Here is a roster projection by BobDigital, from the Day 10 - August 4 Training Camp Thread

The more I think about it the more I don't like a 53 roster projection, cause in reality what it is a 51 roster + 2 guys you like. Those last 2-3 aren't there so much for true depth, they are just guys you don't want to see on the waiver wire.
QB (2) Drake Maye, Joshua Dobbs
RB (4) Rhamondre Stevenson, Antonio Gibson, TreVeyon Henderson, Lan Larison
TE (2) Hunter Henry, Austin Hooper
WR (5) Stefon Diggs, Demario Douglas, Mack Hollins, Kyle Williams, Kendrick Bourne
C (2) Garrett Bradbury, Ben Brown
G (3) Mike Onwenu, Jared Wilson, Cole Strange
T (4) Will Campbell, Morgan Moses, Marcus Bryant, Caedan Wallace
DE (2) Keion White, Milton Williams
DT (4) Christian Barmore, Jeremiah Pharms Jr., Khyiris Tonga, Joshua Farmer
ILB (4) Robert Spillane, Christian Elliss, Jahlani Tavai, Jack Gibbens
OLB (4) Harold Landry, K’Lavon Chaisson, Bradyn Swinson, Anfernee Jennings
CB (5) Christian Gonzalez, Carlton Davis, Alex Austin, Marcus Jones, D.J. James
SS (2) Kyle Dugger, Jaylinn Hawkins
FS (2) Jabrill Peppers, Craig Woodson
ST (4) Bryce Baringer, Julian Ashby, Brenden Schooler, Andres Borregales
Total Players: 49
Right now after what I've read this looks like the roster more or less. I think Strange is still mostly safe. Even though Bryant seems to own the back up LT spot i still think Wallace is solid. I've seen many projections with Larison being cut. But considering how much injuries happen at RB I don't think they carry only 3. And Larison has showed well. I know typically you want 3 TEs and Scott seems to be doing okay, but do we HAVE to carry him? I don't see him not making it through waivers... and if he doesn't... I kind of shrug and say so what? At WR these are the 5 at least early and Bourne is gone.
DJ James has made himself a near impossible cut at the all important CB position, can never have enough young depth there. On DL i think they are happy with these 6 (though there is cross over with OLB obviously. To this point Ponder and Truman though interesting have not shown enough to warrant being kept for sure. Tavai has to be considered safe at this point. He is the kind of guy Vrabel would already cut if he didn't plan on keeping him. And while he isn't built for the standard version of this D there will be looks where they will want to change it where he'll make more sense. At OLB those 4 seem obvious and no one else looks like a keeper. At CB while other guys are on the bubble would anyone lose sleep if Dial got sniped away? Not me. Safety just seems very solid with these 4. No one is making a case to unsettle those spots at all or give a roster push.
So who does those last 4 spots go to? One will be a DB who plays STs... Maybe Dial. At least 1-2 WRs. Polk and/or Chism. Baker will easy fall through waivers. Last spot? Is there really an OL or TE better than what can be had on waivers that far down out depth chart? If not protect your most promising player left... maybe Truman Jones?

Mark Daniels with an August 4 roster projection.

Biggest thing that jumped out to me was only three RBs (though noting that "Larison has a chance to make this roster with a strong preseason") and seven WRs (admitting that is "too many"); Daniels also has Gee Scott Jr as the 3rd TE.

Wide receivers (7) DeMario Douglas, Stefon Diggs, Mack Hollins, Kayshon Boutte, Kyle Williams, Ja’Lynn Polk, Javon Baker
Cut: Kendrick Bourne, Efton Chism III, John Jiles, Isaiah Webb
The Patriots have too many receivers on this 90-man roster. They might only keep six. In this exercise, Polk and Baker make it due to their potential. Bourne is a great locker room presence and a tough cut, but he’s been mostly working with the second team this summer.

