2025 Draft: WRs

Chris Simms' top 5 WRs. I'm not sure what to make of this. Thrilled he sees what I see in Kyle Williams but no Golden, Egbuka, Burden, Higgins?

What do you think of Torry Horton?? I think he more than looks the part: ran very well too 4.41 unlike some others ie... Ricky White and Pat Bryant both a pedestrian 4.61: donkeys. I think this kid Isaac TeSlaa 6-3 1/2 214 is moving up Ran a 4.43 at that size.
I like Tory Horton, but watching his 2023 tape he ran a ton of sticks and short cross and WR screen. I have no idea if he can actually run real routes.

I put no faith in the 40 (the time means very little to me) I look at MPH at the 10, 20 , 30 and at the end of the 40 and their top speed for the basis of speed. Honestly though that means very little also because during a game the player might get tired to quickly and never realize their max speed. Acceleration is also something I look at on Combine IQ

TeSlaa and CJ west are my biggest binkies. TeSlaa needs to learn how to run routes, at Hillsdale and Arkansas he seemed to mostly run to open spaces and be a better athlete than everyone else. While he is my binky, he is a 7th round/UDFA dart throw right now and I don't know if he will last more than 2-3 years in the league. He might figure it out and turn into a stud but the risk is worth it on day 3.

People don't actually take Chris Simms seriously, do they?

Yeah, he’s real f%#*ing genius when it comes to evaluations. Time and time again.

I like Chris Simms. I say it every year, people single him out to **** on him for whatever reason, but I enjoy his takes.

Say what you say about him, but when you listen to his breakdowns he gives very in depth reasoning behind his ranking, he breaks it down why he feels the way he does about a player, and it's obvious he's actually watched the tape.

I find too many of the draft experts are just regurgitating the consensus and give very vague and shallow analysis which leads me to wonder how much tape they actually watched. You mightn't always agree with Simms, but he's not afraid to give an honest opinion and stray away from the consensus.

Also, you can cherry pick bad takes with hindsight from any draft guru, it's the nature of the beast. But I don't see you pointing to Simms "hot takes" that got ridiculed but that he got right.

Last year he was higher on Nix and Penix than everyone else. He got absolutely ridiculed for having Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr ahead of Harrison Jr. He had Lamar and Josh Allen as 1 & 2 when everyone else was going with Darnold, Baker and Rosen as their top 3. He had Mahomes as his 1 in 2017. He had Zay Flower's as joint 1 with JSN when most didn't have him in top 10.

Just saw Xavier Restrepo's 40 time at his pro day.

Ouch.

Why run it at all if you know you're going to be slow? I mean, that's slow for an Edge, let alone a WR
In his defense, he could do a Jarvis Landry. He ran a 4.76, went in round 2 and had 7 years as a successful WR 2/3.

I still think he's a decent player, I just don't understand the logic of running a 40 at his pro day, especially when he didn't run at the combine.

He had a 4.2 shuttle which is adequate. I'm almost more disappointed that he didn't run a 3-cone which becomes so much more important when your forty is slow.

manman: he didn't look Welker or Edelman Quick on tape.

Which is why I wanted him to run the 3-cone just to see where he was. He ran a 4.2 shuttle whilst Edelman went under 4.
