Dam the 3rd QB have good history already.

Or in the last 10 years you could have one of these guys as your 3rd QB:

Malik Willis
Trey Lance
Dwayne Haskins
Paxton Lynch
Garrett Grayson

...and yes, I clipped out the guys that have had some success.

But again, my issue isn't with a QB, or even with the 3rd QB, it's the 3rd QB with no other choice.

I get it but we have to think positive and double dip for good measures I hope we like Rattler or Pratt *just in case*.

FWIW I’m in the trade down and get an OT and more pieces camp.
I see but can’t we acquire additional draft capital this year through a future pick(s)?

OT and WR will be easier to come by later in the first, second and third rounds than the right QB. We have what is effectively a second first round pick. We could go QB at 3, OT at 35, and acquire another pick or two to go after a WR/TE.

Of course we could maneuver to move pick 35 up in the draft if there is someone we really like.

I don’t agree with your assessment of Daniel’s, but that’s exactly what I was talking about in terms of making an argument. I don’t care about his age because of how long they play. And I think he can improve his short and mid range throws with good coaching, and I love his athleticism, and how it could open up their offense. But at least you are engaging in a discussion about him, instead of just throwing out meaningless phrases.

My counterpoint would be he hasn't developed it in 5yrs of starting, and what makes you think he'll get good coaching here...after this coaching offseason?

You are a Daniels or bust guy, got it. I'm not, drafting him would seriously impact the rest of the draft for me. Will I root for him once the draft is over, of course. I just don't see a NFL QB when I look at him. Admittedly I've only watched a couple of his cuttups (There is an Alabama one on Youtube for those that are interested.), I've got a couple more to go through but I'm just not impresses with him as a NFL QB.....great college QB though.

Same thing was said about Lamar.

We aren't going to see eye to eye and that is fine. I would rather fix the oline (LT and RT) and give a flyer like Rattler a chance to succeed, than draft someone at 3 and have lower picks protecting them.

You have to capitalize on other team’s impulses. With the #3 we should be able to get a 2nd this year but any additional firsts beyond the swap would be next year. I don’t see any quick fixes that make us a playoff team in 2024 anyway.

I don't follow College football at all (all that goddamed racket and flag-waving, all those faux students running around, taking up scholarship money that could go to the academically worthy), and I devote such study time as I have to music theory rather than to draft stuff, so I can't really say anything worthwhile about the draft, except that with the shockingly high uncertainty when it comes to drafting a quarterback, and given our lack of one, I suspect you have to use your highest pick on a qb. If you pick wrong, so be it: try again. That said, and again given the uncertainties, I'm not sure taking a shot at a qb in, say, the second round is a choice very much less likely to work than a choice in the first round. Probably, I just don't know what I am talking about, or maybe it really just doesn't much matter where you take your shot, so long as you do take one.

A RT is not hard to find a Franchise LT I understand: that said I wouldn't take a LT over a QB if QB is a Desperate Need.

Same thing was said about Lamar.

Lamar was in a different situation, he was a latter pick so he went to a better team, with a stable coaching staff. What do you think this board will look like if Daniels throws for 1200yrds his rookie year? Total accumulation less than 2000?

Hate to bring up history but Jaelyn Duncan worked out well in the Offseason and ended up being 6th Round Selection go figure. The guy looked good in the Senior Bowl Practices but we preferred others.

Good for them, hitting a low draft pick LT is even more rare than a QB....only so many guys walking around with the size/athleticism to play LT.

What are you talking about? He had an awful rookie season.

Blake Freeland was another guy who was thrown around like a ragdoll at last year's Senior Bowl, and the reports I read said he was going to be a flop in the NFL, and there he is, the second worst pass protector, and the absolute worst when it comes to blowing blocks in the run game.

Everyone was talking up Christian Jones yesterday.

Here he is getting blasted by a DE no one has ever heard of:

Day 3 RT is much different than day 3 LT. lol
O I know: we have to remember too though it's good to a have a solid LT most of these QB's Today are a mobile. The Statue QB's is a dying breed so I don't think a Teams LT have to be Elite anymore. I mean Williams - Daniels and Maye can all run though Daniels is the better runner from the bunch. IF a Team can get a Franchise LT good but I will not pass on a QB if I had the choice.

BB would probably Trade up for Jones a familiar last name BB loves the Jones.

Ok seriously that was one bad lapse in a real Game a TE would be over there I like C Jones for us.
