2025 Red Sox Thread

I was reading this earlier today.. Hes Jon Lester 2.0

He looks amazing so far. Crochet, Bello, and Tolle, plus another half dozen in the system. Hard not to be excited. Need a big right handed bat.

My man, I've thoroughly enjoyed my life and most especially who I've shared the journey with and I still do. If I've given you any reason to think otherwise I obviously chose my words poorly. Overall for me It's been a hella ride that enjoyably continues, albeit at a somewhat more leisurely pace. I may not get to the Bank of Bad Habits as often as I used to but my balance is substantial and transactions are still getting made.

The French have spent over 500 years prefecting the chardonnay grape. Chardonnay wine, champagne, and cognac all from the same grape. Tonight I am drinking A de Fusssigny XO cognac. Try some. Live life to the fullest.

Still dealing. Yeah, this guy is the real deal. I have seen enough, and yeah it's the Pirates lineup, but if he is this good right now, what's his true ceiling? Especially with a lefty like Crochet who can mentor him for years to come.

Anthony, takes Skenes deep. Holy ****.

Let me know when he has 200 career wins.
A rookie pitching his debut and you can not enjoy that. "Let me know when he has 200 career wins". Not sure what to say, it is like you never had a kid and got excited about their debut. Oh well, be a Felger and Mazz curmudgeon, you fit well in New England.

He was electric and will only get better. I was floored watching him to go to toe against Skenes.

Kid was awesome tonight. Bright future but damn he's gonna help us in the playoffs.
If he continues to.pitch like this- then Boston has the best big 3 starters in MLB. Period. Crochet is right there with Skubal and Skenes as #1.
Bello has become a consistent stud and would be the #1 ace on more than half of all the teams in mlb. He's ranked #15 right now and there's only 29 other teams. Giolito is solid. Chapman best closer in the game. Whitlock one of the best setup guys in the game. Slaten just came back after months of rehab. He's got a month to get in complete tune. When he's ready Sox have one if the best if not the best top 3 bullpen groups in mlb.
They also have one if the best offenses in mlb. This team RIGHT NOW is a legit WS contender.

I compared him to Jon Lester who has 200 career wins. Hes promising, but has a long way to go to have that kind of a career.

You post is misguided and assumptive.

Cora lost them this game. Could have been 2.5 back of Toronto. But nope, the brain dead manager stops them again. They won in '18 in spite of him I always felt. Might be the reason the falter this season.

They lost because Bregman, Story, and Duran went 1-12 w 5 strikeouts.

Cora isn't perfect but you make it sound like he's the worst mgr in baseball when he is one of the best.

He has real issues with bullpen usage. Always been a major problem for him.

Completely off base
Not at all. Weissert should never have been in the game in that situation. Tolle needed to by pulled with that pitch count, but that was the wrong move. Then putting Hicks in who is at best a mop up guy was criminal as well.

Nah, it's been his mo for almost a decade now. Bites him more often than not.

Micro-level criticism. 2nd guessing managers based on projected results is as old as the game itself.

"This guy should have gone in"

C'mon...

I knew it the second he put him in the game. And boom. It happened. He needs to be put into a an inning with no traffic.
