From the Reiss interview it sounds like Vrabel is showing more constructive criticism this year than last. He may feel that this years team is going to get some tough love

IF Doubs learns our Offense we're going be a Tough out. I really like his size.

I think the original vision for Doubs was to be playing inside more, but that was wasn't working.....his practice reports started improving once they started changing the routes we was running.

I know A.J. Plays mostly on the outsides now: but he was a Slot @ Ole Miss many moons ago.

Love hearing we're getting a new punter! I don't understand the unconditional love of Baringer. He's never been more than an average punter, and has fell to being a very poor punter on many occasions. I don't think we can do much worse.

On if there were players that stepped up on Saturday:

“I think in the second half, I think there certainly were. I think, some guys that the coaches pointed out, I think Kindle [Vildor] obviously, some very competitive snaps. [Dametrious] Crownover, I thought, played well and tried to finish and tried to use his length in pass protection. I thought Lenny T [Leonard Taylor] played well and factored and showed up. I think offensively, even just down the line, I thought Chiz [Efton Chism] did a great job of, when the ball found him, making the plays, but also his ability to go and block force and finish. And, Kyle Dixon hadn’t been out there for a while. And so, a guy that’s relatively new to the receiver position, that was really cool to see him show up in some big moments. We’re throwing the ball to Kyle Dixon. He was a baseball player not too long ago on fourth down and he’s making a play. And then he was trying to block, finding the right guys to block in a run game. So, those are all really, really interesting things.”

It’s not just about positions, it’s about players.
It would be great to have a perfectly balanced roster, but that’s not usually realistic.
You don’t cut a promising WR just to keep X number of players at a different position if the upside isn’t there.

Boutte is one of their guys.
Or they are protecting him from injury as they explore trade options.
