Super Bowl but either will Bush. If you ask me, Bush has the best chance of being an absolute bust in the NFL. There aren't many RBs in the NFL that have been able to succeed as an every down back at that size. The other reason Young would be a good pick is because he's a hometown boy. He will put people in the seats.

I went there girlfriend hes braindead...a buffoon a maroon...that said maybe he could be a good athletic tight-end...but hes too dumb to make good decisions at the next level...actually I doubt he could spell decisions...that being said I mean no disrespect I like the guy

Do you really think that college defenses are so vanilla that it takes no mental skill whatsoever to have a good passing game? I don't care how bad you think USC's defense might have been, you simply don't complete 75% of your passes without being able to read defenses. He made audibles all the time based on the defense and would then throw a strike for a big gain. I watched every game he played last year. Is he another Peyton Manning or Tom Brady? No. Is he the next Vick? Absolutely not.

As it is, people are going WAYYYYYYYYYY overboard with his Wonderlic scores. It has absolutely nothing to do with football. We all went to high school with those guys, the ones that understood a sport like they invented it but just didn't get it in the classroom.

My boss told me about a guy he graduated with many years ago. Would have gotten major college offers if he had been able to get his grades up. He just lit up the competition as QB. He knew every play, he knew what everyone was supposed to do, he knew what defenses were throwing at him, he just understood football like it was nothing. Their coach also had to teach and he told me how the whole team had to run the day the guy failed an open book test.

Dear sweet Uncle Bob's Pipe... where to start?

Kay, first you're calling him braindead. Then in the same sentence suggest he could be a good Tight End?!?! Are you one of those dumb people that are so dumb they don't realize they're dumb, or are you just dumb enough not to realize when you've said something dumb? Or did you shout out Vive Cuervo one too many times at the bar tonight?

"....that being said I mean no disrespect I like the guy".

Well, at least you didn't call his momma a whore.

Bastage. Beer, from nose, all over the widescreen.

Houston isn't even going after Bush. They're trying to negotiate a contract with Mario Williams....I don't see why as they can probably get Tambi Hali with their second rounder, I think they should trade down and take Winston Justice, while picking up some picks.