Offensive line (10) Will Campbell, Jared Wilson, Garrett Bradbury, Michael Onwenu, Morgan Moses, Demontray Jacobs, Caedan Wallace, Cole Strange, Ben Brown, Marcus Bryant
Cut: Layden Robinson, Sidy Sow, Alec Lindstrom, Tyrese Robinson, Mekhi Butler, Jack Conley / Vederian Lowe (PUP)
Bryant has been the Patriots top backup left tackle this summer. Wilson looks like the team’s starting left guard. Strange started camp as the starting left guard and is now fighting for a roster spot.

Defensive tackles (5) Milton Williams, Christian Barmore, Khyiris Tonga, Jeremiah Pharms, Joshua Farmer
Cut: Jacquelin Roy, Jahvaree Ritzie, David Olajiga, Isaiah Iton
The Patriots have great depth here. Williams and Barmore could be one of the best defensive tackle pairs in the NFL. Roy showed potential last year, but he needs a strong preseason to make it.

Linebackers (4) Robert Spillane, Christian Elliss, Jack Gibbens, Jahlani Tavai
Cut: Marte Mapu, Monty Rice, Cam Riley, R.J. Moten
Patriots want faster, lighter linebackers now. Does Tavai fit into Vrabel’s defense? That remains to be seen. He’s also been hurt, so it’s tough to evaluate. Can Mapu make this team? We have him as one of the final cuts.

Cornerbacks (6) Christian Gonzalez, Carlton Davis, Alex Austin, D.J. James, Marcus Jones, Marcellus Dial
Cut: Isaiah Bolden, Kobee Minor, Miles Battle, Jordan Polk, Brandon Crossley
Gonzalez and Davis need to get healthy. They have the potential to be a dangerous duo in the secondary. James is one of the most improved players this offseason. Dial is on the bubble but makes it as a backup slot cornerback.

Safeties (5) Kyle Dugger, Jabrill Peppers, Jaylinn Hawkins, Craig Woodson, Brenden Schooler
Cut: Dell Pettus, Marcus Epps, Josh Minkins
The Patriots have great depth here. It’ll be fascinating to see how it all shakes out. Pettus is one of the final cuts in this exercise. He could certainly make the team. Epps also has a lot of experience and could make the roster.

He also selected John Parker Romo over Andres Borregales in the kicker spot... i really figured Borregales was a lock considering this is exactly what happened with Ryland... Though, Romo is only a second year player...

From where I sit, the decision on the kicker is currently a coin flip.
Romo has performed slightly better (but not enough to make it clear cut), whereas they saw enough in Borregales to draft him.
It will all come down to how the two of them do in the three preseason games.

I'm expecting plenty of updated roster projections after the first exhibition preseason game on Friday night.

Guaranteed to change between now and August 26.
Cole Strange, Efton Chism barely survive for the moment.
No idea on the third tight end at this point in time.

FWIW, Steve Morse lists six veterans that may be on the roster bubble.

Jahlani Tavai
Keion White
Marte Mapu
Rhamondre Stevenson
Kendrick Bourne
Austin Hooper

White's a lock, but the others are still in play to be moved...

Steve Balestrieri with an August 3rd, pre-preseason roster projection.
Below are his comments on some of the roster battles.

