2026 Draft: Quarterbacks

Todd McShay reporting that Dante Moore will return to Oregon next year.

Matt Miller is reporting that Miami (Fl) are going all in on a QB transfer. The obvious one to me would be LaNorris Sellers. If so, and they can significantly improve him, 2027s QB class could be pretty exceptional.

Moore
Manning
Sellers
Sayin
Maiava
Sorsby
Mateer
Josh Hoover

And that's just off the top of my head potentially.

If the Pats believe bringing in a day 3/UDFA QB this offseason is advisable, who would you want?

1. Haynes King, Georgia Tech - Runs like Drake Maye and isn't a slouch as a passer. Probably needs a Josh McDaniels special scheme if he needs to be used for an extensive period (see Cam Newton). He's great though for a probable UDFA.

2. Darian Mensah, Duke - He probably goes too early for us but if he does somehow fall, there's lots of upside there.

3. Drew Allar, Penn State - Credit to @mayoclinic on this one. He's not had a good year and he's out for the season but those are all reasons he might fall. There's a good QB there potentially, he just needs to be unlocked. Arm strength, size, athleticism. Big potential upside and if he can be got with a late day 3 pick, very little risk.

How do you feel about Joe ***nano (25 TDs, 0 picks, just beat Mensah)?

Sorry but I've done very little work on QBs and haven't heard of him. Just done a quick check on him. Excellent grades, but he's in his 7th year in CFB. He's certainly having a good year though.

What do you know about the Connecticut QB, Joe ***nano?

Garrett Nussmeier benched against Alabama.

Why not. Unless he goes earlier than I expect.
Why not indeed. Grade A character, production. The one knock on him is fumbles which is something he needs to solve. He had 5 fumbles in his first three games this year although only one since. Still, it's a bad record.

Plenty of time to correct that.

To replace Dobbs or as QB3? The former feels like an "if it ain't broke" situation, and the latter heading towards a "who would take that job if they had other options?" issue.
Replace Dobbs. I guess most teams are porked if the QB goes down. But Minshew etc can keep a team afloat. They aren't terrible.

As an IU grad, I am riding high these days and have Mendosa mania!

Has the size (6'5"), footwork, accuracy (75%), ability to fire through tight windows, touch, play-action passing, ability to throw on the run, decent mobility, high IQ, high character, and arm strength to go top 3 for sure.

There was a comment about relatively few deep balls, and that's true, likely because IU has a O line of road grader run blockers who are less adept at pass protection, so they get it out fast. That might be the team's main weakness, facing teams with awesome pass rushes., though Oregon qualifies, and they handled it (at Oregon, no less). He shows the arm strength on quick outs to the strong side sideline, a throw most college QBs won't try, and especially in play action he has shown the deep ball touch more often in recent games, with some drop-it-in-the-bucket long strikes with touch and as accurate as a handoff.
