2025 Red Sox Thread

Sure it will. Let's see what they end up doing. Remember this GM brought you Crochet, Chapman, Narvaez, Bregman etc. I think thats a pretty good track record and a commitment to winning, would it not be?

It was a half-assed commitment.

Not to mention, there's a huge difference between 35 year old Harden playing basketball who would essentially be a "let's hope this old guy has some gas to make a difference" and 28 year old Devers who was supposed to be our big bat for the next era of the Red Sox.

If this team proved anything, it's that they they are trigger happy at finding ways to cheap out.

What's worst of all, is that Henry has been, is doing so now, and will continue to use revenues provided by the Red Sox to help fund his Other projects. This team will never see the savings from the Devers give-away: more likely than not, he will use this windfall to buy another soccer player...

2018 should have been the start of an amazing run. It turned into a last hurrah and it's because Henry let things sour with guys who should have been priorities.

I'm glad Devers is gone.
He's a boy, not a man.
Thank you for your production but grow the F up, **** head

Duran pre game yesterday. That team, didn't give one **** about Devers. They are glad he is gone.

When a guy doesn't give a damn about the team it's not surprising the rest of the team doesn't give a damn about him.

I know i'm sounding like a MMQB but I never liked that they signed him to the big-money, long-term extension. The Mookie situation still pisses me off.

He was never a leader in the clubhouse. He never invested his time into Boston or made a legitimate effort to be the face of the franchise. Quite frankly, I think not learning the language like Pedro and Ortiz did was his way of not positioning himself as the face of the team. I don't think he took care of himself physically as much as he should have. He wasn't a grinder at improving his game (see defense and base running). In essence, he didn't invest in Boston or himself.

While the Red Sox certainly assume some fault for the handling of and letting the relationship with their highest paid star destruct, he also deserves some blame here.

They'll miss his bat but not much else.

Again, though the grapevine Mookie and the Sox had a couple of issues. One, he was ambivalent about staying in Boston. Never really felt truly connected with the city etc etc. He wasn't Ortiz. Secondly the Red Sox rightfully had concerns over his body type as he ages and his penchant for his inability to hit good pitching in the playoffs. Thirdly, Mrs. Betts wasn't a fan of Boston, and was/is more of a Miami/SoCal kinda girl.

That had a lot to do with the Red Sox not paying him. IF there is anyone that left the Red Sox that should piss people off it was Lester. I will never forgive them for doing that he should have retired a Red Sox.

Mookie is a red herring. Much like people are slowly realizing the turd that Devers was, more people need to understand the details of the Mookie trade.

I believe the money would have made Mookie more comfortable. They lowballed him. The city loved him and he knew it.

The way they handled Lester was unforgivable.

Completely different ownership but the Lester trade reminded me of Hurst's departure. Both were absolute failures of management and ownership with quality guys that wanted to stay here until they were just pissed on so much it became impossible.

Yea they freaking lowballed him. Cheap-ass Jean Yawkey.
