and if they can't are you just going to claim that Kraft is cheap?Let’s try to sign them before we accept that BS.
If we don't come out of next off season with a solid and long term answer at LT, RT, and Center, Hunter (although highly talented), is not going to help Drake Maye have a long and successful career (because Maye will get killed and be done). This HC and GM are getting 2 years. Talk of firing is just talk, not going to happen. They need a full 2 years to say they have their guys and their system in place. Kraft isn't changing after year 1.
We still play 1-win Titans and Rams, so #1 pick is not guaranteed, especially with Maye starting.
Unfortunately, no top QB's this year, not sure you are getting much for #1 if you get it.
IF you get #1, and the trades are crap you have to take Hunter, you need a lot and he's 2 players in 1! He also seems to be a generational athletic talent; you don't pass them up. You need elite stars, it's a relatively weak draft. Will see how the players rank end of year and maybe things change but take the guaranteed superstar when you can.
If you cannot stop the run when you know they are running, you are screwed. I have no idea how coaching fixes that. This is basic.
Bentley and Barmore can help fix that in 2025 but see no hope in 2024. It's embarrassing to be that bad against the run.
You do know this is not Madden and people might want something other then money rightOffer the most $ and they will.
We need a LT, RT, and Center more than a #1 WR.The QB had plenty of time to throw today with the backup to the backup at tackle.
I do agree we need a LT but at this point, we need a top WR even more.
Need a line to run behind.Wtf has happened to the running game, a rookie QB is your leading rusher in his damn two first starts? Imagine what kind of play action damage Maye could do if he had one!
Braelon Allen would have been of more use, both this season and seasons to come and we could of had him in the 4th Round.Didn’t like the pick at all.
The Pats need to make quality move after quality move and show growth or the FAs we want wont want to be here. You do know this is not Madden and people might want something other then money right
I agree, but a legit 1st option is a definite need.We need a LT, RT, and Center more than a #1 WR.
Exactly. they have a good QB in place the WR have a lot of potential. The D does need some work but has alos been hurt by injury and stupidityThe Pats need to make quality move after quality move and show growth or the FAs we want wont want to be here.
RT and Center have basically taken care of themselves. We need a LT, RT, and Center more than a #1 WR.
Well said…..AVP is not the guy….neither is Mayo nor the DC. Majority of the failures with this team starts with these 3 inept coaches. Brady and Bill had several seasons with WORSE WR and TE than they have now…..and we rarely have had a great OL here….but they made it work…these coaches don’t have what it takesThe thing that mostly concerned me about the coaching is that we went to small ball, runs, screens, WR screens, TE screens, when we were hurting the Jags downfield.
How did we hurt them? Who cares... they are the weakest DBs in the entire NFL. And we decided to not pick on them for half the game.
Maye was more than capable of taking advantage of them.
What was AVP thinking? He refused to attack the weakest DBs in the league. When we attacked them, we only had success.
He wouldn’t be my first choice…That has been my vote as HC since last year, but he seems love being the Vikings DC
I didn’t say over a couple of losing seasons.I'm sorry but there is less than a zero percent chance of that happening. Kraft isn't going to sell over a couple of losing seasons, especially after the franchise was it's most relevant the last 20 years while Kraft was owner. Kraft already has his successor.
Kraft also isn't the one who owns all those Kraft brand products. Totally different. Not that anyone would stop buying those over a football team if he did.
If people thought the way you suggested, we'd see owners selling every single year. The last three sales were basically forced due to scandals and inheritance issues.
It's just not happening. This is taking being upset at the team and fantasizing some extreme unrealistic scenerio. No owner has ever sold because the team had some bad years. And some owners have had decades of being dirt awful and still kept the team. Fan satisfaction is not a requirement to own an NFL team.
I’m losing interest because you keep misrepresenting my position and then arguing against a position I haven’t taken. I have been talking about selling as a possibility as the losing seasons keep piling on during this transformation from NFL elite to laughingstock. He has made stupid decisions since BB left and I have to assume he will continue. I have not said he’ll sell after “a few losing seasons”, that’s your invention.I'm sorry but there is less than a zero percent chance of that happening. Kraft isn't going to sell over a couple of losing seasons, especially after the franchise was it's most relevant the last 20 years while Kraft was owner. Kraft already has his successor.
Yes, ViperGTS pointed that out.Kraft also isn't the one who owns all those Kraft brand products. Totally different. Not that anyone would stop buying those over a football team if he did.
People don’t think that way? And you know this because there are few owner sales? That’s quite the leap. Sales are tough pull off. You’re right that some owners won’t sell, even when their entire fan base loathes them. But I don’t think Kraft is one of them. He cares about his legacy, and if he and Jonathan can’t right the ship in the next 5 years I bet he sells. If people thought the way you suggested, we'd see owners selling every single year. The last three sales were basically forced due to scandals and inheritance issues.
Again, the straw man: “had some bad years.” Dealt with that above. It's just not happening. This is taking being upset at the team and fantasizing some extreme unrealistic scenerio. No owner has ever sold because the team had some bad years. And some owners have had decades of being dirt awful and still kept the team. Fan satisfaction is not a requirement to own an NFL team.
Well in fairness Brissett played lights out with all the knowledge of that voluminous playbook that the offensive mastermind AVP created….great downfield throws, limited the predictable runs up the middle especially on first down…..yeah Brissett sure was tearing it up!!! But no…..we have to start the rookie and all hell broke loose!Grasp AVP's playbook by Week 7? Easily.
Tell me about the incredibly deep play book you have witnessed? Remember that Brissett was signed because he knew the playbook coming in. Does the play calling look more limited since Maye started? Run between the tackles on 1st down, run again on 2nd down, and a shot gun pass on 3rd down. There is no play action, no presnap motion, nearly no RB or TE screens, rarely a WR screen, really nothing new. The playbook is so predictable every defense tries to jump the Pats snap count.
No my argument in April was that we should take fields as starting QB and take MHJ in the draft. So your argument is Maye shouldn’t be playing because he will make mistakes and learn from them?
Maye has already made a half dozen throws Mac Jones either didn’t process enough to make, was afraid to, or didn’t have the arm to.
If you think Mac Jones as a rookie ever looked as good as Maye already has, I’m sorry but you dint know what you are looking at.
AVP with his highschool predictable Offense will be the First to Go!!The thing that mostly concerned me about the coaching is that we went to small ball, runs, screens, WR screens, TE screens, when we were hurting the Jags downfield.
How did we hurt them? Who cares... they are the weakest DBs in the entire NFL. And we decided to not pick on them for half the game.
