Exactly. Looks like the Patriots may draft as high as #2. Trade the #2 pick to the Titans, Raiders, Giants or the Browns if they move on from Watson for their #1 and # 2 picks in 2025 and you can get five players in the top 85. You can fill a lot of holes in a hurry and still have $139M of cap space to get veterans.

Watching the college playoff games and keep an eye on offensive linemen, it looks like an incredible draft for linemen ready to play in the NFL - Oregon, Texas and Georgia all have great offensive lines. I'd draft two of those guys in in the first three rounds.
There are 12 first round talents in this draft. 1 Elite talent. I would not pass on Hunter to draft a lesser talent in round 1 and then pick up a second, which is a 3rd round prospect, at best, in most years (i.e. 16% chance of success). 5 players in the top 85 means you MIGHT get 2 good players in an average year but your first guys is worse than you would have had. By sticking where you are you get 1 possible elite player and only like a 9% worse chance of adding a second starter with your one 2nd round pick vs 2.

Teams need to really reassess the draft strategy. Only 50 players drafted per year become players in the NFL. The BB idea of getting more picks and trading down to have more shots at a player has proven to be a bad strategy.
The average team gets 2 draft picks per year that become solid starting players. The best way to increase your odds is draft higher, not lower.

If you can't get a first in 2026 then it would be very risky to trade the pick this year to trade down. 2026 is a deep draft so at least with that trade you might get an extra starter, trading for a second this year, in the weakest draft in a long time, leaves you with prospects not worth their draft position after the top 10.

You should always try to trade 3rd round picks or later for a pick in the next year's draft 1 round earlier. That's just what the data shows. Trading down at the top of the draft without getting future firsts is fool's gold.

Maye
Gonzalez
+ Barmore. He’s been a big loss. If he returns to form after his health issues he’ll make a big difference
+ Bentley
+ $120 million in cap space
+ Top 3 Pick

The pats will be competitive next year with an average offseason. They would make a big turnaround with Vrabel as HC. Unfortunately they may be a frustrating .500 team with Mayo due to Kraft’s ego.

Wolf can’t have a repeat of this year. The pats should be able to add 5-7 good starters with the resources they have IMO.

Jayden Daniels says not so fast…
Let's revisit after year 2.
As I predicted pre-draft Daniels would likely be rookie of the year but also said Maye was the better QB and will have the better career. That Maye is a better QB I think is still obvious, however, seems everyone wants to play for the Commanders, the team may well add even more talent around Daniels.
I question Daniels durability, when he runs less to preserve is body can he win from the pocket, still have my doubts. I'm actually happy for his success, he works hard, seems humble.

I went and rewatched his game yesterday. First 4 drives, terrible accuracy, missed at least 4 easy throws. Threw a TD to a wide open guy. Really looked bad.

5th drive gets the long throw out of the end zone, good throw, another 2 yards on it might be a TD but for 40 yards downfield really good throw. Then the TD throw, not a bad throw, had a little pressure, nobody within 5 yards of receiver, solid throw but one every QB should make.

6th drive, 3 and out.

7th drive, overthrew middle for a pick. Continues his main weakness of can't throw well over the middle.

At half time 7 drives (Maye got 10 the whole game) on 5 of them he was bad, bad accuracy, bad decisions. On 1 he was good and the other was a 3 and out where he went to outlet on 3rd and long.
Yet its only 21-14 thanks to Hurts Concussion.
8th drive was bad throw then wr fumble.

-Last 4 drives of game:
- TD (2 inaccurate throws,1 good play with legs, easy open TD pass he threw low and behind)
-TD (Long throw that could have been picked but wr bumped db off ball, TD on blown coverage, 12 men on field play)
- Interception, (3 inaccurate throws on 4 plays 1 was caught, 1 was picked)
-TD (Hit wide open guys, made plays with his feet) Last TD pass was good, not a tough throw but a middle throw with anticipation. The hole between defenders was 5 yards but still a solid NFL throw.

Least impressive 5 TD performance in history, his running ability was his best asset, he had 1 drive he threw the ball well. I think he had 1 really good throw and 2 good throws. A ton of inaccurate throws and throws to wide open guys.

Please go back and watch the replay of that game and let me know if I'm off on this. Not impressive outside a couple throws and his runs.