WR (6): Stefon Diggs, Mack Hollins, DeMario “Pop” Douglas, Kyle Williams, Kayshon Boutte, Javon Baker
Out: Kendrick Bourne, Ja’Lynn Polk, Efton Chism III, John Jiles, Jeremiah Webb
This is a crapshoot after #5.
TE (2): Hunter Henry, Austin Hooper,
OUT: Jack Westover, Jaheim Bell, C.J. Dippre, Gee Scott Jr, Tyler Davis, Cole Fotheringham
Right now, Westover has the edge through the first week plus. But Bell has been working with the ST’s, so he can’t be discounted. Scott has had a few moments. Right now, I’m sticking with just Henry and Hooper until someone steps up, and they’ll be forced to make cuts elsewhere.
OL (9): Will Campbell, Garrett Bradbury, Mike Onwenu, Morgan Moses, Jared Wilson, Caedan Wallace, Demontrey Jacobs, Marcus Bryant, Ben Brown
Out: Cole Strange (G), Jack Conley (G), Yasir Durant (T-IR), Vederian Lowe (OT), Layden Robinson (G), Tyrese Robinson (T)
Cole Strange has lost his LG position to Wilson. When Bradbury came up limping, they brought in Brown and not Strange as the backup. Could Strange still make the roster as a backup guard/center? Sure thing. And maybe we’re reading too much of this—another position defined by the preseason.
DL (5): Milton Williams, Christian Barmore, Khyiris Tonga, Joshua Farmer, Jeremiah Pharms Jr.
Out: Isaiah Iton, Jahvaree Ritzie, Jaquelin Roy, David Olajida
The defensive line is solid, on this projection, Farmer just beats out Roy. But I wouldn’t close the door on him yet; he plays like a guy Vrabel wants on the team.
LB (4): Robert Spillane, Jahlani Tavai, Christian Elliss, Jack Gibbens
Out: Marte Mapu, Monty Rice, Cam Riley
It would have been nice to keep Mapu, but again, he’s a victim of the numbers game.
CB (6): Christian Gonzalez, Carlton Davis III, Marcus Jones, Alex Austin, Marcellas Dial, D.J. James
Out: Miles Battle, Isaiah Bolden, Brandon Crossley, Kobee Minor, Jordan Polk
The Patriots have pretty good depth at cornerback. James has been among the biggest positive surprises in camp. Thus far, he’s taken advantage of extra reps . . .
Specialists (4): Julian Ashby (LS), Bryce Baringer (P), Andy Borregales (K), Brendan School (Gunner)
Out: John Parker Romo
Romo has been very good thus far in training camp, but I’m sticking with the draft pick, Borregales. But Romo isn’t going anywhere; he’ll be on the practice squad.

Disagree with a whole bunch of names here.

Another August 4 roster projection, with explanations; this one from Patriots Wire/USA Today:

WR (6) In: Stefon Diggs, Mack Hollins, DeMario Douglas, Kyle Williams, Kayshon Boutte, Ja'Lynn Polk
Out: Kendrick Bourne, Efton Chism, Javon Baker, DeMeer Blankumsee, John Jiles, Jeremiah Webb
Kendrick Bourne is hard to leave off the roster, but he has mainly been practicing with the second team. Javon Baker is another one, but he hasn't done enough. Efton Chism was once viewed as a high possibility to make the roster, but he has fallen off somewhat during training camp compared to his performance in the spring.
TE (3) In: Hunter Henry, Austin Hooper, Jack Westover
Out: Jaheim Bell, CJ Dippre, Gee Scott Jr.
So far, Jack Westover has had the best performance in camp. . .
OL (9) In: Will Campbell, Cole Strange, Garrett Bradbury, Mike Onwenu, Morgan Moses, Jared Wilson, Demontrey Jacobs, Caedan Wallace, Ben Brown
Out: Vederian Lowe, Sidy Sow, Jack Conley, Layden Robinson, Yasir Durant, Mehki Butler, Tyrese Robinson, Marcus Bryant
Caedan Wallace has made the transition from tackle to guard this offseason and has earned praise from Vrabel. Cole Strange provides depth at the guard and center position. Bradbury departed practice early one day, and Ben Brown immediately replaced him with the top unit, showing how the coaching staff views him.
Edge (6) In: Harold Landry, Keion White, K'Lavon Chaisson, Anfernee Jennings, Bradyn Swinson, Truman Jones
Out: Elijah Ponder
Anfernee Jennings was on the bubble due to the new system, but he has had a very good camp. Truman Jones was another one who was on the outside looking in, but he was named an offseason award winner, proving that the coaching staff likes what they are seeing.
LB (4) In: Robert Spillane, Jack Gibbens, s' two interceptions during the in-stadium scrimmage, it seems hard for him to get in. The Patriots drafted Craig Woodson, so that's someone they want to develop, and Brenden Schooler is a no-brainer. ….

More idiocy.

