2026 Draft: Tight Ends

I might have a new name for us.

Terrance Carter Jr, Texas Tech, 6-2, 245

Looking through James Foster's big board I saw a name I hadn't seen before. He has Terrance Carter as his no 2 TE, ranked at 46 overall. With a bit more digging I found this chart which ranks all the draft eligible TEs by career yards/route run and EPA. Carter is 3rd on career y/rr.

Checking PFF, Carter is the 3rd highest graded draftable* TE in run blocking behind Lawson Luckie and Jack Endries, the 2nd highest draftable TE in pass blocking behind Josh Cuevas of Alabama and the 6th highest graded receiver although it's very close for third between Kanak, Stowers, Koziol and himself.

He and Michael Trigg are the best graded all-round TEs in CFB right now.

* I use the PFF big board to determine what counts as draftable.

Carter's 2025 highlights.

Scouting Report: Strengths

  • Natural hands catcher who plucks the ball cleanly away from his body and secures contested catches in traffic.
  • Outstanding yards-after-catch ability, using vision and cutting skills to turn short completions into explosive gains consistently.
  • Reliable target in crucial situations, demonstrating clutch gene with multiple 100-yard receiving performances against quality opponents.
  • Impressive catch radius allows him to haul in passes outside his frame and make quarterback-friendly adjustments mid-route.
  • Smart route runner who finds soft spots in zone coverage and sits down in windows against man coverage.
  • Deceptive speed for the position, capable of stretching the seam and creating vertical mismatches against slower defenders.
  • Competitive edge shows through his willingness to work over the middle and absorb contact while maintaining possession.
  • Exceptional route precision for his size, running crisp patterns that create consistent separation against linebackers and safeties.

Marlin Klein is the Outlier on the other end.

So what's up? Is he "looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane", or is Michigan just not utilizing him well?

Figured that would be the likely response.

Lawson Luckie with 3 TDs today. Georgia finally using there TEs.

I forgot to say last night that although Eli Raridon didn't have a big game as a receiver against USC, he was very good as a run blocker inline. I was focusing on him quite a lot. He's an excellent option as an Austin Hooper replacement and good enough in the pass game to be the long-term Henry replacement. I think it's between him and Oscar Delp to be my favourite non-Sadiq TE option.

Good find @BobDigital .

Thank you, but given the noise he was making you would have noticed him eventually. It is still early and frankly i am way behind compared to you and Mayo.

I would be very content with either anytime day 3.
