2nd in this draft should = 1st in next, right?

In comparing contracts - Culpeppers / Walker... They were both 2nd round picks in the draft that was coming up before the season. A draft where many teams trade one round this year for a higher round next year.

Since this is still before the season but after the draft, wouldn't a second now be worth a 3rd next year?

Which would mean a 1st now would be worth a 2nd next year?

Sounds to me like the comparisons that are being made for comparitable trades don't match, not even close...
 
You have the right idea sort off but backwards...
a 3rd this years draft = a 2nd next year
a 2nd this years draft = a 1st next year

Well, he still has the premise right though. If we're forced to accept a second in the 2007 draft, then we basically gave him up for a 2006 3rd. Which is bogus. I wish Branch would get his head out of his trunk.