Phil Perry's July 31 Roster Projection:

Wide receiver (5): Stefon Diggs, DeMario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte, Kyle Williams, Mack Hollins
For Bourne, because of his experience in Shanahan-style offenses -- and because of the sheer number of those schemes that have spread like wildfire through the league -- it would make sense for the Patriots to try to trade him in the hopes of developing depth at another position where they're thin.
Chism is worthy of consideration here, too, but he's repped consistently with the reserves. Should he explode in preseason, putting good work on tape for the league to see, perhaps he'd force the hands of Patriots decision-makers to give him a job as a developmental piece and keep him away from the waiver wire.
Offensive line (8): Morgan Moses, Mike Onwenu, Garrett Bradbury, Jared Wilson, Will Campbell, Demontrey Jacobs, Ben Brown, Caedan Wallace
The top five here look pretty well set. Bradbury was banged up this week, but that's not expected to be a long-term issue, and when he returns, he looks like the best bet to start at center. Brown was the player who filled in as the top backup in the middle, which helps him land here.
Cole Strange, not included in this projection, feels like the third center. And he feels like the third or fourth guard behind Onwenu, Wilson and (perhaps) Wallace. Wallace's standing as a second-year player -- someone considered worthy of a third-round pick -- is what earns him the nod over Strange as a reserve guard here.
Edge defender (7): Harold Landry, Keion White, K'Lavon Chaisson, Anfernee Jennings, Bradyn Swinson, Elijah Ponder, Truman Jones
Too many names here? Maybe. But all three of Swinson, Ponder and Jones have shown up in different capacities.
Safety (6): Jabrill Peppers, Kyle Dugger, Craig Woodson, Jaylinn Hawkins, Brenden Schooler, Dell Pettus
Marcus Epps may be tough to leave off this list for Vrabel, but it's a relatively deep group. Pettus has real special-teams ability, and he's used at times as the personal protector on the punt team.
Schooler is a kicking-game ace, one of the best in the league in that phase and a potential captain. Hawkins has seen plenty of early reps with the defense and looks like a core special-teamer as well.
Special teams (3): Parker Romo, Bryce Baringer, Julian Ashby
Andy Borregales was taken with a draft pick back in the spring, which makes him the odds-on favorite to win the job. But Romo has been perfect in camp, while Borregales got off to a rocky start.
Borregales has been accurate of late, but he seems to hit a consistent draw, whereas Romo's kicks seem to fly straighter and with a little more velocity.

Better, but still...

ANY projection that includes the Sloppy ****ing Jalopy is an Automatic ****ing FAIL.

53rd player is either Baker - WR Riley - LB or Tavai - LB... Probably Baker or Riley.

(Going from bottom up)

I feel pretty good about this 52... considering their injury potential in the secondary and the lack of a likely worthy return i don't see them trading Dugger this year. Nor do I see a 10th DB worth carrying. Pettus is the 10th due to his STs and that he wouldn't be totally lost out there i think.

I think they for sure keep one of Mapu Tavai if not both. I think Mapu is ahead and can do that tweener role well potentially.

At DT no surprises. Pharms i think is a guy they should carry still.

On Edge they go a bit heavy. I've toyed with the idea of Swinson making the PS... it is possible... but i don't think it is likely. He hasn't shown what we've hoped. But he has had enough flashes to give him a red shirt year. Ponder is coming on well now and i don't want to risk him either. So much potential.

On the OL Jacobs has shown some improvement over last year. Still not someone you want to see in meaningful action... but roster worthy probably. On G... I guess Tyrese is ahead... no one is a good option here... They have some work to do at this spot imo. Brown is the best interior back up option, and that says a lot, mostly bad.

I think right now these 6 are locks at WR. Baker making a good case for a 7th.

Westover plays a bit of everything.. TE. FB and STs.

RB is a spot we need to do some work on when it is WW time. Try to find a good emergency guy.

Dobbs is still the back up... he is known to be very streaky. If he has to play, just hope he is having a good day.

QB (2) Drake Maye, Josh Dobbs (Woolridge emergency QB)