Boutte is a keeper. He and Maye have a connection. That 1st TD was a thing of beauty in every aspect.

The Maye INT was a broken route. The receiver fell down.

The backwards pass, fumble, Bills TD was a checkdown I believe. Maye could have backed up if Stevenson ran the route too deep. Maye could have thrown the ball away as well. More than 1 Bills player was barreling down on Stevenson.

Stevenson is in serious trouble. He had 1 fumble in 2023 and 7 fumbles entering 2024. Now he has 14 fumbles.

The Bills will never win a Super Bowl with that awful defense. Even with the guys back who were out.

Winning another game this season does not help this team at all. The 2025 FA and Draft is our Super Bowl.

Agreed. On a team with guys outside in wich I fully expect Drake to have next season Boutte is a nice #3 or 4 option. He's the only one that can win consistently on this team. Rham came into the league as a rookie with fumble issues.. he's to good of a back to be on the sidelines he's been ran into the ground past 2 seasons. Drake is special.. guy has literally nothing and impresses each week. Allen is hurting.. they won't get to the AFCCG.. it will be Ravens and Chiefs in that game.

Agreed. On wolf he did try and makes moves at WR I'll give him that.. our QB/HC situation was just so much of a undesirable situation even $$## couldn't get guys to come here. Drake has shown enough that he's a franchise QB.. go figure in 9 games he's been carrying this team. He has literally nothing around him. Henry is a keeper at TE.. adding at least 2 play makers on the outside makes a world of difference on how defenses play you. Bentley has been injured alot past few seasons.. we need some ferocious DL pass rushers to take pressure of the LBs and CBs.

With a more talented roster we win that game pretty comfortably imo.
I don’t understand this approach.
Of course more talented teams do better but you seem to be attaching a positive characteristic to the players. Such as they gave it their all but just aren’t good. So why would a different set of players with more talent be assumed to have the one quality you are lauding the untalented ones for.

FYI I don’t mean you specifically. I mean people taking this approach.
How does bad players having good effort translate, because we need to get rid of the bad players.

Last season we had the third pick, this season as of now the second pick, maybe next season you can hit the trifecta and get the #1 pick.
That pick would have a lot of value, good QB's, deep draft......Mayo and Wolfe fired.....Hmmmmmm
I just can't imagine going thru another year being as bad, they have to be better next year, don't they?

Too many holes . It will take us 2 off seasons and at least 2026 to sniff the playoffs. I was in your boat, but sadly looks like we need 22 core players and we have maybe 5 players. How do we get the 17 core in single season when we struggle to get more than 3 players a season

Take this season

Out of 8 draft picks - only 2 are relevant for now - Maye and the UDFA safety.

Free agents signed - only Austin Hooper, Ellis and Gibson are performing. Rest all are miserable and sucking/ released -- okra for, Jordan, takitaki, , forget the wide receiver claimed by Washington.

Our home Algerian resigned agents - onwenu performing at 50% , dugger 20%, rham would probably be cut next season, barmore most likely lost
Almost 100 million plus is down the drain considering the guaranteed contracts . Probably our Russel Wilson equivalent .

Broncos have come back remarkably in a year and that's on coaching. But Mayo needs help and no good coach would join him. They need to fire Covington, but who will join him. If Kraft is cheap and turns back to Mayo next season might be a 4-5 win season and top 5 pick again.

KJ Osborn is the guy your thinking of. Lots of good points made! At this point they are going to have spend dam near all the available cap or close to it. In a perfect world you'd hope that Mayo suddenly becomes a good coach. You hope that we hit on draft picks. We hit on FAs. The front 7 feels like it needs a complete revamp.. we all know about the OL can't be worse than 32nd ranked.

Here's a defending Super Bowl MVP and Patiots fans' darling performing the same boneheaded play as Drake and Rham yesterday. Also, the GOAT lost the challenge on the lateral versus forward pass.

What stupid thing will Mayo say tonight that he has to walk back tomorrow. Bets are open
He'll probably say what a great bunch of fans we have and then he'll walk that back after he reads any thread here.

And to think that some of you were totally happy to win this game and drop down to 8.
Yes, and we're called fans.

The only word I can come up with for fans who root for their team to lose is loser. If the shoe fits...
