And once again, your reading comprehension fails you. Allow me to quote myself: from the very post in question: "I welcome disagreement, of course - this is a discussion site, after all."

Oh, and , as promised, go **** yourself.

Maybe there's a Pats' site for children. Look into it.

It’s wild how Mac getting full starter reps in training camps and practice was “ill-served” and broken by Belichick, yet Zappe, who was made to sit behind him, released, put on a practice squad, then thrown into it this late in the season is looking serviceable.

Maybe Mac Jones is just terrible. In fact, I’m sure that’s it.

The dude is a dirty player, a bad player, he throws his teammates under the bus in a desperate attempt to maintain some non-existent value, and goes whining outside of the organization in national news-stories for his own vanity. There is literally nothing sad about him.

It’s embarrassing he was ever even allowed to stand where Brady stood.

I don't get why his leash was so long to begin with.

He was horrible last year, yet he kept getting the starting job.

Zappe played decent in his two starts, the offense looked competent, yet one bad half against the Bears he gets sent to the bench for the rest of the year even as Mac looked like he didn't belong on the field.

This year, it was even worse.

And then there was that BoB 'chain of command' comment listing Kraft at the top as far as who decides who'll be starting. It really seems like Mac was forced on Belichick. It's never good when the owner is meddling in football decisions.

Everybody point at the Mac Jones fanboy salt and laugh.

Brady Hate ?
Delusional Mac Jones takes ?
Bitterness over a win threatening the draft position their quarterback put us in ?
Tripling down ?
Salty AF ?

I'm not as interested in conspiracies as some around here are when it comes to BB's decisions, but I can't help but feel playing Mac as long as we did was likely The/A Kraft's decision and BB had to provide a buffet of evidence to give up on the 1st rounder.

Brady's also 6 inches taller than Zappe.
You know Brady retired. He ain’t coming back. Not today, tomorrow, evah!! What’s done is done. Don’t tell me you weren’t at least happy for the kid last night. We won… I get all the yada yada about the draft. But last night .. the Pats won. Felt good .. fun game.

I want the Pats to lose out for the best pick possible.

I know Brady is retired. Zappe is short and short QB's usually aren't as successful in the NFL. Then I brought up Brady who's taller than Zappe.

This is silly, intemperate stuff. He is, it turns out, a man with likely-adequate skills and a fragile make-up. He might well have failed elsewhere, but Belichick's incompetence ensured that he would certainly fail here. Yes, he is not what we hoped, but in my mind your ugly hatred of him - not too strong a word, methinks - is a greater moral failing than his mere performative failings on the gridiron. At least he has an excuse. What's yours?
I don’t hate him, I feel sorry for him. The NFL is too fast for him. He doesn’t see the reads in his progression as much as he sees the rushers coming at him.

I really think Corky has shown his talent limits his skills. He needs a CPU upgrade or maybe better I/O channels to allow him to see the field and process what he sees quickly enough to act on it. Now without that he is overwhelmed by everything coming at him too fast, that makes him feel lost and he panics.

Nothing in that can be cured or broken by coaching.

I get it. Do you honestly believe the players feel that way? Losing to bring on a high draft pick? On draft day, when the Pats trade out or pick the wrong guy for whatever reason, then it’s going to matter. Last night was fun.. felt good to win. I was happy for the Zappe…I want the Patriots to win every game.

Zappe playing his heart out out there and actually scoring some points is bound to be a major lift for a team that was clearly very dejected after the Mac disaster. I bet they continued to play pretty fired up. _if_ we beat the Chiefs, a late season run could be possible, even though it’s obviously too late in 999,999 out of 1,000,000 realities of the theoretical multiverse. Was great to see them happy in the locker room for a change.

This was months and months and months overdue.

How is this shilling for Mac? Please explain?
You’ve been shilling for Mac and making excuses for him all season.

He then went on to tank our entire season and single-handedly blew our playoff chances in a year we very obviously could have competed for a wildcard spot amongst a bunch of teams now competing for said spots that aren’t that amazing.

Now you want to lose for draft position when the guy you don’t like is coming in and scoring points and giving the team a much needed moral boost + hope they won’t just work their asses off all week only to be embarrassed on national television because the guy who gets the ball every snap is straight up terrible.

“I want to lose.”
Yes, clearly. Since earlier in the season you wanted to extend Mac Jones, my question would be: for how many more seasons?

Here's the thing too, about the precious draft position. Sure the higher the pick the better chances at a blue chip player. But what people don't consider is that the higher the pick, the further from contention you are. If Zappe rips us a few wins in the final 4 games, then we aren't as desperately in need of a top 3 pick as we were when Mac was at the helm. If Zappe is good enough now, let's see how he is with a better supporting cast that we can strengthen with a high pick. Not needing to go QB with the first pick gives us way more flexibility to improve the offense

I don't see a "form of insult" from One-if-by-Sea unless you consider being called combative one. If that is taken as one, then apologies on my end and carry on.

I shall expect to be insulted for stating again the inconveniently obvious, but the truth as always, bears repeating. I welcome disagareement, of course - this is a discussion site, after all - but for those who feel that that disgareement must take the form of insult, let me offer a firm preemptive Go **** Yourself.

It is not "the" truth, it is "your" truth. It is disappointing you feel so combative when anyone disagrees with you. Disagreements are healthy and help everyone be better.

With the malfeasance done by BB on the offensive side of the ball in this and last several off seasons, there was no way the Pats were going to make the post season. With adequate QB and OL play, they're probably a .500 team like they were the last few years.

Zappe had one good half of football last night so maybe let's pump the brakes.

I post here a lot but I don't keep a running list of **** people say here like some posters do so I can throw it in people's faces down the line. Half the time, they take that stuff out of context or with 20-20 hindsight.

He isn't. He played one half of good (not amazing) football yesterday.

It's because Mac is a practice warrior and also because of the darn red herring Bills game... and Zappe really did suck donkeybolls in 3 relief appearances. For the 4th against the vGnas he was simply not good but no donkeys were relieved of pressure, so that's why he got his chance in the hard rain against the Bolts.

Beating Pittsburgh is always so sweet...well done
A bit of schadenfreude to help soothe this miserable season:

Coach Mike Tomlin should be fired the minute this wasted Steelers season ends.
Tomlin’s more recent failings have added up to a bad career. Tomlin belongs nowhere near the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He’s a fraud. He started fast with somebody else’s players, somebody else’s leaders and somebody else’s culture.
But Tomlin hasn’t had a playoff win in the last six seasons. He’s not had a playoff win in 12 of his previous 16 seasons. He’s likely to extend those dubious marks.
Rock bottom arrived Thursday night when the Steelers lost for a second straight time to a team that entered the game at 2-10.
A team with a winning record hadn’t previously lost consecutive games to teams that were at least eight games under .500. It’s an NFL first.
More insanely, both games were at home.
The Steelers came out flat, unprepared and sloppy. The usual mismanagement and coaching malpractice. Visible uncertainty. Bad decisions.
The plane has crashed into the mountain, but afterward Tomlin was stammering about “turnover component” and fighting in the second half.
Tomlin looks and talks like a coach who should be fired. Oblige him.
The Steelers are a mess. Their culture stinks. It’s me-first and leaderless.
It’s not a great roster, but it’s good enough to beat Arizona and New England.
The Steelers’ style is outdated, almost prehistoric compared to the high-octane football that wins in today’s NFL, and Tomlin doesn’t want to evolve.

With back-to-back stunning losses to a pair of two-win teams, the Steelers need a win in two weeks against Cincinnati to avoid the rarest of rare achievements — a losing record at home.
