2025 Draft: WRs

A whole 0.5% of separation.

Not to mention, he also has a 5" height advantage on Golden, which means separation is even less of an issue. Top guys are always covered in the NFL. A bigger receiver gives the QB a bigger passing window.

I'm firmly in the McMillan camp as the top WR, other than Hunter. I think my feelings are usually Patriots slanted. We need a WR1 that can absorb volume. We need an X. We need size in the RZ. All these things favor McMillan over Golden. Or Burden. Or Egbuka. Maybe if we already had a Tee Higgins or a Drake London, I'd buy Golden or other receivers more. They'd fit needs better. But I definitely think McMillan fits needs better now, and his skillet is more that of a WR1.

I'm the same with McMillan. My one doubt is the value of Jayden Higgins at 38. I'm not sure you're losing much getting Higgins over Tet and are certainly gaining athletically. the one issue is that we can't guarantee Higgins will be there at 38.

I am leaning towards WR over LT at 4 though.

I know what you mean.

If we could guarantee Conerly, Simmons, or Ersery in Round 2, I'd be fine with TMac at 4.

Campbell and Higgins isn't a bad fallback. But we can't know for sure that that happens.

I think I still lean Campbell because OL is just more important, and I believe his floor is also that of an excellent player. It won't be a complete bust. But we're seeing just how damn hard it is to get a standout WR. The Patriots have offered quality trade packages and have been willing to overpay and have still struck out. So I wouldn't be upset with them doing what they have to do to get a playmaker at WR in the 1st, either.

"open target" as in, how many times he was open when targetted? Sounds like a stat that requires tons of film nuance.

btw do you have a list ranking or grading your favorite WR prospects? That'd be cool to see if you have it.

I haven't gone into it in that depth but if I was to rank the WRs I particularly like, it would look something like this:

Round 1

Travis Hunter
Tet McMillan (X-receiver potential gives him the boost over Golden)
Matthew Golden

Round 1-2

Jayden Higgins (X-receiver potential gives him the boost over Egbuka and Burden)
Emeka Egbuka
Luther Burden

Round 2

Jack Bech
Tre Harris
Xavier Restrepo

Round 3

Jaylin Noel
Elic Ayomanor
Tory Horton
Jalen Royals

Round 4

Kyle Williams
Pat Bryant
Jaylin Lane

Round 5-7 (Can't really order them but would be interested in these as a late day 3 pick)

(Not in Order)

Dont'e Thornton
Chimere Dike
Efton Chism III
Isaac Teslaa
Ricky White

Anyone not on that list is either someone I've not watched enough, watched and not liked or really don't have an opinion on.

Notice that Will Campbell is also ranked #14. Drafting him at #4 would be a significant reach according to McShay. I believe the best bet is to take Hunter or Carter at 4 if one drops or trade down.
Curious about who you want if we are stuck at 4 work Carter and Hunter gone? No trade down option. The selection you make at this point, might change closer to the draft, but gun to head who you going with?

I would love us to come away with Membou and Trapilo or A Ersery and O Trapilo.

Trade down first. ALWAYS trade down first. Then:
Membou and Anthony Belton with one of our 3rds... Or Banks/Belton or Simmons/Belton or Conerly/Belton..

This is The Way.

The Giants or Browns will pick Sanders. Every year QBs are over drafted. The Pats will not trade down with Hunter sitting there at #4. You are wasting a lot of energy on your trade down scenarios.

Steve Smiths WR big board and evaluation.

1. M. Golden
2. T. McMillan
3. E. Egbuka
4. L. Burden
5. J. Royals
6. T. Harris
7. J. Bech
8. J. Higgins
9. I. Bond
10. E. Ayomanor

Really seems like most lists have a consensus top 4 followed by complete chaos. I've seen Royals, Harris, Higgins ranked at 5. I've seen them all ranked 15 or lower. Chaos.

It seems a priority that they either take Hunter or make a move for one of those 4 guys.

Also depends what you’re looking for. Egbuka and Burden are thought to be slot guys. If a team doesn’t need a slot those guys could slide.
