DRAFT 2024 7th Round Pick - TE Jaheim Bell

Makes defenders miss and picks up yac like we haven't seen in a long time. Don't ignore the obvious here.
He's a big running back that if you're creative and again don't ignore the obvious. Should be a decent option in that role. Tore acl in hs. He actually started off at rb before expanding his role to defense (lb) and then te and wr. You can occasionally use him in the run game. He had a couple hundred yards rushing a few years back. Like 5 rushing tds.
He runs a great seam and comeback. Knows how lose defenders at the top of his route. Very nice stem/winning with leverage late. Plus acceleration and vision. He's a menace with the ball in his hands. On film and #'s like the ones below highlight his gifts.
Actually a decent blocker for who he is. Won't ever be a killer inline but he'll absolutely do a good job in space.

Think Brevin Jordan mixed with Jonnu Smith.

Great value imo. Not on the ptp board but I definitely approve fwiw.

Bell is - by far - the best YAC and forced missed tackle tight end of the last 10 years in college football.

Well that’s great to hear. I think we can find a place for that

Love this pick. I've been WAY out of the loop this draft season (I probably haven't posted in over half a year since life has me so busy), so everything was a surprise this time around. As soon as I watched Bell I loved his play style. I don't know if he'll turn out any good, but he's a physical player who fights hard at TE/FB and looks like he brings a spark to the offense. What Jonnu Smith was supposed to be?
Or our former hybrid TE Dalton Keene
Big props to @BaconGrundleCandy as always for his breakdowns. I read through some of his threads the last couple days and it was an invaluable crash course. Excited for the upcoming season!

If he is so good in yac why wasn't he given more chances in screens. Why did he drop . Something must be amiss.

Hopefully he ends up some huge steal, but generally, guys in the 7th round are in the 7th round for a reason. Hidden gem isn't always the benchmark for a good pick. His skill set seems to make him a good back of the roster type of guy. If he can add some STs value to his game and learn to block well enough for a team to keep him in lieu of a full back then he might have a nice, long career for himself.

Undersized for TE, doesn't block, doesn't change direction, doesn't get himself open.

He's got a burst, and he's phenomenal after the catch. Maybe he carves out a role getting 2-3 schemed touches in space per game? South Carolina actually used him quite a bit as a running back.

To your first statement Brock Purdy says hi.

Bell is a steal surprised he's not talked about more here you'll will see.

I like the value here; but... If the plan is to convert (there's that word again) Milton to Move TE, then this pick doesn't make as much sense.

I'd almost rather have seen them go defense one more time, such as Beef Curtain Justin Rogers, freaky Texas Tech DE Myles Cole, Maryland Safety Beau no relation to Tom Brade, Miami SS/OLB James Williams, or PSU CB Kalen King...

Height, would be my guess, he's only 6'1".

Interestingly, according to their draft profiles, he is almost the exact same size as that other tight end we drafted the same year as Gronk. I don't think he is nearly as polished or agile as that guy though.

Milton is and will be a QB Coach cap he's not changing positions. I also think Joe Milton will be our #3 QB there ain't nothing much to beat out here people are sleeping on him.

Patriots close out the 2024 draft by taking Seminoles TE Jaheim Bell.

6'2 241 lbs. Ran a fairly athletic 4.61 40 at the Combine. Seems to be a versatile guy that can line up as TE or H-back.

Highlight Reel:

Scouting report:

Seems like a solid player, likely in the role Pharoah brown held if he makes the roster.

If that's true, then I really, Really, REALLY don't like that pick.

The Bell pick, OTOH, looks better for it.

Not really; they actually would've complemented each other more than duplicated each other.

No. That was said with the notion brown is not here. So maybe Mayo's thinking was he could fill the role of blocking TE..so to speak..
