Blake Freeland was another guy who was thrown around like a ragdoll at last year's Senior Bowl, and the reports I read said he was going to be a flop in the NFL, and there he is, the second worst pass protector, and the absolute worst when it comes to blowing blocks in the run game.
You badmouth every Offensive Tackle is there any Good OT's in your book?? Asking for a Friend.

O I know: we have to remember too though it's good to a have a solid LT most of these QB's Today are a mobile. The Statue QB's is a dying breed so I don't think a Teams LT have to be Elite anymore. I mean Williams - Daniels and Maye can all run though Daniels is the better runner from the bunch. IF a Team can get a Franchise LT good but I will not pass on a QB if I had the choice.

The thing is he is a runner, not mobile. He doesn't really do the off platform stuff that is so in vouge, I think people need to realize Daniels isn't the kind of QB Mahomes is. Mahomes runs, moves around the pocket in order to get to the ball to his skill guys. Daniels runs at the expense of his skilled guys.

For all that speed Devontez Walker is sucking out loud.
We've learned from the example of Tyquan Thornton and a host of even higher drafted WR's (like the one's Al Davis used to draft), that speed is useless to a WR that can't run routes, get open, and make catches consistently.

Love the ideas posted of trading down to 6 with the Giants in exchange for two 2nds plus a 2025 2nd. Draft Joe Alt at 6, then use two of your three 2nds to trade up into the mid 1st for a number 1 WR (Rome Odunze if he's there, otherwise Brian Thomas or someone). With your third 2nd, draft a right tackle. Trade up into the late 2nd as necessary from your 3rd to take a QB to develop behind Jacoby Brissett in 2024. Sign a high end free safety and your starting TE in free agency. Bring back Dugger, Jennings, Bryant, Uche if he's not too pricey, and Bourne if he's not too pricey.

Yeah, I don't hate that. Spend some money on free agent TEs. Hope the defense is good enough to keep us in some games.

No thanks on Biscuit pass we took him before Dak.

I see but can’t we acquire additional draft capital this year through a future pick(s)?

OT and WR will be easier to come by later in the first, second and third rounds than the right QB. We have what is effectively a second first round pick. We could go QB at 3, OT at 35, and acquire another pick or two to go after a WR/TE.

Of course we could maneuver to move pick 35 up in the draft if there is someone we really like.
I'm all for a "Franchise" LT. However, considering that Matt Light, Sebastian Vollmer, and other such OT's were picked in the 2nd round (and some even later), if a team has a stud O-Line Coach(s), a solid OL can be built without top 5 or even top 10 picks. But I do agree that a solid OL is essential.

The LT of the team has been Light (2nd), Solder (1st), Brown (trade), Wynn (1st), Brown (trade)..... that is 22 years of the position.

My counterpoint would be he hasn't developed it in 5yrs of starting, and what makes you think he'll get good coaching here...after this coaching offseason?

You are a Daniels or bust guy, got it. I'm not, drafting him would seriously impact the rest of the draft for me. Will I root for him once the draft is over, of course. I just don't see a NFL QB when I look at him. Admittedly I've only watched a couple of his cuttups (There is an Alabama one on Youtube for those that are interested.), I've got a couple more to go through but I'm just not impresses with him as a NFL QB.....great college QB though.

No I’m not, i have said repeatedly that I’m fine with any of the three, because they are all good prospects, and the Patriots need a QB to build around. But I’m not ok with trading for Fields, moving back in the Draft and passing up the QB, or getting Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousins, or any of the other refuse from the rest of the league. Am ‘n a top 3 QB or bust guy, and I won’t be happy with this regime if they don’t take a QB at 3. Imo it will lead to years of sucking.

I'm looking for better data, so far the best one is this, that doesn't break down LT and RT, but from that article 45% of all starting tackles are from the 1st two rounds....I'm willing to bet pretty good that is heavily biased LT to RT.

Ok, shorter window but breaks down the tackles, this one.

In the '19 - '21 seasons, 51% of starting LTs were drafted in rd1....going up to 70% when including rd2

If we had Scar as a coach, I'd say fine. Without him, I'd say let's not think that we can find a diamond in the later rounds and turn him into what we want.

And Wynn was the worst of the lot. Brown could have been a Pro Football Hall of Fame OT if he hadn't been so lazy.

Daniels is the only one I've spent any time on at this point as he is the one most likely to be there....that could change alot after the combine, I'm probably not going to watch any more QB film till after then.

I think we are in for a couple of years of sucking no matter who we pick, so I just base my preferences around that. I don't really believe in the QBs (at this point) so I'd rather use the rebuilding capital on players I can believe in.

You suggested I was afraid in an earlier post, the one thing I am afraid of is the team trying to put bandaids on this team to try and fast track a rebuild which will probably lead to first round playoff losses at best, and without the quality picks to really put talent on the team.

And Wynn was the worst of the lot. Brown could have been a Pro Football Hall of Fame OT if he hadn't been so lazy.

Which coincidentally is why he fell to the 7th round in the first place

"His lack of playing experience and conditioning concerns could hurt his draft stock."

It's really almost impossible to know how much Scar was helped by Brady moving around the pocket. We do know the OL all did their jobs and did them well, but Brady commanded the pocket.

Someone posted an old Brady game over 10+ years ago yesterday, and you could see the OL was really doing no better than the OL of the past several years, but they knew not to let immediate pressure up the middle, and they gave away the flanks because Brady always stepped into the pocket.

I would take a QB who can move in the pocket like Zappe and throw with accuracy like, for instance, Jalen Hurts and could read the defense like Cousins.

Our version of LaPorta? Haha
