Patriots Player Departure 2026 Patriots Roster Cuts Thread

Agreed, but when the Cleveland Browns walk over your depth, it is a little concerning.
Led by a QB they sent to IR days later for a back injury suffered earlier in camp.

Prunty, Crownover, Hutchins, Obiazor, and Morton all made it.

Maybe our late draft wasn’t as bad as we thought?
I'm shocked at Hutchins and Obiazor making it, honestly. They didn't show anything of note IMHO.

Did you watch his last game against Third Stringers??
Did you actually watch? Or were you just knocking them back like you usually do and then pontificating to show everyone you don't have a clue.

I count Five cuttable guys at the moment...guys who would still clear waivers.

So looks like this then i believe. (I hate the way they put everyone as either a DL or an LB. Edge makes more sense.)

QB (3) Drake Maye, Tommy DeVito, Behren Morton
RB (3) Rhamondre Stevenson, TreVeyon Henderson, Corey Kiner
FB (1) Reggie Gilliam
TE (3) Hunter Henry, Eli Raridon, Tanner Arkin
WR (6) A.J. Brown, Romeo Doubs, DeMario Douglas, Mack Hollins, Kyle Williams, Efton Chism III
C (2) Jared Wilson, Ben Brown
G (3) Mike Onwenu, Alijah Vera-Tucker, Greg Van Roten
T (5) Will Campbell, Morgan Moses, Caleb Lomu, Walter Rouse, Dametrious Crownover
ED (5) Dre’Mont Jones, Elijah Ponder, Gabe Jacas, Quintayvious Hutchins, Khalil Jacobs
DT (5) Christian Barmore, Milton Williams, Cory Durden, Joshua Farmer, Leonard Taylor III
ILB (4) Robert Spillane, Christian Elliss, K.J. Britt, Namdi Obiazor
CB (6) Christian Gonzalez, Carlton Davis, Marcus Jones, Karon Prunty, Channing Canada, Charles Woods
SS (2) Craig Woodson, Dell Pettus
FS (2) Kevin Byard, Jaylen Reed
ST (3) Andy Borregales, Julian Ashby, Bryce Baringer

PUP: Landry
NFI: Schooler
IR-DTR: Bryant

I think this looks cleaner. I imagine when these 3 come back.. Hutchins, Crowner and Canada goes to the PS (or Woods is cut).

I think it is clear the Pats wouldn't trade for a player then not expect him to make the game day roster. They must think Rouse is instantly OT 3 or 4. Reed will play... probably in box on certain snaps and dress over Canada or Woods.

Who I would expect to sit? Crownover, B. Brown, Chism, Hutchins, (Taylor or Farmer), (Canada or Woods). I would expect Canada over Woods if they like his STs more. I would expect Farmer/Taylor to be match up specific.

It is very possible still they pick up an Edge and send Jacobs to the PS. I don't think Jacobs or Hutchins deserves to be a game day active. Probably not even Jacas yet TBH... but maybe set him up for success by giving him pass rushing only situations.
I agree with regard to Jacobs and Hutchins. However, I think of Jacobs as an ILB. I think that even could be ahead of bot Ster Brit and STer Obuazor.

When I look at our EDGE rushers, I see Jones & Ponder and Ponder & Jones plus others who shouldn't be on the field at that position.

Hate to see Larison cut, but OL has to be a priority. They still need to keep building, but they are much better than they were going into last season. Defensive front 7 is going to be a priority next offseason.

Bobby O is in Carolina…Milano is good, but injury prone…the others should get a look.

Not Bosa. Floyd can be good but injury prone. KVN at least might be able to set the edge.

Give me Prunty and Crownover the rest would clear waivers.

The biggest open issue is the 5 injured players
Landry (PUP?)
Schooler (NFI?)
Bryant (looks like IR-DTR
Brown (I expect him to be on the 53. If he needs to go on IR, the decision can wait a week.
Barringer (perhaps IR-DTR)

If these 4 are not counted, we will room for 4 players; that is, 4 fewer cuts..
Why not IR-DTR today? What is the benefit of waiting?

KVN is cooked. Not sure about Bosa, he’s pretty long in the tooth too.

Game 1 is 10 days away. In 9 days, the team might be better able to estimate when Brown will likely return. It's the same 4 games. It doesn't hurt to wait.
