I'll retweet that.

Diggs, Hollins, Williams, Pop, are making the team. Of the guys left, Boutte, Polk, Baker and Bourne, it'll come down to cap # and camp. IMO anyway.
Hollins I do like. But not so sure he beats out Boutte if it came down to it. A 31 year old journeyman WR or a 22 year old WR who is i in sync with Drake and is ascending and who's been with the organization. I think people sleep on Boutte.. the guy can ball.

Hot take, Polk and Baker won’t be on the roster week 1
Baker won't be, but I don't see how they can cut a 2nd rounder like that. Josh will try to save him. The problem was not talent. It was bad coaching and then mental frustration. Chris Carter was in similar places their rookie year and became a HOFer. So it is possible.

Hollins is a lock.

Taking team building into account, I get the sense Vrabel puts a high value on veteran experience and leadership. Don’t think he’ll want the WR room to be too young collectively. So that could bode well for a bubble player like Bourne. Really just depends on if they see enough value in him to retain him.

Stefon Diggs: Safest bet to make the team for reasons that should be obvious.

DeMario Douglas: Most productive WR the last two seasons combined, should be the favorite for the slot receiver role.

Mack Hollins: His receiving numbers are underwhelming but he brings size, toughness and blocking ability the rest of the room lacks.

Kendrick Bourne: For him to make the team he’s going to need to have a top 4 role to justify the cap hit. Has proven value under McDaniels similar to Hollins and a great locker room guy. He’ll be two years removed from ACL surgery and hopefully can return to early 2023 form. If not he’ll be let go.

Kayshon Boutte: Made a big jump in his second year, though still inconsistent as a performer. Certainly flashed some potential. He’s an ideal fit in a backup role who has some experience starting if needed.

Kyle Williams: Will probably be brought along slowly unless he forces the issue with an impressive training camp and preseason. There’s always exceptions but 3rd round WRs typically don’t play extensively early on.

Ja’Lynn Polk: Can see him as a candidate to be put on PUP to begin the season while coming off of shoulder surgery. Short of that, I think they’ll want to give him at least another year under more organized leadership to see if he can salvage some value.

Javon Baker: Showed absolutely nothing last year and was a Day 3 flier. Would take a miraculous turnaround for him along with disaster on the depth chart ahead of him to make the team. His only realistic path of being a Patriot this season is on the practice squad, and I’d be willing to bet another team takes a flier on him before that happens.

That was the best game of his career at 29 yo. He'll be 32 before the season starts. I'm optimistic.
Either way; he’s a JAG with a defined role.

I think Hollins is here because MacDaniels believes he can play a significant role as a reliable veteran receiver. If Diggs is ready to start the season I would expect Diggs and Hollins outside and Douglas in the slot. Williams should sub in for both Diggs and Hollins situationally, and eventually take Hollins starting job. Polk, Baker, Bourne and Boutte are fighting for one or two spots, and given their lack of special teams contributions I’m more likely to think it will be one spot.

X - Williams, Diggs, Hollins
Z - Diggs, Bourne, Boutte, Williams
Slot - Pop, Chism

I don’t see how Polk or Baker fit in. Bourne may be a cut candidate. I think Chism may sneak onto the roster.
Just an FYI, I was listening to Phil Perry and he said that Hoyer explained to him that in McDs offense the player in the slot is referred to as the Z and where the Z normally lines up outside off the LOS is the Flanker. I just found it interesting and wanted to share, but for conversation purposes lets keep refering to it the way everyone else does it (X, Z and slot)

Well.. considering N'Keal Harry, Thornton and slow Joe Williams last 3 seasons as bust. I like polks chances. He's at the facility rehabbing and in the offseason program. So the coaching staff knows where he's at. It's just saying as an assumption if he's not fully healthy then he will be IR bound. Players can still be in camp and rehabbing like KB did last season.
Is Polk running in the sand at the beach?

I really think that
Diggs
Hollins
Pop
Williams
Booty
Polk

They are going to try and push Baker and Chism onto the PS. They keep 6 because on the 53 because I do not think they trade Booty and Polk has talent. Diggs and Hollins are their 30's and who knows how long they play, I think Hollins is a 1 year guy and Diggs 2 years.

Hollins shouldn't have even been signed. Bourne's 9 lives are up. Should've never been brought back last year after calling the Pats organization dysfunctional under Bill publicly only to return.
maybe being right about that got him some slack.

Cris Carter's issue wasn't football related. He was heavily abusing drugs and alcohol, leading Buddy Ryan to cut him prior to the 1990 season.

Agreed.. Polk has time. Vrabel's already mentioned everyone has a clean slate. As long as polk is putting in the work wich he reportedly has. He will be fine. Glad to see Boutte in your list as he was the playmaker last season. Now imagine with adding henderson, diggs, and Williams to the roster Boutte will be open all day. Feels good to finally have some guys for defenses to prepare for.

I think we keep 7 of them and of those 7 one of them is hurt. Borne is the most likely to be traded.
My guess is the Cowboys. I think though they have to keep him around till camp. as he is the only one with significant experience in josh's offense. The only chance on him playing in Sept is predicated on that exp.

we keep hearing about culture changers, and thats Diggs and Hollins.
I believe they are locks if Diggs is ready game 1.
WIlliams due to draft pedigree will make the team
I believe Pop will as well.
team keeps 1 or 2 between Boutte, Bourne, Polk, Baker?
