The same people who argue it’s all about the qb now want to argue the qb doesn’t matter.
"It was all Brady," they say, then turn around and are surprised when an absolutely ****ty QB blows games.

You're right. If the Jets had Rodgers AND Pickett played that night for the Steelers instead of Trubisky the Patriots would be 2-15. Proven! I proved it!
You are a fool.

Tough way to end a brutal season. I expected a better effort today from the team. Much like the rest of the season. Lack of talent, poor coaching etc.
Not sure they will draft a QB a 3. Bears lost today. They will draft a QB. So will the Commanders. Many other teams will be looking for a new coach with better personnel situations. Pats are not an attractive destination for free agent wide receivers either. Play for KC and Mahomes or ?? in NE? There's so much to fix on this team. It's not all gonna happen in 2024.

That's the whole feckin' point! The biggest variable in the NFL is the QB.
Patriots' QB play this year was abysmal.

When Zappe played well, for that one half, suddenly Devante Parker looked like an NFL receiver. Like Juju the game before that.
It matters.
And yes, they need an upgrade at WR. QB's make a difference in the entire offense.
No one is arguing a good QB makes a difference. No question.

I think (some posters) think an average QB could elevate this team to playoff contention and there are just too many holes on the roster.

I'm so glad ARI missed that FG for the win... Otherwise, today's loss would've been completely in vain - as in Pats would've had the #3 pick even if they had won.

You are a fool.
My proof doesn't need your approval.

2-15 with better QB play from the teams we beat this year. Proven.

It’s not really thinking it, it’s looking at the actual games we played and seeing that in at least 7 losses just average qb play would have almost certainly resulted in wins.
In other words we lost with abysmal QB play in 7 games but if it had just been mediocre it would have been enough to change those outcomes.

Everyone agreed with the notion from 2020-23 that an improved QB situation would make them potential contenders (then again, you can day that about almost every team).

Anyway they’re not winning 7, 8, 10 games now. They won 4. Huge difference.

The Patriots tied with the Panthers for dead last in points scored. This is a systemic failure.

Ok, so if you change wins to losses if the other team had better qb play, then you agree better qb play for us would have resulted in more wins

It will be interesting to see what new things people come up with to complain about
All of it. It’s Super Bowl or bust in these parts

You keep talking about these 7 games and I just laugh....

You have no idea if the receiver catches the ball from the new QB or if the blocking scheme is the same.

You don't know if the new, average QB can pick up the offense.

Christ Tom went 4-5 after JE got hurt and AB got kicked off the team....and he was the GOAT with **** to throw to and a crap o-line....just like now.

Please stop with the "i've proven it" nonsense when it's speculation because it hasn't happened and never will.

No I'm demonstrating the folly of that argument.

This team isn't 4-13 because the QB sucked. They're 4-13 because the QB sucked AND the OL was the worst pass blocking OL in the league, AND the recievers were terrible, AND the TE's were nothing special, AND the running game was nothing special, AND the special teams were awful including a kicker who was complete trash, AND the defense was banged up AND they were poorly coached and that includes Bill himself.

I hope that clarifies things.

Realistically let’s say you replace Mac with Joe Average, the 16th best QB in football (ignoring the Patriots always scoff at the money required for a guy like this).

My guess (based on oddsmakers) is the Patriots overall score improves 2-3 points per game. They might win a couple of more games they lost. Maybe a 6 win team? To get like a full touchdown difference you need an all pro level QB, and even then it doesn’t really work like that with every 6 point loss now being a 1 point win. A lot of these “one score games” are ******** anyway where the other team went into a soft zone and the final score was closer than the game actually was.

Again look at point differential. Patriots were -130. A QB would need to change that total by 7.6 points per game just go get to even, a theoretical .500 record.
